ICT Group is a boiler room telemarketing agency that sell scams from the USA using call centers.

If you are on the DNC list it does not matter anymore.  Your government does not care a wit about what you want.

It never did.

You pay government fools to do nothing all day.
Lie to your face.
Rob you  blind with taxes
Print money to the point a loaf of bread is 4 bucks.
They take your peace of mind and privacy away.

All so the governments of the world can flog some piece of crap timeshare from a Hong Kong call center.

You are all being lied to.

BEWARE.  They called me and said they were "Sikes" calling on behalf of Bell Canada. Had the nerve to say the call was being recorded. Wanted to know: "Do you have a computer in the house?". I hung up.

ICT works for Bell, she did not 'pretend' to call for Bell, ICT is hired BY Bell to make these calls. Bell doesn't have their own call centres, they hire others.
And nope, you can't get ICT in trouble, because Bell provided them with YOUR number, it's Bell's responsibility not ICTs!

Merci

Got a call from 1-800-540-7679. Said she was from ICT Marketing for BELL CANADA. This is the standard marketing call from Bell to offer new services to current customers. They do not leave messages on answering machines.

il faut faire attention car des compagnies avec qui vous faites affaire et qui vous offrent la possibilité de réduire vos coûts, c'est illogique. Elles sont là pour faire de l'argent non pour vous en faire écnomiser.

First pretended to call from Bell.
Then after asking questions, told was calling on behalf of Bell.
During the call I googled for the number showing in the call display, led to this page.
I asked her if she was calling from ICT in Montreal.
She said, no, she was calling from Lindsey Ontario.
I then asked, are you calling on BEHALF of ICT?
She said, yes.

I then told her that ICT is failing to observe the do-not-call list as set out by the CRTC.
She apologized for this.
I told her that recently Bell got in trouble for making unsolicited calls, and that theoretically I could get ICT in trouble.
She then told me to have a nice day and hung up.

Why is ICT getting away with breaking these rules?

You can get dry loop DSL for Internet. It means your phone line is used for DSL and only DSL. You can't dial or receive calls on it. It's what I have. I abandoned Bell years ago for Vonage because they offer unlimited local calling and LD in the States and Canada plus several European countries (like the UK). My ISP has to deal with them (Bell gets the last mile).

No phone number is safe from blind dialling computers. Never give your cell number out to any company or government agency.

I'm with Doug (above) on this one.  Get calls from this number every week, despite having registered with the DNC at its inception, and again last week.  There's no end to it.

BTW, I also signed the internet-capping petitions (there were several of them at the start of the controversy), but I wonder what good it will do?  My Internet service has been going downhill since December -- slow, low pings, you name it.  We call them almost every day to complain -- I mean really, what ARE we paying for?

Same with Bell.  What am I paying for, when 98% of every call we get each month is a telemarketer or other fraud call?  We simply never answer the phone, and if we didn't need it for our Internet service, I would cancel immediately.

Even my private number cell phone isn't safe.  I'm getting telemarketing calls on it everyday now for the last 7 weeks. Sheesh.

Call from this number, but no message.  Callback reveals it is Sykes, a reputable consumer-contact go-between, but I do not want unsolicited calls at all.

Must second Doug's Feb 1/11 suggestion -- please join the protest against internet usage caps at openmedia.ca.  Lots of info there on why it is ridiculous that the CRTC have capitulated to the big providers and how important it is for all of us to keep the pressure on our Canadian Gov't to prevent capping.

Consent calling from this number. Never leave a message either. The previous comment said "Maybe if they stick Bell with another huge fine, theyll decide to play by the rules." Well, they make the rules, having pushed through the CRTC anything they want. Now it's internet capping for every one being pushed though, yet another screw from Bell and their friends at the CRTC. Every one please sign the petition on openmedia.ca, for your own good. It seems to me that the last time I checked, the CRTC is part of the government, which means they work for us right?

Yesterday's newspaper reported that Bell has just been hit with a $1.3 million fine because telemarketers they had engaged were calling folks whose phone numbers are on the do-not-call list.  My home number is definitely registered as do-not-call, although I suppose Bell could argue that they can call me, as we have an existing relationship.

I called the 800 number back tonight, and went through the steps to register my phone number on their internal do-not-call list.  It takes up to 72 hours to register -- and if I get calls after that, I will be contacting the CRTC.  Maybe if they stick Bell with another huge fine, theyll decide to play by the rules.

Like the last person, I'm also from Toronto and I received the call on December 8th at 9am. The caller id says "ICT Group" and the number was 1-800-540-7679. Nobody in my house answered it, I think. This is the first time they've called. I work in call centres myself so I know the drill. LOL A business I made a transaction with probably gave my information to ICT Group. I have been doing a lot of shopping lately online. Telemarketers are not calling to save you money. If it is Bell, like others have said, the aim of the call is to switch you to a plan that will cost more in the long run. Bell has a right to share our information to 3rd parties, I think. Most companies do. Even the banks.

The company now using this phone number is SYKES, I believe they replaced ICT or just changed their name.
They call on behalf of Bell to sell or upgrade your Bell phone services and offer promotions.
This is one of the few reputable companies I would talk with.
Simply put they have access to your Bell phone records, then you know it is legitimate company.
Also they ask for you by name in order to get the correct person(s) who are authorised to change the account.
Other questionable companies ask you if you are with Bell and what services you have.
If you don't want them to call you, tell them. Then when they call, say "Put me on your do not call list" and they will and at least "that" company won't bother you for a while.
