I am 77 years old. I do not need duress. I keep getting a phone call from ACT like 4 times a day. This needs to stop. I'm going to report this to the FTC because we are being harrassed. I was YELLED at the other day, which is unacceptable. I keep getting calls from like a 900 #. They won't tell me who they are.
These time wasters called me 4 times a day for a 2 months and never once did I answer it. One of the last calls a voice spoke into my voice mail saying " I give up on this guy". The next call I got was from a woman giving me a number to call, but for what, I don't owe anyone but the IRS.
have just received a new phone line and not ten minutes after it was hooked up, i received a call from a place coming up as 0 on my caller id. after the third call they finally left a message to call them and it was already closed. I know they are not calling me, but they are scaring the H*** out of my children when they call with NO caller ID and no message. My kids have been kidnapped once and they are scared by the slightest thing. this is really b*** S***!
My mother is dying (pancreatic cancer) and I have explained this fact to ACT representatives who call incessantly day and night. I told one male respresentative, who called five minutes after the last, that she was not available. He said "make her available", I said "excuse me?" and he replied " put the phone in her hand." I was outraged!! They continue to call many times daily, knowing that she is not able to take phone calls. How can I make them stop? I have ask them as human beings to please not call her. They clearly get some perverse enjoyment out of harrassing a dying woman. They know full well this debt is uncollectible. I have written to them citing the Fair Credit Collection Act, and requesting they cease communication, but still they continue. It is disturbing to think of the lengths they will go!!! Other numbers they call from 8668368987, 8775971386, 8777680444, 8775971385, and 8669058941.
Received multiple calls from this number to my home phone. Several came in with caller ID of "Private Caller;" the last call came in under caller ID "276." No message was left initially. Then I received an automated message requesting a return call. After doing some research on this website, I saw the references to past-due Sprint accounts. No one at my address or associated with my home phone number has Sprint. I returned the call to 800-557-8113. The representative answered with, "Thank you for calling ACT." I informed her that I have received several calls and that I suspected it had something to do with a past-due Sprint account. I stated that no one here has an account with Sprint. She asked for my home number, which I was hesitant to provide, but I did. She then asked if a certain individual (by name) lived here. (This person happens to be my ex.) I informed her that he does not reside here. She stated that I would probably get one more phone call, but they will stop after that.
Long story short: You might be getting calls for friends, family or associates who either have or had Sprint service.
Received text message saying call 800-557-8113 - text was from 202-569-8527. I called the 800-557-8113 # and it was "closed". Not answered with name of company. Also had a "collect" call on home number from an out of area number around the same time.
I've been receiving daily messages from "UNKNOWN" on my caller ID. I finally checked the answering machine and retrieved a message saying, This is not a sales nor solicitation call, please return our call at 800-557-8113 Mon-Fri... and Sat.... They did leave the company name. When I called the number it was after hours and the message just says call back during business hours and leaves no company name. So I just ignored it. Finally after the calls continued, I googled the phone number and found out that it was ACT. They called yesterday and my husband spoke with them and called me to tell me what they were saying. I told him to tell them that I am not there and that I will call them back when I'm home. Appararently this is for a Sprint bill and I haven't been on Sprint for 8 months. It appears as though they charged me for part of the time that I had already switched to Verizon Wireless. I tried to resolve this with Sprint, but they didn't agree. I've got so much other stuff going on that I'm thinking about just letting this one get charged off, unless they want to receive $10-$20 a month.
This place is ridiculous I was dealing with a very nice lady at ACT explianed to her I needed to speak with my husband before I made any type of payment when in the middle of our conversation a man gets on the line being very rude asking why I can't make dissions for myself and on and on I did tell him he was a rude d****head because he made me so mad I was willing to work with them but then he had the nerve to talk to me like he did so I called sprint who the original bill was owed to and they worked right along with me.ACT continues to call and call my mother in law telling her they will call everday until my husband calls them back.The above number listed as ACT complaint line has apparently been disconnected.
received 3-4 calls a day now from this company.....11/18 11:11 Am 11/18 4:48 pm and 11/18 8:29pm....try calling and get there vm that they are closed....what is funny, as I was reading everyones comments was that this is a company that Sprint hires to do their collections...I work for Sprint so I know that I have nothing in collections....

