The company in question bills a few ways for this number, and it is because they are a 3rd party billing company.

This is means they conduct billing for various companies that may be considered high risk, so this is going to include things like dating websites, porn site, adult products stores, "adult phone numbers", as well as many more innocent things like nutritional supplements,  smoking and tobacco products, gambling related products or websites, and certain direct marketing products ( including some "as seen on tv" type stuff).

There is certainly a possiblity of fraud, usually in the form of rebilling, which is common for many of these types of companies, to recharge you monthly however don't assume the purchase is something illicit, without finding out what else it could be first.

Sorry to tell you ladies but this company hands more than phone sex hotlines i handles and escort as well.

No, it's not fraud, it is not a scam, and it is not necessarily fishy, nor is it a collection agency.  The website is help1234.com.  Whoever posted that their bank said it's fraudulent, the bank is just plain wrong.  It's a membership to something someone signed up for with your card, and you can go there and cancel the membership.  I've dealt with them for years, usually for low-budget porn sites, and they are just a billing service with no evil secret agenda.  Once you cancel, it never shows up again.

So, yes, in my experience it's *probably* porn, or an escort website (not an escort service, but a website you can join where they post ads and customers post reviews), or a dating service.  But, that said, I've also had to cancel charges with them for a website that gave out real estate foreclosure listings, so don't assume anything.

When you go on one of those low-budget looking websites via pop-up or banner ad, and it's 'free for 90 days' but they require you to enter a valid credit card, well, if you don't cancel within 90 days they start billing you, and they keep billing you until you cancel.

But, don't take my word for it.  If you go to help1234.com and enter the card number and your last name, you can see the billing history to see when it started etc.  Click on 'view billing history; and it will give you the date, then click on the little "(i)" info bubble next to any line and it will give you the details.  For example, here is one I just cancelled:

Note, the initial billing will say "CVV Resp. :    Match" which indicates the person was holding your card in their hand when they signed up, so... not someone who swiped the number unless they also have your name, address and the security code on the back of your card.

I also had a problem with this so called "NAA NATIONAL A-1" also known as National A-1 Advertising which is very notorious in taking money without authorization.  They most likely got your credit card information probably through a trial membership you signed up for which can most likely be a dating website where they took all your credit card information and personal information so they can protect themselves when people like us file a dispute through the bank.  They charged me about 4 times for about a total of over $100.00.  You still have to file the Federal Regulation E form, some banks will reverse the charges but some won't because it involves money.  Cancel your credit card, even call FTC to see if they can help you out.  If all else fails, you have to find a lawyer and go to small claims court for this.

I too have a charge of $9.95 on my bank statement, NAAVODHELP.COM. My statement has the merchantcatagory asDirect Mark-In Tele and the expense catagory as, Mail Order/ Telephone Order Providers. I called the 800# and they were not clear as to what the charge was for. How did you get BOA to reverse the charges?

I am in the same situation...my boyfriend of over three years definitely has an addiction he almost lost his house (his parents bailed him out), his first wife left him and he can't pay his bills now due to all of the money he owes his parents and his ex in support payments yet. I completely relate to what you are saying.  I tried so hard to be understanding and patient, and to help the bf seek help.  He did go to counseling a few times and did his "90 days" in the 12 step program, but ultimately did not stick with it.  It is necessary for a recovering addict to have a support program to maintain sobriety, of this I am now convinced.  I have also learned that we cannot do it for them.  We cannot be his monitor if we are to be his partner.  Also, be careful about becming codependent.  If your man is not the one initiating seeking help and recovery, then run, run fast and far.  I wish I had.
