Screw that.  Can you honestly say that you would practice what you preach?  Seriously, if you had a debt collector calling you day and night, refusing to send proof of debt, even going to far as to somehow reaching into your bank account and stealing money from you... would you be willing offer the same sentiment as you are now?

Government Actions

The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

On May 18, 2012, the Government of Alberta (Service Alberta) issued an Undertaking to Global Credit & Collection Inc under Section 152 of the Fair Trading Act.

According to the Undertaking, Global Credit & Collection Inc acknowledges that it has breached sections of the Collection and Debt Repayment Practices Regulation. Some examples are as follows:

- Failing to advise the Director of Fair Trading within 15 days of the cessation of employment collectors.
- Engaging in collection action when there was no debt due and owing.
- Initiating phone calls that exceed the frequency permitted in the regulations.
- Not ceasing collection activity after being informed that the person contacted was not the debtor and failing to take reasonable precautions to ensure that the person was in fact the debtor.
- Contacting employers for purposes other than to confirm employment status, business title and the address of the business in preparation for legal proceedings.
- Communicating information about the debt or the existence of the debt to persons other than the debtor, a guarantor of the debt, the debtor's representative or the creditor of the debt without the express consent of the debtor.
- Engaging in collection activities on debts where the last payment or written acknowledgement of the date was more than six years previous.

Global Credit & Collection Inc admits that it has failed to comply with the provisions of the Fair Trading Act and undertakes to the Director that it will not, to the best of its ability, at any time hereafter, engage in acts or practices similar to those described.

Global Credit & Collections Inc is responsible to pay the amount of $20,000.00 to the Minister of Finance of Alberta. This amount represents a portion of the costs associated with the investigation.

I had a call this morning.

A Mrs. 'Con' (I have to laugh now about the name used) asked for my full name and date of birth before discussing what the call was in regards too.  Warning #1

After demanding what the call was for, I was told it was on behalf of the Royal Bank. I haven't banked with Royal in many years and had closed the account fully. Warning #2

When I asked for their number, I was told they wouldn't share that information unless I shared mine. Really?...... if you?re working on behalf of the Bank, this shouldn't be confidential info. Warning #3

When I told them I believed this was a scam, she gave me this number and her extension (8681).

She then began to guess at my year of birth, at which point I laughed, told her that she was terrible at fishing for info, that I wouldn?t even verify that, and I was left with a threatening closing to the conversation that she?d be calling my other family members to resolve this if I don?t.

I?ve contacted the Royal Bank and they said they don?t use the service of this company for collections.

I?ve address this with the BBB.

Do not divulge personal information over the phone. If the ?bank? has tracked your phone number down, they can send you mail and arrange a meeting at a local branch office.

I got a phone message from these a-holes yesterday.  She said if I didn't call back within 48 hours things would escalate seriously.  I didn't know what the hell she was talking about since I don't owe anyone anything.  So I called the number and spoke to the person.  Paulina or Pauline.  She was very rude and bitchy.  She said she was actually looking for someone else with the same last name as me.  I said I didn't know the person.  She refused to take that for an answer.  She demanded to know if I was related to the person in any way since they had listed me as the 'next of kin', and I said 'Lady, I already told you I don't know anyone by that name.'  Then after asking the same question three different ways, she finally said 'Fine.  We'll take your name off the list.' And she hung up on me before I had a chance to say anything else.

Received an incoming call from "905", seemed strange so I didn't pick it up. Was left a voicemail that says " This is Sean, supervisor at Global regarding a personal business matter that was just placed in the office. I am looking to submit my final recommendations tomorrow evening. If you could give me a shout back as soon as you get this message, the file number ******, toll free number 1 800 563 4929." I called them and they told me I owe a previous phone company $900 and they would take a settlement of $490. If I don't pay they will be suing me and taking me to court. Apparently the lawyers paper to sue me is in the mail and I will be getting it soon but if I make the settlement payment of $490 they won't sue me. What a bunch of b***s***.

