Collectors should remember that if everyone paid their debts, there wouldn't be any collection agencies to employ you.

I receive these phone calls everyday and finally returned the call to a 1-800 number.  Spoke to someone named Deanna and asked that my phone number be taken off their list.  She claimed they didn't have a list that they go by and kept pestering me for my phone number and name.  I didn't want to give out that information which, come to find out, she already knew who she was talking to all along thanks to her caller i.d.  I requested several more times that my number somehow be removed.  She put me on hold twice and just was not very helpful at all.  I am sick of receiving these calls everyday.

I am so glad these people called me, because if it wasn't for them upsetting me and triggering me to call them back, i'd have a judgment against me by now.

So, just pay your debt, quit hiding from collectors?  What about the bozos who call just because your ex-stepmother-in-law owes a debt.  And no matter how many times you tell them you have no clue how to contact her, they keep calling?  And what about the time the numbers on caller ID are spoofs and not trackable?  And you get get these calls for a debt you do not owe over and over and over again?  Something happened and they stopped, thank God.

Supreme one is right and for the record I am college graduate working as a debt collector and make a whole lot more than 8 dolllars an hour. Do your research before you run your fingers on a key board because as a debt collector I have taken many people to court and had their wages garnished....why don't you take a look at the FDCPA and tell me what is says....

Beware of FCS Financial Services also. They Operate Just exactly like Dunstone. They use 1-800-754-1913 as their call back number. They use the exact same illegal methods as Dunstone LLC. WE DO NOT OWE THESE JERKS ANY MONEY. Carrie thanks for the useful info on how to stop these jerks. I contacted our attorney after reading your post. Yes,We have a clear cut case of illegal collection activity against both Dunstone and FCS Financial Services. They can not collect on a debt of a dead person, who's debt was despenced with in probate, nor can they apply it to their parents and/or their children minor or adult. These people are the scum of the earth, one second thought I take that back. It's not really being fair to the scum.

You dont know how  far off track you are, it is obvious you are not very intelligent or you would have sued for more than 5K..the only way you can sue is if there was an FDCPA violation, which sounds like in your case there was, however not a major one, or you would have gotten alot more money. As for how much a collector makes, you once again, are way off, try somewhere in the range of 40 - 60K per year if they are good, if not low 30's..You really should do your homework before you speak, but had you finished high school you would hve learned that...maybe a GED will help you..

No, you can't be sued for anything less that a government backed loan, not even for a car payment.  That's why they have foreclosures and repossessions.  Once the balance is taken to a private 3rd party company, that 3rd party company, such as a collection agency, can't do a damn thing to collect that money.  That's why most of them will take a 20% payment to settle the debt, they know they have no ground to stand on.  I had fraudulent activity from my discover card in 1997 that a collection agency was still trying to collect on after purchasing the debt from discover card.  My balance (that was mine) was 412 dollars and change, once the collection agency got a hold of it, the balance was blown up to 4400 dollars.  I had a paper trail of the fraudulent activity and showed my balance taken care of.  The agency proceded to attempt to collect for 2 more years.  Just settled a lawsuit against that agency for 5k dollars and made sure the person that kept calling me was fired.  Typical tactics of a collection parasite.  Must be fun making 8 dollars an hour harrassing people for 27 bucks for an error in medical billing.  Don't listen to these people, most are highschool drop-outs that couldn't make it selling used cars.  Confront them, get their home address if you can.  Doesn't take a lot to take care of these people.  Remember, if you don't want them to call... even if you owe money, you can sue THEM for harrassment once you've made a formal complaint.  It's easy money.

Sometimes it's just not that simple.  Most collectors don't care that you lost your job, your child was put in a hospital, you have to pay your house payment FIRST, you have to pay for repairs on your car, or numerous other issues.  I've dealt too many times with creditors who "wanted to help", and screwed me over when I followed their terms for their "help".  I know they are doing their job, but most collection companies hire complete a***oles to do the job, and noone wants to work with an a***ole.

I left a note here recently (2 notes back) about Marcus.  Well, today I got a call from "Desiree" and typed the number in, came back to the same exact page.  From reading the other notes, it sounds like maybe someone gave a company their work number and that's why we get the calls.  So maybe it isn't a scam, but its definitely very poor business ethic.

I too have been receiving these extremely rude and threatening messages from Dunstone Financial LLCj, a collection agency located in Phoenix Arizona. I called them back at 1-480-302-5787 and spoke with some jerk named William. The messages are almost as if the mafia is calling and are quite frightening. They refuse to identify themselves and continue to call all hours of the day and night, I've had enough and would like to know if there are enough people interested in filing a class action suit in an effort to shut down this outrageous company. These companies and others like them need to be banned from doing business in the United States and any countries affiliated with the USA.

Got a recorded call yesterday from "Marcus" who seemed a bit forceful in his message that I return his call. He left no company name only the 800-491-9748 phone number. (caller ID had 480-302-5787) The number he called on is one I recently changed because of collection calls for OTHER PEOPLE. Surprise! Same thing here! I called the number back this morning, reached "RJ" who was quite pleasant (shock there!). He asked if I called from the number that received the call (after reading that they capture numbers, of course I did) and stated they were looking for another person. This other person had the number before me and this is not the first time I have received collection calls for them. I simply explained that I'd had this number for about a month and RJ assured me he would remove it from their call list. We'll see...

I?m a receptionist, and at my work we get calls from this number about once a month.  It?s a recording from Marcus, or ?Mah-cus? as he says it.  He tells me we have some business to talk about and that I can talk to him directly at his 800 number.  Now that I have the number, I?m going to find out how to get taken off the list.  If you call the number though, you will be taken off of that company?s opt-out list, so you can?t do that either.

Constantly leaving messages on my home phone saying "you have important business with our office" and to call 800-491-9748. I called back and they wanted all kinds of information about a family member and then private information about us. I told them not to call back and the calls keep coming. Woman's name was Deanna and her extension is 4327. Her rep i.d. is 552212.

They cannot announced why they are calling because they are trying to collect a debt and it is against the FDCPA (which protects your privacy) to announce why they are calling. If you are a debtor and owe a bunch of money would you want everyone knowing it? Just call them back and quit trying to hide from your debt!

If they are calling you it is probably because you haven't paid your bills. If you don't owe any money then you don't have anything to worry about and you should call them back and they will remove your number. Most people don't know that they can be sued for NON-PAYMENT of debt and they may live in a state where their wages can be garnished. Better to pay your bill then to try and hide from it!
