file a complaint at www.donotcall.gov.  Do it as many times as they call.  Maybe the government will finally go after them.

Called my number and a automated message told me to hold on. A guy answered and acted like I called him, looking for some name that was not mine.  When I told him this wasn't that person's number the 'agent' slammed the phone down before I could tell him I was not on the 'Do not Call' list.  Very rude to say the least.  When I called the number back it said it was from HSBC.  If this number calls again I'm planning on filing a complaint.

This appears to be a fake number from a scammer who is trying to get your personal identification information so they can steal your identity!  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!  Better yet, do not call this number!

We see on caller ID they call every morning while we are at work. Never leave a message. We refuse to pick up when we are home as we have no idea who this is. Just says the #. One day I did. They asked for my husband by "Tommy" although cute he doesn't go by that. Red Flag already. I asked who was calling Cari (some guy) I said from where. Kentucky he replied. I said what company. He said who is this?  I told him he is calling my home wanting to speak to someone on my end then he needs to ID himself not me. Then he acted as if I was being rude. Never once did I do so. Then he refused to give me any further information. They are still calling daily up to 3 x a day. I would love to know if we can file charges for this harassment. We have impeccable credit. If this HSBC, they have the wrong number.

Tell them to "man up" and prepare to meet you in court for violations of the TCPA.

Harassing a non-debtor for someone else's debt on a CELL phone is $1,500 PER violation and REGARDLESS of the circumstances:

The average consumer debt collector employee places 200 collection calls per day or 50,000 calls per year!  How do they make so many calls?  Most use a technology known as autodialing, even though the use of an autodialer by a collector often violates the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
The penalty for violating the TCPA is HUGE ? Every illegal phone call carries with it a $500 penalty, and if the collector knows he is violating the Act, the penalty is tripled!

As the name implies, an auto-dialer is a sophisticated computer system that constantly and continuously dials numbers on collection accounts.  When someone answers the phone, the computer immediately delivers the call to a collector, and the account pops up on the collector?s monitor.  So, if you are behind in your bills, you (and your family and your employer) are getting calls from your debt collectors ? a lot of calls!

Not every call using an autodialer is illegal.  Most notably, a consumer debt collector can call a debtor at home using an autodialer.  However, the following two acts violate the TCPA if an autodialer is used:

Making a collection call to a cell phone belonging to the debtor or any third party
Making a collection call to any telephone number not belonging to the debtor

Like every rule, there is an exception.  If the debt collector has the prior written consent of the recipient, then there is NO VIOLATION.  For instance, if the debtor gives the debt collector permission to call his cell number, or if that?s the only number the debtor provided his creditor, there is no violation.  However, the debtor can revoke that consent by advising the collector that he has reached a cell phone and that he does not have permission to call that number again.

TCPA violations often occur when consumer collectors contact the debtor?s family members or coworker looking for the debtor.  If an autodialer is used to place the call, there is an immediate violation of $500.  If the collector KNOWS that the number he is dialing belongs to debtor?s family members or coworker, the fine is $1,500 for a single call.  So, if the debtor?s parents get 100 calls from a harassing collector, the statutory fine is as high as $150,000!

How do you know if an autodialer is being used to make calls to you or your friends, family and coworkers?  You don?t, but it is safe to assume that every collection call is using the technology.  An attorney familiar with the TCPA can subpoena the collection agency and acquire account notes generated by the computer system.

Why would a collection agency employ a technology that exposes the agency to huge civil penalties?  The enormous profits generated by autodialing far outweigh the potential penalty when caught.  In other words, it is just the cost of doing business.

They call me several times a week asking for Randall Kirby, I tell them I am not Randall Kirby, and they tell me I am lying. They continue in a harsh manner telling me to "man up." What ever that means. I have called them back and asked for a manager/supervisor, and have spoke to the same. He promised to take my number off the list, but has failed to do so. This is a cell phone and costs me money every time they call.
Next time they call they are getting the "whistle" and I hope it blows their ear drums out.

They use multiple numbers - as if it will make a difference when they call anywhere from 5 to 10 times a day, everyday.  Went through the Payment Difficulty program.  They reduce payments for 6 months at a time.  You get a letter stating that you qualify and they take their payment once a month - but a different office calls and states that you are behind in payments.  You cannot win.  When you do get to the phone in time to answer they don't listen to you.  I told them I have a letter from them and they still say your behind in payments.  Funny - but it was always taken from my checking account electronically once a month - so how could I be behind.  They don't listen so don't bother answering their calls any more. And yes, they will never leave a message.

Has been calling my husbands cell phone everyday.  I finally called the number back.... they will not tell you any information regarding who they are.  I demanded to be removed from their list.  They asked me if I knew someone by a name they gave me.... I did not.  Then they removed my number.  I then asked again why they were calling me and they gave no answer.  Some sort of ripoff that bothers you day and night.

They just called my office for a co-worker.
First time they've called here. Said her name was Theresa. She was very rude, didn't believe me when I said my co-worker was out of the office (which WAS true), then asked for our company name and address, and refused to leave a message for said co-worker.
AND refused to tell me HER company name...
But I'll certainly never put her call through to anyone if ever she calls back.
