Yes. Same thing. I have a 615 Sprint phone.

Sprint says there is nothing they can do about it?  Does that mean they don't have the technology to stop these unwanted, malicious text messages, or they don't want to stop them?  Assume the latter because for many accounts, Sprint charges their customers to receive texts.  In fact, they may have sold the spammers your number.

My husband has received 2 text messages from this number stating the same thing. We both have Sprint and 615 area codes. I have not received any of these texts. I just talked to Sprint and they said if they are text messages there is nothing they can to about it but if they are actually calling they can block your phone from receiving any telemarketer calls on your number.

To follow up on my comment I had closed my account with this bank.  The # when you call wants three pieces of info...after they asked for my credit card info I hung up as I knew then it was really a scam(had a hunch)..I am calling the bank tomorrow.  THis is kinda scary because what if someone puts in their info not realizing because they are panicked about their account? it says if you do this they will restore your account immediately.

I got a text saying my TIC FCU account is closed due to unusual activity and to call this # 18005496135  I called and they want your credit card # on that account.  I hung up.  I have sprint but how did they know we used to have an account at this bank?  Also we have sprint with a 706 area code?

I just received a text saying my TIC FCU account was closed due to unusual  activity. I have Alltel and my area code is 706. Obviously not only sprint customers are receiving these messages. I called the number, but didn't give them any info.

Just got a text but it says" your TIC FCU account is closed due to unusal activity. Call us @ 1-800-549-6135. I do not have an account with this CU. I have no idea how or why they sent this to me. I will not be responding.

My cell phone is with Sprint and in the 615 area code. I have received two text messages. The first one was on 10/15/08 around 10am and the second one was this morning (11/11/08) at 3:16am! Same message as described above. The first one had this number to respond: 1-888-504-1716. The second one had this number to respond: 1-800-549-6135.

Have any of you called the number?

I just received the samde message and I'm on hold with the actual credit union. I don't even have money with this company. This is really annoying, because I too have Sprint and a 615 area code, and they charge me for all incoming text messages. This is ridiculous. Has anyone called the 800 number sent in the text?

FUNNY...the victims of this text seem to be Sprint customers with 615 area codes.  I just received the message at 12:14 pm CST.

This is the second time I have received this same exact text. I too have a 615 area code Sprint number!

Southeast Financial seems to be a legit. Tennessee credit union.  They have published this notice on their web page, "Note: We have recently been notified that fraudulent text messages have been sent with reference to Southeast Financial. The message states, "Your SOUTHEAST FINANCIAL FCU account is closed due to unusual activity..." This message was NOT from our company and we would never contact you via a text message for any purpose.

Readers please comment:  Does your cell phone have a 615 area code?  Is it a Sprint phone?

just got the same message--sounds like a PHISHING expedition to me too.

I just called Sprint. They say they can't trace unbilled calls, but I should get a phone number when I get my bill. Probably the 800 number. Is anyone falling for this? Maybe I'll forward this no. to the FBI. Not that anything will happen.

Same message at 9:00 pm CST although it was dated 6:55 am.  I wonder if Sprint is behind this.  In the past they have sold their cell phone numbers to "third party marketers," and their customers down the river.

Same thing for me. Don't know who Southeast financial is, but I'm calling Sprint to see if they can block this.

Just got the text at 6:49pm (CST). Said the same as those above. I knew it was a scam so I came here. :)

I wonder how they got our numbers...and better yet, how it came across as "southeastfinancial" as opposed to a phone number.

Do not fall for this trap.

2 text messages sent fromt this number. It says it is southeast financial and that my account has been closed due to odd activity. When you call the number all they want is your credit card number. I know its a scam and its making me mad!
