Wow! I kept getting calls from them for a few weeks now. I answered a couple of times and there was this recording saying "Please hold while we connect your call...". I didn't. Just now at 9pm they were calling again, and I answered. It actually was a person this time! She asked how I pronounce my last name and was off to ask more questions, but I interrupted her and asked who is calling. She started talking something to me with such a horrible accent, I could hardly understand a word! Then she asked for my date of birth!!! I said - what for? Then again she said something I couldn't understand at all. I told her so and asked her to send me an e-mail instead. She then hung up on me! :) Wonderful! I am so glad I didn't give any info... I am going to Art Institute of Atlanta and I am going to call them about his. It's rather ridiculous...

I am a recent college grad, so it's looking to me like there's a trend.  There are never any messages left --just keep calling almost daily, sometimes two or three times a day.  I also recieved the recorded voice saying to "pls hold while we connect your call," I waited once to see what would happen but it didn't go through.  I've not answered since then.  Now I feel safe in believing that it's all a load of crap! However, answering the call in hopes of actually talking to a person might be the quickest way to get them to stop calling.  I certainly won't be providing any answers to their questions. Thanks, to those above, for sharing your experiences.

Yeah, it seems like a creditor.  Clara, or someone like that.  Funny thing is, I don't have any outstanding loans or payments.  WTF?

I received a call from 800-565-4453 but didn't answer in time so I called the number back.  The person who answered they told me they were looking for my son.  I told them they had the wrong number and what was this about.  They said they couldn't discuss this with me because I wasn't on the account.

My son went to AIP and has been repaying his loans since Oct 08, so WTH are they calling either of us for??

Called and left a message with my mother (whom I don't live with anymore), said her name was Clara Smith with the General Revenue Corporation  800-565-4453 re Commonwealth Business College (where I went to school).  Sounded like a creditor, said it was a personal business matter.

Hi, I live in northeastern Ohio. I've never had any student loans, and I have very little debt. But I just received a call from this 800-565-4453 number about an hour ago. I've also had the same cell phone number for about 4 years and this is the first call I've got. I called the number back and it's a company called KRS. I didn't speak with anyone as there was a hold.

I get the call 2 to 3 times a day. I don't owe any money yet because I took one semester off to do some work in the field I'm studying. I've got the 6 month grace but it doesn't matter because I start up again in July.

Here's the deal guys I know you're just doing your job but, if we wanted your help we'd come looking for you. You guys sent me a letter in the mail. Great. Now I know who you are and when I graduate, and possibly need your help, I have an option. But I don't want you calling me 2-3 times a day to sell me a service I don't even need and may never need. And to top it, if I do need some help repaying my loans, I'll go somewhere else because you've ANNOYED THE HELL OUT OF ME!!!!

My classes ended in March and one week after the calls from this number began. I called the Art Institute and informed them of the problem. I also called the company who holds my student loans (I am in non-repayment status for 6 months) and they informed me my account is in perfect status and the company has NO business calling me. I was instructed to print out my account status and fax it to them if they persist (minus my account number and personal info of course!).

I graduated from an art institute in December. I keep getting calls from this number too. Even back when I was still attending AI I was getting these calls. The other day they called at least 3-4 times and two of the calls were a minute apart. I never answer. They just called about almost an hour ago which was 7:45pm. They also half the time never leave messages and if they do it's the recording that says "please hold while you're call is being connected" or something along these lines. The last call I just recieved ended in message with a males voice saying "hello?" that was it.

I am so sick of this crap! I recieve the most calls from that number than I do from any other number. Thats a little sad.

LoL. Ligit caller's don't leave messages? Then what do they do? You people are way to paranoid. John Doe is right, were just trying to help you out. Yeah were trying to steal your identity by asking you to confirm your birthday.....what can we do with that, send you a birthday card? Please...get real.

But if all you borrowers don't want to know the info we have to GIVE you(not asking for ANYTHING in return) that you may not already know, like grace period dates and payment info then fine, go into default and talk to the collection agencies. That isn't my problem. Then you'll be begging to talk to the nice ones here again. LOL.

It really is funny when you think about it....

Just got a call last night the person asked for my daughter who attended the art inst. in charlotte. The person said he was from GRC, they are making a courtesy call on behalf of the art institute. So I said why do you need to speak with her. He said I can't give you any personal information. So I said then you don't need to call my house anymore. Of course, he was no longer courteous. He became very irate with me because I told him don't call my house anymore. I don't know who are these people. Don't give out any information to them. I just reported them to the art institute in charlotte to let them know. I said as well I hope they are not selling our numbers. The person said they would pass the number along to the appropriate people to take care of this. So if anyone else receive a call, call the school and let them know.

What?  If you work for them, I would most definitely not want your business.

I got a phone call from these guys too saying they were a collection agency.  My wife has a loan from Sallie Mae, so it would make sense if all the above messages are true.

I wasn't home at the time, someone picked it up and had said that it was for GPC from the Art Institute. I dropped out months ago and this is the first time I got this call. Got tired of the school, got tired of the office building environment and how it's just a money farm. I'm just so THRILLED to know they sell student info to idiots like this. Great.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Art Institute is selling all of our information to this joke. Both me and my wife went to the one in Las Vegas and I wouldn't put it past them to make as much money off of us even after we've left as they tried to while we were there (including the $4,000 they ripped us off for).

**** the Art Institute. :D

When I answered; the automated system repeated, "Please hold while we connect your call...", but no one ever came-on and I didn't wait for my cell minutes to pass while they got their business together.

I'm glad for this website. I'm always suspicious about anyone who calls me anyway, but thanks for having this for us all to share knowledge about companies that take advantage of our information.

If you attended an Art Institute - chances are likely they in-fact did sell your information to make money off you because your tuition wasn't enough for their greedy Education Management Corporation a***s. We people need to free ourselves from the currency system - so that companies like these have no business to call us for. Self-sufficiency; here I come!