Anything they can say over the phone they can say in a letter.  I refuse to answer these calls that are harassing at work.  They even call my neighbors?!  I know they are trying to embarass me and my family.... not like we are already embarassed that we got in over our heads... but hey the credit card company didn't check that they gave us 3 cards from the same company!  they are designed to bring people into so much debt yet they don't understand how come we can't pay?!   go figure!  we have been trying to pay for years and years and cant get out from under the debt load.  We could claim bankrupcy... what does it matter our credit rating is already terrible.....  We have applied to a debt reduction place for some of our debt.  Their advise is not to answer the calls nor am I to return the calls.  We wrote a letter to each of our creditors as we were advised and gave an alternative # for them to call yet they keep calling my #.

I unwittingly answered an unknown # one day and when I realized who it was I hung up. They continued to call for over 30 minutes even though I didn't answer the call.  I tried to make a call out and couldn't even do that.... I'm already off work because of anxiety and that just made it worse.

kindle stop calling  my house for a Dave Graham because he does not life here has never lived here and the call are starting to bother me.

Just received a call from ROMANA at 1-800-563-4929 x ext 6959. She messed up when saying the name of the company. Started with calling it Global then corrected herself and called it GCC. Stressed that it wasn't a solicitation calling but needed to call her back right away. BAH! I have a brand new phone number...someone is selling numbers to people.

Slanderous comments about Julia? What about the slanderous material that Julia is allowing to be posted on her forums about other individuals without ANY real evidence to support these stories? He has every right to go and post comments about Julia, i bet if she saw this(which she will) she cant have anything done. Its freedom of speech right? This is a never ending circle of lies and deceit that consequently may destroy credibility of people's jobs and lives. Julia is a terrible person if she allows such things to be posted without any facts. I thought a moral sensibility could be the key to her human salvation but it turns out shes a coward and a scumbag that has nothing better to do with her time, and her limited knowledge than to create a forum to distract herself from her miserable life. Josh Balner called me some months ago and I must say, I never experienced any treatment as stated above? He was courteous and professional. I wonder why there is such a discrepancy between my treatment and yours? Perhaps it was the way you spoke about his mother?
My suggestion when a bill collector calls is to be honest and forthcoming- Josh helped me through a very difficult time, and i'm sure he would have done the same for you!

I have also gotten calls from this number (3 in 4 days)  and from 1800 5634949  from Josh somebody  with a very threatening unpleasant call.. almost same script as above.   Called back to try to reach someone to tell them to quit calling, they have no reason for calling, etc.. stayed on line for about six minutes listening to robo voice about how important my call was.. finally hung up.

recieved 2 messages (both the same prerecorded message) form a josh balmer.  the number was 1-800-563-4929.  i looked it up and it was for global credit/collection.  the message was threatening and nondescript.  i called the number back but was on hold for awhile, and i hung up.  i've been reading how this is all a scam.  we don't owe any money, sooooo, if i'm really missing something here, which i'm not, then josh can just call me back or i'll tell my "representative" to contact him directly so my "situation" does not "escilate." lol

I have received the same calls and I have returned the calls each time asking to speak to Josh Balmer.  I am transfered to a Nichole Mitchel and I provide no infornation to her.  I also use the same tone as the message Josh Balmer leaves and she hangs up on me.  When I call back they refuse to transfer my call unless I identify myself.  I do not identify myself and they hang up.  Thry also reefuse to provide any info.  Do not fall for this scam.  Do not provide any information.

I have been getting threatening calls from these jerks.  Josh Balder or something like that- need to resolve an issue and after many attempts I have left him no choice to purse the matter and my representative has to contact him by a certain time.  What a bunch of bull.  Before the call from today at the 800 number it was 866-915-5209. Same message.  Today he finally left a name and said he was with Global.  I have no idea what issue he talks about but talk about having issues this jerk has many.  Total scam.

They called my next door neighbor in my condo saying it was urgent they reached me.  He doesn't know me well, spent time tracking me down. How did they get his number?  Then when I called they did not answer the phone, despite being within their alleged 8:30-5 working hours.

Calling repeatedly so I told them to stop harrassing us at our home.  Global wouldn't tell us what kind of company they are nor what they wanted.
