Update: I just reported this all to the FCC, BBB of New York, where this 800 number is registered to a business, and my state's attorney general.  BBB already has a warning up about this company, but it doesn't hurt to complain again so they know it's still happening.  I encourage everyone else to do the same.  Here is where you can complain (I suggest you copy and paste the narrative of your story, as you will need to use it in all three places).

I too received a phone call from this 1-800-493-1359 today.  They played me a recording of my own voice, approving a $599 bill, which I know I did not approve.  I work for a school and get calls about once a week, updating the school's information from various school search online companies (legit companies), who give school's a free listing, and then try to sell you an upgraded listing.  The "recording" this supposed "local online yellow pages" company had was of me saying my name, and then a series of yes's and no's.  I certainly did not hear the recorded "customer service rep's" side of the conversation when he asked if I approved a charge of $599.  Additionally, we canceled all of our paid Yellow Pages listings over 2 years ago, and no longer do anything with Yellow Pages as a company policy.

The woman on the phone, Caroline Johnson, said that we received a series of invoices that have been unpaid, and if I didn't pay them today we would be sent to collections.  I told her they were trying to scam me,and that though it was a recording of my voice, I did not hear the customer service side they played to me, and that I never made the approval.  When I asked to speak with her supervisor, she told me that her supervisor would not be canceling my bill, that supervisors cannot just cancel a bill because a customer doesn't feel like paying, then hung up on me.  When I called the number back I asked for a supervisor and was transferred back to this woman, who again told me that she would not put me through to her supervisor, and hung up on me again.

I'm going to report them wherever I can.

We also received a call from this number, around August 2012. The woman calling said she had spoken with the owner of our company (who at the time of this call was out of the office) about canceling the service. She asked to me to confirm the mailing address, and fax number then asked if I could receive the paperwork since the owner was out of the office. Thinking nothing of receiving cancellation paperwork I said YES.
I left a note about the call and the information that would be coming to us, on the owners desk.  The next day I found out we never had a yellow pages account and it was probably a scam.  We never received ANY SORT OF PAPERS from them until January 21,2013 when they faxed a past due invoice in the amount of $667.39. We have contacted our lawyer and will not be paying this! They called and faxed again this morning to let us know we are being sent to collections.

Now the phone calls are becoming threatening, stating if we don't take our comments back they will send their corporate attorneys after us. They are relentless.

This is an extortion scam where they present a FAKE bill for an unauthorized ad on yellow pages. They may even threaten to send the FAKE bill to collections and if they do, expect harassment from collection calls.

Called and told me our business manager had given them my name to act on her behalf to authorize ads in the "Online Yellow Pages."  Found out later our business manager had done no such thing, so they fraudulently received "my" authorization.

They claimed that we had an overdue bill with them. We have a company policy against paying for yellow page ads. I did a search for them and most of the first page was about scams.
