very annoying

The "Do not call" list is for "SALES CALLS" only. They do not stop "charities", political calls, etc. I've had some that start out "This is not a sales call".......giving a free alarm system! They neglect to mention that they charge to install it (they're wireless, any dummy can install it themselves) and the $30+ monthly monitoring fee. For every law, someone will find a way around it. That is why we have caller ID. I don't answer any call I don't recognize. If it's a legitimate call, they will leave a message.

Have received several calls from this number never leaving a message so I don't know who is calling. I believe if it is not important enough to leave a message than it is not important enough to pay attention to who is calling. I just bought a Digitone Call Blocker machinne that blocked this number from ringing through today so I am looking forward more quiet and peaceful days of no 800 service calls.

Check with your in-home phone service (don't know about cellphones) and see if they have a "Number Block" feature to offer. I don't think it costs extra, but you need to have your customer number (4 digits) off your phone bill. If you call your phone company, they will direct you to the site online for blocking up to 30 numbers through your computer. I've put some in already and so far, so good.

If they are saying it's for charity, it is a loophole in the Do Not Call law. Fundraising, charity and surveys are specifically excluded along with companies you have done business with or made an inquiry. I think that includes giving your phone number on an entry for a drawing at the mall or things like those online questionnaires that are supposed to tell you how many answers you got right but you have to give a cell number to find out.

called fund raiser for special olympics selling magazines. I dont trust these calls. on do not call list does not work!!! WHY?????
CherPoet 2012-08-28 01:40:00 Unknown
DNC list does not work, for sure. receive calls like this all the time. I don't believe that information entered onto forms on the internet is not sold to dubious companies and individuals for use in scamming us.

Maybe I wouldn't be so suspicious about their legitimacy if their organizations name appeared on the caller ID, and they actually answered their phone when I try to call back, rather than referring me to yet another toll free number.
They may claim to represent the Special Olympics. Truth be known, they are nothing but another bunch of scam artists, looking for their next mark.
P Griffith 2012-07-03 00:05:20 Unknown
Heard a voice when I answered. Said hello and then it disconnected with a loud beeping/busy sound. I called the number back and it says 'Special Olympics just tried calling and will call back'. Why is there a DNC if these idiots can keep calling

Unfortunately, surveys and charities are exempt from the Do Not Call list. From the FTC's website:
4. What types of calls are not covered by the National Do Not Call Registry?
The do not call provisions do not cover calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors, or companies with which a consumer has an existing business relationship.

Has the FTC done or said anything about these b****eads? I get the call all the time also.

Stop calling me they don't ever leave any message!
War Pig 2011-06-06 20:58:06 Unknown
They are Special Olympics now, but I have gotten calls form this same number on a variety of "survey" topics. They are apparently a commercial survey and fundraising company. Special Olympics, political issues, you name it. I have told them repeatedly to remove my name from their lists as I do NOT respond to unsolicited calls of ANY sort. They keep calling, so I snitched them out to the FCC.
Bart 2011-06-06 20:58:06 Unknown
I called the number and a recorded message identified themselves as Special Olympics and that they had recently called and will call back again.
bill 2011-06-06 20:58:06 Unknown

Call from a group selling magazine subs to raise money for special olympics, or so they said. Sure wish that do not call list worked.
