Got two calls from this number today as well.  My wife answered earlier, and they asked for me.  She says she thinks they said something about insurance or towing or something.  No mention of Canadian Tire.  She told them to call back tonight.  They did, and when I answered, nobody there.  I rarely shop at Canadian Tire and have never had a CT credit card.

April 29, 2014 - just received a call from this number. No one on the line. If it is Canadian Tire then they have an issue me because none of our family have their credit cards. I do think it is a scam to get information and card numbers so do not trust anyone on the phone. Ask them to mail you the request but do not give out addresses. If it is legitimate they will have it.

You refuse to answer the phone, you shouldn't complain about the waste of time.  Answer the phone and resolve the reason = no more phone calls = no more waste of time.  Problem solved.

Only activated my Canadian Tire CC a week ago and received 2 calls today, the first I missed as I was driving, the second I answered and no-one was there.  I stayed on the line for a couple of minutes repeatedly saying hello, with no response, before hanging up.  I am not due a payment yet, went online to check, so to those saying pay your bills and it will stop...no it's not always the case!

I didn't recognize the number...so didn't answer...no message left...but if this is Canadian Tire Finance...I don't know why they would be calling for a payment when I just received my card and haven't even received my first statement yet...if they don't want to leave a message...they can pound salt.

Hi, they called me today and it was due to the fact that it is a new security procedure that they have now in order to make sure that new clients are not frauded when they starting making their first purchases. They didn't start bothering me yet, but if they do, I'll make them stop for sure hehe.

Yesterday, 14 Feb around noon, I received a call from Canadian Tire and they wanted to talk to my wife who was not near me. I asked what they wanted, they said it is personal. They asked me to tell her to speak to this 1800 number and they were available to take the call until 8 p.m.. My wife tried to call around 1.pm and the line was busy. She has recently got a Canadian Tire card.

Here's one that nobody has posted.  My credit card was hacked they made purchases to
Air China, a clothing store in England and a few others that I don't remember. I called the card company
and tried to explain, OK that's the good part, so the credit card company cancelled my card and reissued
a new card and number, and that's when these calls started happening. I answered a few time and they
were very nasty after I explained the situation, I called back the card company and they denied putting me in for collection. As of this date I owe nobody any monies, I also sent an explanation on to the 3 credit
companies,  But the calls keep coming to my cell, and I am not even sure how they got my cell number.

Called me over 7 hours ago and I didn't even bother to answer...it's either a scam to get your SS# or some other personal information. If the call is legit then they would either leave a message or at least talk to you. I've seen an increase of these types of calls around the holidays......even the elderly gets these types of calls claiming that they owe "XYZ Company" money and then demanding a payment over the phone...I'm trying to keep my elderly dad from falling for these types of schemes on a daily basis.....

To all those who are having a tough time paying their bills on time: Don't fret! If you are an honest good hearted person and you are struggling to pay credit card debt - PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE FIRST.
NEWSFLASH! In case you didn't know, credit is made up out of thin air! Banks never lend out actual money they have in the bank; they just create it. So when someone defaults on their loan, credit card etc. they don't even flinch. It definitely does not hurt them! It's not the same as borrowing from a buddy, who actually has some value backing the money he lent you i.e.- he traded his time for the cash! In the banking system of today, for it to keep on running it NEEDS a certain amount of people to go bankrupt. Research the history of banking in North America, and then see how much you care about giving up your power to these giant faceless corporations. Their attitude is: If they don't get your money, someone else will! So don't be a wuss! Educate yourself, and stand your ground!
(If you are a lowdown d-bag, who max's out your c-card and has no care about making this world a better place...well, karma's a bi***!)

Actually, us happy bill collectors are allowed to call as many times as we'd like per day, so long as the person we are calling doesn't answer the phone. Since this is collections, we are allowed to make 3 CONTACTS per day before it is considered harrassment. You should really learn the law before you go preaching it. Good luck paying your bills everyone!  :-)

you pay interest on money owed until the balance is paid in full.  FYI.  It doesn't matter if an account is open or closed.

Once I pay whats left over on the red Card, It will be sent to the shredder. I don't buy anything from them  anymore as of now. Most thing I do with these 1800 numbers is pick up the receiver and slam the phone back down real har on their ears. but maybe I should buy a boat horn.

1.  It's not illegal to dial a wrong number.
2.  Less than 1% of people return phone calls when a collector leaves a message on an answering machine - half the time, you don't answer the phone due to call display, so why the hell should a message be left?
3.  Everyone's situation IS unique, and maybe if you grew a set and spoke to the person on the other end, you might find reasonable alternatives instead of avoiding it like a coward.

Bottom Line:  Lots of people owe money and lots of people pay their bills.  Lots can`t afford it either but have the courage to face it instead of blaming everyone else for their problems.  There are people out there who are sick, with no benefits or have lost spouses or had HUGE problems in their lives...  It`s how you deal with it that makes you moral and just.  I know DAMN straight that I help people every day.  I get told that every single day I work and it`s rewarding when I finally get someone on the phone and I can help them.  And the ones that are self-righteous and all pious, woe is me - you just don`t get it.  You don`t hurt me at all when you don`t answer - I`m glad I don`t have to listen to your horse pucky and can move on to someone who actually cares about their financial obligations and recognizes that I`m not there to beat them down, I`m there to come up with alternatives.   Avoid it - hell avoid me altogether - save me some money on Advil, and let your debt move to third party collections, where the fun really starts for you and sticks with ya for the next 7 years.  Try it and see...
