I keep getting calls from this company for someone named Ivy Loftis, who may have had this phone number before me.  I too can't seem to get to real person to say this is not Ivy's number.  Has anyone had any success getting the errors corrected?  Thanks!

Unfortunately they are a legit student loan company. The kicker is that they gave large loans out that people  didn't have the credit to qualify for, so now they use sleazy tactics to try and recoup what they can. I pay my bill in full every month and they still call and say I'm behind. For instance, paid it yesterday, it wasn't due til the 18th, yet I got a call this morning: ON A SUNDAY. Someone needs to set up a lawsuit against them...

Repeatedly leaves automated messages almost daily on my machine. I cannot call them back because the number they give is an automated message and I don't have an account number to enter. Their website provides no public contact information to reach a human without an account number. Thus, I cannot stop these automated phone calls that are meant for someone else. I filed a complaint with the FTC.

I received a message from this number addressed to a person with a similar name to mine, but when I called back to tell them they had the wrong number, I couldn't get through to anyone without typing in an ID number or Social Security number.  I'm certainly not typing in mine since these people are obviously so bad at collecting that they are contacting someone who doesn't even have the same initials as the person they are trying to collect on...  I don't know what to think or how to get them to stop calling.  The nature of my work does not allow me to answer my phone often, if at all, and I can't get through on a call back--any ideas?

They called me too and I think it's a scam as I have all my loans up to date and they wanted personal information.  I called ACS and they said that if they call, they wouldn't ask for personal inforamtion as they are the ones calling.  They woould only ask to confirm my name.

These folks keep calling at all hours of the day and into the night.  Yes, I have a student loan which currently is behind, and have told them several times that I am currently working temporary and very part time only - that can change any day.

I am making just enough to cover my other bills, while sharing a house with my parents. I have paid almost every month on the loan, just not the amount they want from me.

I have also requested that they contact me in writing only, which they have refused to do.

Unfortunately we don't have caller ID. I hang up on them - when I am working full time or more hours, I will send them more money.

I feel sorry for people who can only find work with such companies. The scripts they must read are laughable - if it's obvious that I'm only paying so much a month, why in the world would you ask me if I'm can pay the entire amount I am behind right now?

Collection agency trying to collect money for a student loan. Since I've never had a student loan and they have no record of me I have no idea why they keep calling every couple of months. (They left a message on my voice mail.)

The best thing you can do to get these people to stop calling you is to ask for a forbearance, a deferrment or lower payments based on your income. Any one of these will get the company to stop bothering you. Most of the Student Loan companies have all of these forms online and even have them set up for you to submit it online too.
Good luck :)

Anna - have done that two times, and was informed that a third time would be my last. I live with my parents, who aren't in the best of health and don't need to be bothered with this, which is why I have repeatedly requested that they do not call. If I had the money to send them a registered letter, I would, but my other bills have eaten up the temporary pay I make. I want to keep that third forbearance for when something happens to either or both of my folks.

ACS has called at least twice so far today, just finished calling again as I overheard on the answering machine.  These last two calls have been less than thirty minutes apart.  I don't begrudge the people their jobs, but I sure hate the companies!

I owe for a loan.   Ok.  I do. But they called and the message said I have college records that are in need of updating. Huh?  How could that be?  It is scare tactic?  I hope so. I too have had several forbearances.

Hi, I have received this message about college records in need of updating.  I called their 800 number that they left on the phone message which is different than that which shows up on caller ID.  Whenever I have heard from ACS they identify themselves as such.  When I called the number that was left on the phone message, I got an automated response from what identified themselves as "Loan Services", but no ACS.  It also asked me to punch in my account number or social security number.  There were no other options. Since both me and my spouse have student loans and it didn't mention either name in their message (unlike ACS),it seems to be suspicious to me.  ACS would give you an option of speaking with a human being, this didn't.  It just wanted my account numbers.  I am guessing if they actually got an account or social security number perhaps they then would have asked for other info such as a pin # or birthday, ect.  I think it is someone trying to fish for my personal info which I refuse to give.

This is a legit number.  It is with ACS student loans.  I have a student loan with them and have been delinquent two different times.  Those times I have received a call from this number.  They tell me who they are, and for security reasons only ask for the last 4 digits of my SSN and billing address.  They do NOT ask for the entire SSN. Outside of that, I never receive calls from them when I pay on time.

I also got called from this number today. I am very scared. I know I will begin paying them after next semester when I graduate, but it's not the time to even ask for anything. I bet someone must have sold student information and now they're looking into making fraud with us.

I just received a voice mail from this number stating that "This message is for in regards to..." No name even mentioned. I do have student loans, but I make monthly payments and have no late payments and am caught up currently. I will most likely not call them back, but just wanted to inform everyone that it might be a scam because I have no late payments, nothing past due, and I still received a phone call.

Never EVER give you Social Security number out over the phone!  Especially to someone whom you don't know working for a firm you have never done business with.  This is likely an identify SCAM.  If this were about your loan then they would request your load ID number.

Having your name and your social security number, they are 2/3rds of the way to being able to steal your identity.  The only missing element is your birthdate.
