Great advice posted by an attorney on:
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-732-0174
"IF they do not provide you with the verification of the debt, the debt is invalid and not subject to collection. PAY NOTHING TO ANYBODY UNLESS THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF THE DEBT, AND ONLY THEN IF YOU FEEL THE DEBT IS VALID - otherwise, let them sue you for the debt, as a real law firm will only bring a legal action on a truly valid debt".

I keep getting calls from this company. I answered them once and they said I owed for a credit card I had consolidated over 4yrs ago. I asked them to send me information and/or a statement, then said they had sent information and they tried to confirm my address. It was some address I had never heard of let alone lived at. Sounds sketchy to me.

This company keeps calling my cell, but I never pick up. I am on a do-not-call list, and I don't owe anyone a cent. They never leave a message.

Kept getting calls from 800-504-2429. They would leave a message for someone named Demetri Jolly??? No idea who that is. I've had the same cell # for years so I am suspicious as to why this is happening now. I called back which was probably not a good idea, and let them know that Demetri Jolly was not at this # and that I had no idea who that was. The lady, Ms Abrahams, stated that she would remove my # and apologized for the inconvenience. Since I never stated my # when I called, I asked her if she needed my # to verify that it was removed from their system. She said yes, and then read off my # which was one # off. I corrected her (which was also probably not a good idea) and she said "yes, I'm sorry I misspoke" and hung up. That threw up red flags for me and made me wonder if they were fishing.
Can anyone explain why they would call a phone # looking for a person, knowing that the person is not at that #? What is the intention behind that?

They called my house today and asked for my husband's ex-wife of 15 years. Too bad this isn't the first one. We get calls all the time. She apparently has an aversion to paying her bills.
First, you need to make sure that you don't know the person they are asking for. If you do, give it up and tell them any information they're seeking. That's the quickest way to get them off the line. Most of the time, they are calling your number based on credit history, address history and phone history. Credit Collectors will go to distant cousins and old roommates to find out the information they are seeking.
I usually re-iterate that the phone number they called is publicly registered to my husband and I. That the address attached to that phone number is legally registered to my husband and I. His divorce is public record. And that our marriage is public record as well. Knowing all of these facts, they can reasonably conclude that they are calling the wrong person on purpose and are indeed violating my rights.
After you have both agreed that you are not the person they are seeking, then you need to tell them that if they call your home phone number again, that it will be considered harassment and that you will be forced to seek legal action.
Ask for their company name. Ask for that person's name and any extension number they might have. Let them know that you WANT to have this conversation recorded so that when you sue them for harrassment, they will have their own records to reference. Note the date and time that your call began and ended. Let them know that you've written this down.
I've been going through this for 7 years now and I've got it down to a science. Unfortunately, you will have to repeat this process every time they sell the debt to another agency as one threat of lawsuit only applies to the one calling at the time.
Good Luck!

These people are calling my cell# and asking for me, I I tell them they have the wrong # because I don't know who they are, then ask for my mother. I recently applied for one car loan with my mom as a co applicant. I think they are getting the info from this car dealership. It was Berge Ford dealer so be careful when you are applying for credit. I think Berge Ford sold our credit info to this company.

In the past three days I have had 4 additional calls asking for different people on my same cell phone. Word to whoever is doing this: if you're committing a fraud try to get the name of the person you are trying to scam instead of going through the damn phone book.
I called the Seattle Police Department

Received a voice mail from this number 800-504-2429. I am very baffled and I strongly believe they're a scam using some sort of number forwarding to disguise who they really are. The reasons I know this...
1. I've have NEVER in my entire life not settled a debt! My credit is absolutely blemish free.
2. I have lived at this same address for 3 yrs. and not one letter from the company they say they are (Capitol Management) has ever contacted me via letter or VM on my actual (personal) phone number that I've had for... oh about 10 yrs.
3. The number they called is my land line and it IS listed under my name. No creditor would ever have this number because I just received it about 1yr ago. Unless creditors started googling for people that owe them money? --I doubt it.
4. The women on the voice mail says my name, then she proceeded to play an automated message that asks for someone else???? Umm.... WHY?
All these reason point to FRAUD! Every one please beware and smarter before you ever give your personal information over the phone. ALWAYS look up who they are, and the company they represent. If you don't remember anything regarding it. Have them send you letter with a company letter head so that you may contact the ACTUAL company. NO scam artist would go through this much trouble...right? Be careful!

I just got a call on my cell from the 800-504-2429 people and she was very rude, said whe was first looking for a guy then was looking for a girl after I told her she had the wrong number. Then demended to know how longe I had the phone number.
SHe then told me the address of the person she was lookinf for, whis wasnt my address either.
I'm wondering is its a hacker scam to get a persons info.

looking for someone I don't know they have been informed of that person not living here and they continue to call. Last call was addressed to me saying that I knew the whereabouts of this person, when I called them to tell them they were wrong they started asking why I was hiding my father. My current last name is my married name. Lady got all offended cause I raised my voice at her and totally dismissed my call and hung up on me. These people are wrong ruthless, and can care less whether they have the right people or not
