got a call from 619-378-3053, said he needed to speak to the owner. Since this isn't the first time these looser call, I told the guy to stop calling, told him we were not interested and hung up. He called right back and started cussing at me... I did the same and hung up again. I can't wait for him to call back. ;)

I've been getting phone calls all week from this company BEN WILLIAMS at SMS; wants to speak with the owner, who he asks for by name.  When I asked what they do, he says he had a meeting with the owner and this is a follow-up call.   Of course, I checked with the owner and no way is this a legitimate call.  I informed the gentleman, that the owner was not going to take his call, he said he would call back in 15 minutes.  I suggested that he call every 15 minutes all day, and that I would look forward to his calls, but he would still not be speaking with the owner.  I'm hoping the calls will stop.

Every Monday morning, we get a call from these pinheads.... "ya is Bob in .." Loud, tacky and just no clue.  I always ask 101 questions and give him the runaround, I wonder why he keeps calling back. .. He changes his name every now and then but the unprofessional voice stands out every time.

I can't imagine my workdays consisting of pounding the phones, being pushy and rude, lying through my teeth, and getting absolutely nowhere, day after day, week after week, month after month.  

It's unfortunate because with the amount of effort these people put into being idiots, they could really accomplish something VALUABLE had they been honest, upfront and professional.  Hence .. idiots  LOL

Thank you for your posts I also got a massage about call from Terry Perkins 1-800-531-9585 concerning a job that he wants talk to me about. After reading the posts I did not call him back.

The newest excuse I've received from SMS (619-378-3053) is "I'm actually needing to speak to him or one of his partners as soon as possible. I'm at a job site." Yeah buddy. SMS pops up on the Caller ID & it's an automatic transfer to voice mail.

Received a call from 800--531-9585 Sean claiming to be able to increase our business at our repair shop with DRP and Fleet Work. He was even claiming he was from Oak Park Illinois. I am not bothering anyone here with this nonsense.

same everyone elses.  Rude, unprofessional, uneducated guy aaked for the owner by first name.  "Sean" said he was with Ken Swatofsky's office and gave this ph#.  I told him I would pass on the message - he said "what message - do you even know what we do"  I said you are very unprofessional.  Bingo - that's the right thing to say - he hung up telling me never mind he didn't want our business.

Received a call from Sean at SMS Construction, Oak Park office, phone number 800-531-9585 ext 56328 saying they are a residential construction company, but not.  Wasn't very clear about what he or the company did.  Said I wasn't in and would call them back if interested.  

Caller ID showed number 224-676-7533, similar complaints for this number.

Do you still get calls from them? This same person called, again (almost daily), and I said "You're company has called several times and each time I tell you he's not interested. Could you please remove our number from your list?" and he responds with "Interested? Get interested in this." and he hung up.

We have received many harassing phone calls from these ppl asking for "the owner" (never asks for a specific person).  We have told them to stop calling several times and they end the call with "I'll call back later" and actually do.  I have filed a complaint with the FCC and suggest anyone that receives calls from these ppl do that as well.

This guy calls and asks for the owner by first name.  To me, he sounded just like a salesman.  But I just told him that he wasn't available and could I get him to call him back and he said, "Sure."  His name is Terry Perkins.  He did not identify his company, but said they are developers and contractors and that they are in Panama City Beach (which is about 60 miles from our office.  He also left this 800 number of 531-9585.  I guess by saying "they are developers and contractors" he thought we would immediately think it was someone wanting a quote for our services.  Now that I know better, I won't be giving my boss his message and if he calls again, I'm just going to say the same thing every time as I will recognize his salesman-like voice.  Thanks 800notes.com!!!!

On June 24th I received a call from "Jessica Burke" of "GPS" which she claimed was a development company and asked to speak to our owner using his real first name (which he doesn't go by).  I told her that he wasn't available and she had the nerve to ask for his cell phone number.  (Yeah right!)  She left her "cell phone" number which was a Chicago number but she tried to lie and say she was local and just hasn't gotten around to changing her number.  (Google the number 312-519-6999 and you will see she's an obvious liar.)  Once we googled her and saw that GPS is also IPA and read some of the horror stories, we called her back and told her to take us off her list and to never call again.  Of course then the next day, just as others had reported, a man calls claiming he had a 1:00 pm appt set up with our owner (which he didn't as the owner wasn't even in town at the time).  When we told him there was no such appt he got irate and we asked him to not call back again.  Of course he calls back two hours later claiming the same thing (guess he thought he would get someone else) and I told him we knew GPS was also IPA and to stop calling.  I added that I have already warned building security about him and he would be thrown out and the police called if he tried to show up (as they have a tendency to do according to other internet reports).  He cursed at me and hung up.  The NEXT DAY someone else calls claiming to be from "SMS Corporation" and a "Ryan Latinger's" office.  He claimed "Ryan" had dropped off a business card and wanted to follow up as our owner said he wanted to meet with him.  Of course this never happened and I told him he could email us any info as we don't do business over the phone.  He called back today saying the same excuse.  I told him we never received a business card nor did he ever email us.  I asked him if his company was related to GPS/IPA and he stammered and said, "Well uhh, I've been here a year and I haven't heard anything about that."  He then MIRACULOUSLY found his "notes" saying to email us and when I asked him to repeat the email address, he hung up on me.  I called the number back and told a woman in "Client Services" that we have no intention of EVER doing business with GPS/IPA/SMS and that if they call us back again, I will inform the police they are harrassing us.  She claimed it wouldn't happen again.  We will see.  I bet they call back tomorrow with some other fake business name.  They are based out of Chicago/Deerfield, IL and they are known for trying to scam businesses out of money.  IF THEY CALL HANG UP ON THEM IMMEDIATELY!  Don't even try to talk to them because they won't ever leave you alone if you do.

received a call from "lindsey" she got through my secretary representing them as a major development firm that needs to sign up contractors for upcoming major projects, set up appointment for John Snell, Mr Snell came by and said they needed to do an analysis. Needed to set up appointment with another individual who would explain everything and do a "pre-qual" analysis and would not cost anything for the 2nd appointment unless i wanted to sign up. He then handed me a form that said I would pay $750 to start the analysis. I told him i wasn't interested and shook his hand and showed him the door.

