I got a call from NACS wanting me to call them back. It's about a bill from a hospital that say's I owe them $50, I concider the hospitals policy on billing a scam (Remember this is the age of the scam). They wanted me to come back in three days to take a minor dressing off that they put on. I told them that I was going to go see my Doctor in three days. They said it would be better that I come back there. Right and they charged me anouther $50 ER fee for the same wound that I went in there for. My question is, "Why did't they send me to their outpatiant office that is 8 miles closer to my home. SCAM

Incorrect, you are not required to speak to anyone on the phone. If they sue, answer with a motion of discovery for documents. If the debt is out of statute then raise that as a defense during interrogatories.

No one is require to speak with someone on the phone. Keep it all in writing. That keeps everyone honest.

Right, but you can report the to the Consumer Protection Agency, because they are not lawyers. Retaining a law firm will not make them lawyers. If you call them back, ask the person on the phone if he or she is personally a lawyer. Bet not. Only a lawyer can call you.

Their association with that law office means that you have to talk to them and they can call you all they want. I suggest you call them, but ask the person on the phone if he or she is a lawyer, it has to be a lawyer, not a law firm that they retained.

It's good to see that some of you are aware that you cannot be sued in the state of Florida over medical bills.  My mother was not aware and was bullied into paying for a bill that she could not afford.  I had to send her money to eat on!!  So I guess these louses got their money from me!  Freakin' a-holes!

This number keeps calling a business phone up to 4x per day for the last 3 months.  When I pick up the phone there is dead silence on the other end.

Well, if they are calling in the state of Florida over hospital bills, they may want to recall that you cannot submit a lawsuit for unpaid bills in this state.  Sucks for them!

return the call and ask if they are looking for you. If not, they will remove your number as the wrong number. They don't know they are calling the wrong number unless you notify them.

All you have to do is let them know they are calling the wrong number. Cell phone numbers are recycled all of the time. It is very possible this company has not idea they are calling the wrong number unless you let them know. Especially if you have never answered the phone or notify them. Please keep in mind debt collection agencies are not governed by the Do not call list.

Had someone call me from that number on a couple of occassions looking for someone I have never heard of , I did a callback and determined it is a collection agency. I plan to file a complaint with the FTC, since I have told them I do not know the person and to stop calling.

My 9 y.o. son keeps getting calls from this number. He's had the phone for only 3 months (for emergencies) Obviously a 9 y.o. doesn't have unpaid bills (and neither do I) We are on the Do Not Call list so I'm reporting them today.

They called numerous times. When they called again, i got so fed up that I said "you got the wrong number." But they kept on insisting that it was the right number. So I asked them "who is calling? What company are you calling from?" They continuously tried to change the subject and will absolutely NOT admit where they were from.

Does anyone know how to get them to stop calling and/or who to contact that could assist in getting them to stop the annoying calls when you have no debt to be collected?

"They intend to prosecute:  "Our association with Kevin Wilson Law Office allows us to pursue debtors to the fullest extent of the law if they do not respond to traditional collection efforts."

That's funny...no really, I am laughing out loud for real - you cannot sue for medical bills (at least not in the state of Florida).  Obviously the person they are trying to reach (Joanne) is in Florida...so they're wasting their time...and my cell minutes since I do not know a Joanne!!!!!!!

They are the North American Credit Services.  They left a message saying "this is not a sales or telemarketing call", asked me to call them, gave me an extension and a reference number.  It was for a health care invoice that was reported to them as unpaid.  The man could not have been nicer, told me what the amount was, said he'd forward my dispute to the hospital, and never even asked for payment.  I guess there's different levels of collection and at least this guy must have been the "be nice at all costs" level.

I have read lot's of comments by people with bills owed and people that have no bills. I have even read a couple where the person states they owe the bill and wish to get it paid. What I never understand is the comments about the calls yet nothing about why the call is made in the first place. Yes we can one day slow down nasty collection firms but who will collect money from the people that just do not care and never pay their bills waiting for companies to just forget it? I hate paying for others that do not know how to work one or two jobs, count correctly and pay their bills on time. I can't be the only one that feels this way? If you can not afford it do not buy it. If you buy it pay for it and we would have less of these calls and people trying to continue to find ways to get out of paying debt..... example: when my wife and I buy food for our family, nearly $28.00 is added to the cost of my $100.00 food bill because of people writing bad checks and stealing. There is nothing fair about that . I am tired of paying for others bad debt.

this is the oldest trick debt collectors use they call over and over thinking that it well make you call them back to stop them, then they got you, the thought is they are not braking the fdca if they don't talk to you directly.
i'm not saying i don't owe any doctor i know that i do but i've been paying the hospital i assume the hospital gets tiered of waiting or how ever it may work and it gets turned over to people like this.
as far as the person saying they'll prosecute i hope you don't work for them it is not illegal to owe someone money so not ever state will waste there time to help debt collectors .
although i will say i have had 2 other bills payed by the debt collectors themselves because of a judge that has sided with the calling more then 2 times a day is extreme and most lawyers that deal with these type of people get paid if you get paid so you know when you have a good chance at a win.
the only other thing i will say is if you are getting a lot of calls on your landline check with your phone company if you don't have it add it, it's called incoming call rejection, stops those nasty debt collectors that use those auto callers you'll never hear from them again, then they have to do it the old way snail mail ........................................