Well, in doing some research, it appears that ACT is headquartered in PA, and its president is one Joseph Lembo. I would suggest calling his place of work and his home, as well as writing some "nice" ;-) emails to him suggesting his company change its behavior.
Also, the BBB report states they only have about 3 complaints filled against ACT. I would suggest that filling the correct number of complaints might change their rating.

My 13-year-old son kept getting multiple calls a day from 800-557-8113. They are a collection service Called ACT. I talked to a lady who was helpful and said that ACT works as a collection service for Sprint. My son has a TracFone and they are not affiliated with Sprint. She said that his number would be removed immediately. I had received several similar phone calls on my home phone, whose service is with Cox, so it seems to me that this service has to be shady. They were looking for a female...can't recall the name. Anyway, the calls to my home phone did stop after I called them.

Harrassing calls 3-4 per day telling me to call them back at 800-557-8113. When I call back, they will NOT identify what company ACT stands for. I don't owe any money to anyone and this is harrassment.
I work as a sales rep and need to answer my calls it reads "unknown number" but I have family members whose numbers read "unknown" so am reluctant not to pick it up. It costs me $1 to access my phone.

they just left a message so i looked up the number because who in the world calls and leaves a message without letting you know why they called or what they are calling about? why would anyone call a number of which they are not certain of who it is or what its about!? i think they have been calling my home private several times *by several i mean constantly! i knew something was fishy when an unknown kept calling my home over and over and over. we've never answered and just today they decided to leave that message. I called the number and the office is closed. Y are they calling and asking for u to call them back if their office is closed anyway!?? its completely stupid and i think there is some sort of scam happening. i dont like it at all. it makes no sense and i think should be reported to someone. its highly unusual and illogical!! just dont answer private callers and disregard their messages.
More than one a day from this collection agency. On 5/4 they called at 3:15pm,3:47pm, 9:01pm. The 9/:01 call is after there business hours.

Good Morning everyone is is now Sunday July 12,2008 At 12:03 pm I recieved yet another automated call from ACT. This after my long conversation with Dustin at ACT promising to remove my phone number from his list. I am not the person he is trying to reach and I advised him that he was calling the wrong number. Once again, I called their number to advise them they were calling the wrong person and their message said they were closed on Sunday's. If they are closed on Sundays then why would they do automated calling????If they reached their party the best they could do would be to leave a message and hope for a call back on Mondays. So why call???? Perhaps it's just poor business. I would never hire this business to do my collections. They are not professional and they do not know or follow the laws governing collection practices.

I've been recieving numerous calls during the day with no message and "Private number" on my caller ID. When they finally left a phone # and times to be reached, but did not identify who they were or why they were calling. When I finally had a number to return the call, they could not tell me why they were calling me until I gave them my phone number. Believing this could be a scam I was reluctant to give my phone # to them, but finally did. The end result was they were calling the wrong person. When I advised them I was not the person they were looking for they started questioning me as to if I knew the persons whereabouts, however, they would tell me why. I hope that the company who hires ACT collections realize what a bad name they are giving them. Professional is not in their vocabulary. I will go forward in reporting their calling to my residence to the Attorney General's office. If the people do not take a stand and work to stop this form of harrassment they we continue on.
i am getting the same thing. a few calls a day and the automated message that is left does not identify itself. i refuse to return the call unless they are willing to state who they are. this is rude and unprofessional. i don't even know *why* they're calling.
I am getting two or more calls everyday from this number. I am on donotcall but that does not appear to help. Interaction seems to be the same as other postings. I never answer unsolicited calls.
I have just signed a new plan with t-mobile and upon walking out of the store and activating the new phone and number, I was greeted with a private number calling multiple times. Since my phone has a new number that none of my friends even knew about, I didn't answer the first time, then answered the second time but no reply. Finally on the third time they called they left a voicemail asking that I return their call at that number. I immediately searched Google and found this. I'm thinking I will call them and give them quite an earful. Otherwise threaten to report them.

They do not keep records that you had gotten more than one call in a day which is illegal. I made a payment to the creditor yesterday and they are still calling today to collect (also illegal). Advice to you, write down every single time they call you and after a couple days, put that in a letter stating they may no longer call you in regards to any collections and that you are aware of the laws in your state. Any more than one call per day WITHIN business hours is illegal and collection efforts after payments have been started is also illegal. Educate yourselves people. You do NOT have to take their abuse.
