I was enrolled from a company selling Readers Digest magazines. I cancelled my membership before the 20 day expiration.

We also got a charge of $159 on our credit card. Called the number and got the same magazine subscription and trial membership line. Our charge was still pending with the credit card and they said they would not finish processing the charge. I asked how she obtained the information and she said it was a verbal authorization over the phone by my husband (which it wasn't.) I told her I wanted to know exactly what magazine this was tied to and she said she didn't have the specifics and all she could tell me was that is was some magazine thru Crown Marketing.

I then called the credit card company to alert them and challenge the charge. They ended up reporting the card as stolen and sent us new cards.

I didn't get a call from these people, but I also had $159.00 taken out of my checking account.  They had generated a check (Got the branch of the bank wrong and also misspelled the name of my town).  The woman I spoke with when I called them also tried to give the magazine subscription and "free trial" story.  I have never given out any info about my bank account; anything I order online or over the phone, I use my credit card.  After I did a little more investigating and saw the check that they used, I called them back and informed them that I did not order or renew any mags using my checking account, and I asked for a refund which she immediately agreed to send me after I mentioned bank fraud and the A.G.'s office. (still remains to be seen if they really send it)  I still cannot imagine how they got my account info, but this is definitely shady.

same bull same lies, we never bought mags with credit card, how did they get the number??  Isnt this against the law. How about some legal action against this crap. "unknown debit charge"  says don't be mean to the person on the phone. Why not? It is a scam there is no magazine we agreed to getting some crap and forgot to cancel, never gave card number.

I was just reviewing my credit card statement and saw the $159 charge from CNA 18004639954. I called and got their answering machine with a very vague message, but it said just leave your name and they will cancel your trial membership. I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure it out ... thought my wife had bought something. Thank you for all these posts. I did get a call to renew my Salt Water Fisherman Magazine but I did not accept it. I always renew it by mail directly with the magazine. MY CONCERN IS HOW DID THEY GET MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION?

We received a call from this number then a charge of $143.40 was taken out of my account. As soon as I called, they said they would cancel the transaction and reimburse me.

I just got a charge on my credit card for $159. I called 1800-463-9954. The woman who answered said she's with Consumer Network of America, and she had me wait for a while and explained that there was some recording she had to play, but wasn't entirely necessary or something (it was probably one of those "Take this survey!'' things). So after that, she said that the charge was for a magazine subscription, but I could cancel it and get refunded anytime. So I asked her to cancel it, and she said that after 10 if I didn't see the money back in my account, I'd need to call my bank to have them fix it.
Just be patient, and don't get angry at the people on the phone. It's not their fault that the company charged you money; they're just doing their job.

Also, in the future, never agree to a magazine subscription over the phone, or any subscription for that matter. They're often full of catches and 'fine print' and cause more trouble than what they're worth.

My Aunt was charged $159 on her American Express for a bogus charge with this 800-463-9954 given as the billing number.

The same $159 was charged to a family members account.  Pretty tired of hearing about these companies that are scamming people.

Same $159 taken from mother's account.  Company is Consumer Network of America out of Wheat Ridge Colorado.  Similar to MMWG, I called and they have promised to cancel & send refund.  If anyone else was promised refund, did you receive it?

I was charged 159.00 to my debit card on 10-18.  I have no idea who these people are.  Could this be because I pay some bills on the phone with my debit card?

I was charged $159 today and no clue what this was. I called the number and a woman answered and was very polite. I told her I didn't know what the charge was and she asked for my phone number, looked it up and was able to tell what it was from. I recieved a call earlier this month with a deal for a low rate on a magazine I subscribe to, when I accepted their rate offer I was enrolled in a 20 day free trial to Consumer Network of America it is a discount shopping service. I had forgotten all about it and the fact that you had to call to cancel it. I did recieve this information in the mail after placing the magazine order. The woman at CNA said that I could cancel at anytime, no questions asked and told me she canceled it right then. So we shallo see.

I did not authorize this and further more don't know who or what this is.  My bank is investigating.
