888 466-4427 called to sell natural gas. Told them we are on the Do Not Call list and asked for their corporate headquarters phone number. Called that number, 1-800-530-9494, and was greeted with a question - "What is your social security number". After explaining that I don't randomly give out my SS number and asked to speak with a manager she connected me to a man who said he is with US Bank.
I doubt it... Banks answer the phone with the company name followed by "how may I help you". That is if you aren't greeted first with a recording of departments and corresponding numbers to enter.
Best bet is to register with the Do Not Call list and report all phone numbers for scammers who call you.

I received a call from 800-434-4240 saying it was US Bank offering a credit card, to my employer.  Scary thing is that I could have easily done it, since he said that he had me as the contact.  Anyway, I called the number back and got on the DNC list, and I called the number he gave me 800-530-9454 and reported the situation to them too.

I received a call saying it was US Bank and to check I could call this 800 number ext 9300. Is it legitimate? He said I could call and verify that his name was Brian Wessel #092127. Then he started asking me to verify my information so a 0% platinum card could be sent out. I passed.

received call from 800 530454. said it was us bank. wanted  my account  number.

This was US Bank trying to sell me their credit card.
