Got a phone message from a Brian Goldstein who left this number.  Said he was from the Loan Modification program and my loan qualified so I won't go into foreclosure if I called them back.

I got the same call, but they said they were lawyers for Countrywide Home Loans.  The company name stated was 1st Connect.  I have called the 800 # 800-518-0813 and asked for Brian Goldstein and they said he would call me back asap.  Never did.  I called this morning, and the # is now disconnected.  hmmmm..... possible another CHL scam???

I got the same exact message. I think it sounds like he's bored with his job.

Well, I have one for you... 2 nights ago I started getting phone calls on my cell at around midnight from many people who said they received a call from me, and that the number showed up on their caller ID. The number that showed up was MY cell phone number. I received 29 calls last night alone, 10/2/08, all from different people that insisted they received a call from a Brian Goldstein who was calling them regarding refinancing or behind on mortgage loan payments and that they help get them out of debt and to please call them back at 1-800-518-0813. Yet, MY cell number shows up on the caller ID log of the people the solicit to.
So, I called the 800 number several times each person either hung up on me after I explanined my situation, or they tried transferring me to a person that could help me with my "debt". And when I ask for Brian Goldstein, he is either in a meeting or out of the office. I even had one person tell me Bob Goldstein isn't in the office, after I asked him about Brian Goldstein. He even proceeded to tell me that "Oh Brian and Bob are brothers, they are managers here and are out of the office." - how convenient.

Well I called back again, this time claiming I needed mortgage help and they forwarded me to kirkland Holdings in Irving, CA. The guy tells me there that Debt Relief is located in Ottowa, Canada, and that they are a contracted call center that fields calls for people that were solicited to and then they (debt relief) forwards the calls to various different financial institutions to help people with their loans, debt, etc.

I currently have people investigating this for me. I don't want to have to change my number that I've had for 12 years now. But I'm postitive I'll find a solution to this. It's all about who you know. As soon as I find out, I'll be back here to post the outcome.

I got a call from them.. got a similar call the other day with a 702 area code, my wife called them back and they hung up on her.
I'm on a do-not-call list, though, and I reported it.

From a group called Relief Now - a recording requests you call 800-518-0813 for debt relief. When I called and requested they take my office phone off their calling list, the Ebonics-stricken young man simply chuckled at me and hung up. Calling back a second time rendered the same result. Three days ago I received a similar message, called and attempted to have my number removed, and received the same treatment. Who are these integrity-challenged individuals and how can they be stopped?
