The companies that do the police/sheriffs association charity collections keep 80% or more of what is collected.

Just got a call, didn't answer and no message left. No message, so it must not be important! DELETE

They call EVERYDAY.....even on Sunday, December 26th (day after Christmas), at 8:00pm!!  Pretty sure it is a call center.  They never leave a message, but sometimes they lag on the phone and I can hear other people on the phones in the background.

I answered the phone and I could hear a bunch of noise on the line (like a bunch of people in the backbround) but no one was talking.  I said hello again and the person identified themself with the United Sheriff's Organization.  I instantly told him to take my name off his calling list and to please not call me again.  He immediately interrupted me by soliciting to collect funds for his organization when I hung up on him.  I personally think that was a bogus organization.

My son a state policeman says only a portion goes to the association to help police officers and their families in need.  He said it's a nice thought mom but the company doing it gets 1/2.

They also use 505-514-0673 that you can block as well

if you have Qwest service, block the call by using *60
- Enter the number
- hang up - you cna blick up to 15 numbers
- *80 deactivates this

The Sheriffs Association charites are the worst.  The calls are legal because they are charities.  But the company doing the calls typically keeps about 95% of every donation.  

I say goodbye and hang up on them.

they say they are New Mexico Sheriff and Police Association.  Probably a scam!

Just got a call from 800 487 1026  and no one was on the line.
