I work for a small insurance agency and they called about our website www.allstateoftravlersrest.com which we have through GoDaddy. You could tell they were a scam right away. No named search engine is the big giveaway! They called our business and luckily I knew they were a scam. Do not give them any info and I'm sure their site is full of ads and viruses to get your information or put viruses on your page.

Keep getting robo calls and spam from these people. I don't even have a new website to register and if I did, I wouldn't do business with these guys!

called me twice so far. pre recorded voice. I hate those thing happen all the time. Why no body can shut this phone number down and give them a big fine so they will not do same thing again?

Robot call to go to a website  "searchengine.com" ???  My phones are on the do not call list.

I'm a web developer and consultant. They called and left me a message. I can tell you, given my experience and education, that this is completely bogus. You do not 'need these people for local search listings'.

Don't buy anything or return their calls.

Spam.  They use new domains that have been registered.  Unfortunately they do a whois search on the new domains that get registered and if you don't buy the domainsbyproxy to hide your contact info, Scams like these people will contact you.

Thank you for the info. I was contacted by these idiots and did not fall for it. I just registered my number on the do not call list. I did not know about this list until now, thanks to you;) BEWARE OF ALL SEO first page placement companies. This seems to be the new wave of internet crime and scams. BEWARE of 29 Prime, 29 Maps, Reliableplaces.com, Your Local Merchant, 29 orders. They are all the same company. Google them to see they are fraudulent. Take care!

I keep getting calls from this number, and I'm on a no call list. I just called them at 800.807.1449 and left a message saying I want my phone number removed from their list and if I receive one more call I will press charges.  Do the same, the more threats they get, the more they will listen. And I do plan to sue them if they call me again.

Renewed domains recently now getting calls every other day 800-486-9962.  Very vague as to what web site and who they are in message... SCAM to sell you web site design & hosting... Cannot jusge their work performance but don't like how they market so I'd never pick them....

If you own and manage a website, where your phone number is advertised (either directly on the website, or in the Whois database), I have news for you: You've disqualified yourself from being a part of the DNC registry by publishing your phone number!

GoDaddy isn't selling your information, but ICANN, the international registrar of domains, maintains a master list, which is publicly available (Google the term "whois" and search out your own domain). This "Whois" database contains registrant contact information for every domain in the world. As the registrant of a domain, you will now receive e-mails, phone calls, and direct mail solicitations as a result of your information being listed in WHOIS. You can request that this information be kept sealed, however, GoDaddy and others will charge a fee for the service - if you do seal the information, GoDaddy's information will appear as the registrant in place of yours, and all solicitations will go directly to them instead of you.

Here's more on the number.  The website and company is http://www.searchenginestartup.com.  When you visit the site you'll notice there's no contact address or phone number.  But I got it.  The scum bag is Michael W Eglet;  26508 132nd Ave SE; Kent, WA 98042.  You can 1) Write him directly by USPS, or 2) Include his contact info in your complaint to https://donotcall.gov and/or 3) Call the web host directly.  They're Host Gator.  They should know what he's up to because they DO NOT have to even host the site.  Their phone number is (713) 574-5287 and contact E-Mail is support@hostgator.com.  If you're as tired of these calls as I am, then do all three points.  If everyone would follow through these phone calls will stop.  Companies like these depend on people giving up out of frustration so GO FOR IT.

These people are just liars.  First they claim you've got a new website, then second, state they'll get you a listing in Google.  Neither is true.  If you create a new website, Google will list it without them.  Third, they have no license from Google to even be using their name.  Fourth, they have no system to get off their list, so report 'em to http://donotcall.gov.

Yes I too was just called to respond to this automated search engin start up.com 1-800-486-9962. @ 5:10 PM Today Sept 17, 2012Monday.

I got the same call Sept. 3... let it go to message. Was told that it was urgent that I must register my website. Glad I checked here. New site was set up with NetFirms.

I talked to someone at godaddy.com and the sales person told me they are not selling the phone number to this BS company.  I believe them.  Just so you know...
