Yeah I answered the call, and no one was there.. So I stayed on the line for like 3mins saying "hello?". She eventually came on the line and said they were calling about collecting donations for a hospital for children born with downs syndrome. I told her that I wanted my number off their calling records as I donate to charities directly, and she hung up on me without a word! if they call back I'll be asking for a supervisor.

This call was unlike the usual calls I get for charity.  She asked if I would donate to their charity for children with down syndrome and had a very long speech about why I should. Then when I agreed I was transferred to a man. He asked me to pay with visa or mastercard. I said I would like to pay with a cheque through the mail. He said they would rather I pay with visa because they did not want to pay the fees for mail order (in an unprofessional tone), and I said I wouldn't do that and isn’t there any other way to make a payment? So he said they would send a mail order, and quoted my address to me, and said to reply to it within 15 days and hung up. He seemed angry at me that I wasn’t giving him my visa number. That is odd to me, and you should always have payment options. Something felt wrong about this call and I take a lot of calls from charitys.

Must be a scammer...i got a call and it sounded like some doped up hippy kid with about three brain cells left.  The guy asks for my girl friend, pronounces her name wrong, and then when I ask him who he was, he asks me if I was eighteen.  I told him this conversation was over and hung up.

Telemarketer
Telemarketing company, calling on behalf of some client (usually, a charity). Of course, the charity only gets 40% to 60% of your money,
while the telemarketers take their "pound-of-flesh".

If you're going to donate, ask the telemarketers to send you information
via Canada Post, and check that the charity is legitimate (not a "sound-alike" name).
