Call is from DIAL AMERICA. They will give a whole 12.5% to Special Olympics--the other 87% is for their costs!!!. Their real phone number is 800-913-3331--a person named Denise will take your message. Tell her--no more phone calls from Dial America. By the way--Oregon state now refuses to allow telemarketers such as Dia America to call their residents

I have to wonder if it is really the Special Olympics or if they are using that story to scam people. If it was really the Special Olympics, I would think they would have their name on the caller ID which would cause people to be more likely to pick up the phone.

"Special Olympics" They have been calling once a day every workday for the last week. I highly doubt this is legit - I don't think the special olympics has that kind of funding to call ALL THE FREAKING TIME! If you want to donate, go to their website and do a secure donation. Giving out card information over the phone, no matter what the cause, is too risky.

The calle was a rep from The Special Olympics. This year instead of donations they are asking people to take magazine subcriptions at discounted cost. The proceeds will go to The Special Olympics. I told the caller that I was unemployeed and that I was very sorry. He insisted again. I repeated myself then he gave in and thanked me for my time before hanging up.

the call came in at 7pm on Jan 3rd my mom answered the phone and said "Hello" there was a muffled reply then the caller hung up.

DialAmerica... a phone-bank operation. They can be calling on behalf of any range of for-profit or non-profit, market research, political campaigns, government studies, whatever.
In this case they had a subscription sales scam going on in the guise of supporting the Special Olympics. Thing is, for all I know the pitch was absolutely legit, but I take exception to the come-on. They got me to stay on the line by first identifying themselves with the Special Olympics ? can't be rude to them ? then quickly assuring me they were not going to ask for any sort of a contribution. Okay, so what the heck, I'll listen nicely to the nice lady telling me nice things about the good things the Special Olympics folks are doing. Now that we're all being nice, I find myself in the middle of an opportunity to support the Special Olympics while getting great subscription rates.

Same thing - missed called, no message. Called back and it is or so the recording says that you received a call from the Special Olympics and that they will try to call again.

This one is humorous. Caller got my forwarding service and must have thought nothing they said would be heard until the beep...Wrong my service starts recording as soon as the call is pick up. my message is almost a full minute long just for the purpose that i might catch them saying something dumb or that id's them. well on this call the caller was telling her co worker about how she hated a certain thing her boyfriend does to her in the bedroom ( use your imagination) goes to show they only hire koledge grads.Good Luck and Damn the Torpedos full speed ahead!!
