I have been getting this call too. It prompted me to enter my account number or if I didn't have it, I could enter my SS#. I hope they were recording me because I called them a bunch of phishing %^&%*ers. Something needs to be done about this.

Hi all.  I received a call on my cell and I didn't recognize the name they gave, World Financial Network National Bank, phone # 1-800-579-5457.  So I did a little research and found that they are a bank that issues retail store credit cards.
They issue cards for The Avenue, Victoria Secret, Crate & Barrel, J Crew, Spiegel, Abercrombie & Fitch, Dress Barn, Ann Taylor, Gander Mountain, Maurices, Buckle, Sportsman’s Guide Visa, New York & Company, Express, or any card issued through Alliance Data.
They are calling to tell you your payment is past due.
I find it stupid that they call under the main financial company name instead of identifying the store card. No wonder so many people think its a scam.

I got a call from an unknown caller at 3:16 pm pacific time 8/24/08, the call gave me the number 18005795457 to call as there was an important matter regarding an account, does not identify themselves and tells me to call the number.  I called the number and get a recording the says the call may be recorded and to press 1 for english. Then it verifies that my account matches the phone number and wants my last four digits of my SS#. It appears suspious to me. So I hang up.

Received call twice from "World Bank" once answered and once on voicemail. They did not ask for anyone (account holder) by name and only stated that it was not a sales call and we should return the call at 1-800-579-5474. After the first call I was suspicious because they did not ask for anyone by name and they did not stay on the line. When we called back after the second call (voicemail) the automated system asked for an account number which we do not have, then it proceeded to asking for the SS# which I would not give out. Don't give out your SS# without a very good reason.

Recieved a call from a recorded message with an accent saying Please call World Finanical Network Bank regarding important information, this is not a sales call...or something to that effect.  I have never heard of them and decided to do a search before calling back.  It took me several plays on my answering machine before I could make out what the recording actually said.  So annoying!!!

My complaint is the same as all the others.  Automated call sounds like its a creditor, says its not a sales call, says its important. What suprised me was the english(as in Britian)accent.  When you call the number 800-579-5457 you get more automation and you are to enter your account number - which of course I do not have.  Then they give the option of entering your social security number, which I did not do.  Went to the web to research the phone number and found this website.

These folks are phishing for SSN's.  Don't fall for it!

Received call from 800-888-9265 telling me that I had a very important financial message. I called that number and got a recording, asking me to enter my account number. How stupid do they think I am? Enter my account number so they can steal stuff. I don't think so.

Many of these calls originate from Ohio, some from same county. That is the problem. Ohio allows this crap. Somebody who lives in Ohio needs to file a complaint. PLEASE. Call your friends in Ohio and ask them to file complaint.

World Financial Network National Bank is legit. They underwrite hundreds of department store credit cards. It's a standard courtesy call. You prolly have a payment close to being overdue.

Here's how to play it safe. Call WFNNB at 614-729-4000 and nav thru to talk to someone. Ax them to look up your account, first/last name and your state. The rest they should be able to provide to you.

Better to get to the bottom of it than have a late payment on your credit report!

The message satarts out on the ans. machine National bank as if the beginning was somehow excluded. Female, english accent says it is not a sales call but a personnal business call. The usual, english or spanish press one or something else and put in your checking account number. If you do not readily have the number you may enter your SS 9 digit number. I hung up without uttering a word.

Received a message on my cell-phone to call back regarding a financial matter, that was not a sales call. When I returned the call, something made me uncomfortable. When asked for my mailing address I asked for the information regarding my "financial" matter and they hung up.

We have  received several "unknown" calls recorded on caller I D.  When I finally answered one it was a recording from a ? bank telling me to call an 800 number.  I wasn't able to write the number down.  Waited a few days and received the same call.  This time I got the number and called back.  I connected to an automated system asking me to enter my account number. If you are calling without your account number, enter SS#.  Of course I hung up.

Same as above.  Automated call with Brittish accent stating it was World Financial regarding "your account", not a sales call.  My caller ID picked it up as unknown caller.  We have no such account. We are receiving several calls a week from them.  Now,I just let it ring and of course, they never leave a message.  This is annoying.

I received one of these calls today.  I listened to the computer generated voice telling me to call back at the given number.  I didn't and decided to google the "company" name instead.   I wonder if it's what another poster said about gathering social security numbers.  Hmmmm.

Just as the aforementioned posters, today I received the same automated call.  I have no credit cards or any other type of loan from World Financial Network National Bank and since I had no account number, instead of asking for the last 4 digits of my SS# as most of my credit card companies do when I call them, this automated call asks you to enter all of your SS#.  I did not enter any #s.

I got a call from this number saying it was World Financial Bank and that it was not a sales call.  I called back.  I was asked for my credit card number.  Not knowing what credit card they were referring to, I went to a menu where I was asked for my social security #.  Unfortunately, I entered the numbers thinking it was regarding a bill.  I finally did speak with someone, who had my husband's name, said they were a collection agency, but refused to tell us what card they were calling about.  We aren't delinquent on any bills, so we finally hung up, but they did get valuable information.