Called our CEO's personal cell with the same script everyone else has mentioned. also gave a cell phone number for "his Boss" 619-816-8744

Call from "T. Norris House" from SMS, Rude and aggressive from the very beginning, asked for someone here but then said they want to speak to the president, totally botched both names, mentioned they are in the Construction Bidding business and his President wanted to come over tomorrow and meet with our President. I could hear someone in the background clapping yelling "lets get going people"!

I proceeded to ask the usual questions and he got more annoyed, asked him if we had done something that bothered him and he said whats with all the questions, is this homeland security or something. I asked for his name again just to bug him and placed him on hold. I got back on the line and let him know that the president was unavailable but may I have him call him back, he said again in a very rude manner "What is his name, repeated myself and asked for his number as I Googled "SMS" and found all of the above. He hung up.

He called from 619-378-3053 which I called back and received a lovely speaking lady that asked for the name of the company he said he was calling from, she said all calls get routed back to her then said it would take an hour but she would be able to listen to the conversation and get us taken off the list. She didn't ask for our business name just the main line phone#. She said within 24 hours we shouldn't receive anymore calls and this shall be taken care of internally.

This companys' employee threatened to kill me.  I have filed a police report.

I received a call from SMS, asking for owner, looked up SMS and saw they were a rip-off company, told the caller there was absolutely no way the owner would be available to speak to him.  He yelled, don't talk to me like that b*tch.  I hung up.  He then called back and TOLD ME HE WAS GOING TO CUT MY THROAT, THAT HE WAS GOING TO KILL ME.  I have filed a report with the police.

Very rude people. Will not get off the phone and argue with you. These people will scam you. I have a lawyer involed to get them to stop calling. They have multiple numbers. The most recent is 425-214-4627, 425-372-7515. These guys are trouble.

same as above.  called, spoke fast, asked for owner by name.   they also called back even though told not to.  gave illlegitimate websites.    also, gave a local address that does not exist.  be careful.

I get calls from these people on a daily basis.  Have already told them to take our number off their list and not to call back, but they don't get it.  I now leave them on "eternal ignore" until they finally hang up.

Keep getting calls from - Ahmad Caldwell - probably not a real name. They wont tell you what the company does or SMS stands for. They make up stories just to try and make an appointment - to have someone come to the office for a face to face meeting. its a hoax from telemarketing company who gets paid for each appointment. Don't waste your time or if you want to get with them, make an appointment after your close time and make them come and spend their gas, they will finally get it.

I keep getting calls from "SMS corporation" asking for the owner. this girls name is Lilly & she sounds seriously intoxicated!  same thing about being in town & wanting to meet. won't leave a number just keeps insisting she will call back! very annoying! now that i know it is a hoax, i will have to go off on her now!

I also got a call from Terry Perkins who said he was with GPS Company. He said they do Construction Management and Project Planning, and was following up on a mailer he sent last week. Sounded fishy to me, so I googled the phone number. Thanks to everyone for your comments on this telemarketer, so that I don't waste my President's time.

i have been getting calls from 800-531-9585 Terry Perkins as well. he wants to speak to the company owner and asks for him  by name, about getting a quote from us for work to be done. Again, he wont leave a message and is more rude with each phone call. I love the idea to give him the police department address for an appointment. that will be step. Thanks for that advice!

Received a call from Bradford at SMS.  They're a telemarketing company.  Asked for owner or co-owner.  Yeah I don't think so.

Got a call from Terry Perkins - He said he was from our area and wanted to talk to the owner (he was going to "send some business our way") I thought that was fishy and so I googled the number. IPA - Ha! We have dealt with them before....and would rather not ever again.

Got a Call - Brad from SMS Corporation - Caller ID was local he wanted to talk to the President about a letter from SMS and was very evasive when I asked about the purpose/subject of his call. He insisted to call him back on 800-number to let him know if the letter arrived - the whole conversation was fishy and I felt suspicious since my questions were not directly answered / evaded.

I got a call from SMS with a local number of which I called back and they said it was Client Services.  I was told to call Terry back at 800-531-9585.  He was very nice and said they were an engineering firm that would be doing project planning in Blacksburg after the first of the year and wanted a call back from the owner, asked for him by his first name.  Blacksburg is 45 minutes from here. Googled the 800 number because sounded fishy when didn't give me the local number.

After getting a call from this number and setting an appointment something still seemed fishy.  So I came to this website and after reading the posts above it all sounded like what I had just been told.  I called back to cancel the appointment and now they will not take my call.  These bums need to be put out of business.

Yes, total crap. Very rude and pushy. Great idea on wasting their time by sending them to the police or a vacant property! Love it, wont do it though, but good idea. They are so manipulative... Didn't get past me... almost, but nope.
