This is a phishing scam.  If your bill is overdue, Verizon will text you!

It's Verizon. They are calling about my account being past due.  OOPS.

This was Verizon collections dept. Paid my bill earlier today but keep getting calls.

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! Just got off the phone with Verizon by dialing *611. They don't use this number; it ISN'T a Verizon-affiliated number. My account is current and the Verizon Customer Service Representative agreed with me that Verizon would've attempted contacting me through my wireless number before calling my home phone.

I got call several times from this number 916-226-5773. Today, I decided to play with it to see what they are up to. They routed to automatic payment from checking account and credit card account left no option to speak to customer service representative.  I pressed # several times and finally it provided option 0 to speak to customer service representative. I pressed 0 and it just hang up; not routed to a human talking at all. You can try to play with it but DO NOT provide your checking/credit card numbers.

This is a real SCAM.

Got a call, did not pick up, they left message for someone I do not know saying they should call Verizon about their account.  I do not have any Verizon account.  I have had my phone number for many years and it is on the Do Not Call List and it is NOT a verizon number. I never heard of the person named in the voice message.

There are attorneys now suing collections companies (& perhaps some scammers?) for violation of the national do not call law.   Perhaps one of them would take on suing these scammers if they can be found.   See the link below for an article in the Denver Post by David Migoya which references local attorney David Larson (CollectorAbuse.com) as having filed 268 cases against debt collectors & others in 2010.   The article points out that attorney Charity Olson of Ann Arbor, Michigan is another of the attorneys specializing in suing these people.

I just received a call from this number, I ignored it and let it go to voice mail as I didn't recognize the number, no message was left.  when i called back it said it was Verizon saying my service would be interrupted.  I called *611 from my phone and was told my account was in good standing and bill was not due til mid-March. SCAM!!!!  Do not give your CC information.

Just received a call from Elk Grove, CA with the same number. DId not leave a message.  I give thanks every day for this service as it keeps me informed on the swarms of calls that come in.

if Verizon is calling you regarding a bill...they ALWAYS leave a message.  I got a call from this number and I happen to know my bill is in good standing.  SCAM.

This is a phishing scam to get your credit card or billing information. I called Verizon and they said my account was in good standing and they don't call from a 916 number. They suggested I report it to the FCC - I did.

I called Verizon wireless and they could not verify this as being one of their phone numbers. It is a scam! Very scary....

It's not Verizon. It's a phishing scam pretending to be Verizon Wireless. Do not give them your card number for any reason.
