I received 2 postcards sayig Redlands High School with the P.O. Box 3140 Chesapeake VA address asking for info to update their directory. I never went to that school, was going to call the number and tell them (800) 216-1060, changed my mond & decided to do research. I believe this is a scam of some sort. I saw posted somewhere that an older lady sent them money for a copy of her school directory and never got anything in return.  If it had had my correct school listed, I may have gone ahead and called, but I'm glad I didn't.

Be careful everyone!

Haven't received any calls from them, but I received a postcard in the mail asking to call this number. It was supposedly from Phi Theta Kappa, which I am a member of, asking for my information because they are compiling a registry of members. I was suspicious and didn't call. The suspicion arose from a similar postcard my fiance received a few months ago regarding a registry for an "Eagle Scout Roll of Honor". Luckily we kept the card because he meant to call the number on it, but never got around to it. I picked it up and compared our two postcards and they both go to the same P.O. Box. Curious. I'm still looking into it. Anyone else have this issue?

The number on his card was different than this one: 1-800-917-2001. No entries on that number on here yet. The return address on BOTH cards is:
Directory Office

I also just received a post card asking me to call a different number 1.800.546.4809 but when i did a search of the number online i found nothing.  I then did a search of the address and p.o box and got Ahepa which is a Greek heritage club.  Some address as yours above.
Directory Office
P.O. Box 3140
Chesapeake, VA 23327-3140
Being i was big into Boy Scouts in the past i too was suspious since i had never heard of "Eagle Scout Stories" coming by way of this post card nor this address.  I think this may be a clever way to fish for info.

Well, I received a post card with the same return address from 'Wichita Heights High School' ... something to do with needing information for the graduate directory....the name on the card isn't mine and this is the second mailing from them in a few weeks.....I'm a Maine native and attended schools only in Maine.....I can't find anything on the web and will just ignore this for now.....or maybe mail it back to tell whomever to stop mailing to this address...it'll be worth the $.44 cents!!!

PO Box 3140  ,Chesapeake VA.    Phone 877-293-6904   I got the same postcard twice in the mail.  Like the previous poster the recipient's  name on front was completely wrong. I will say this. Someone took a bit of effort in implying the postcard was endorsed by the principal of my old high school. Of course the official  school seal was bogus.   I wouldn't reply .

I also received a postcard from "Enid High School Alumni Assn." asking for biographical information with the phone number 1-866-834-3119.  The only Enid High School that I can find is in Oklahoma while the return address on this postcard is the same as one all the others - P.O. Bx 3140 Chesapeake,VA.
I have not replied and got three subsequent post cards one of the last two said URGENT NOTICE the other said FINAL NOTICE.

In this day of daily scam e-mails and things like that, nothing on the postcard leads you to think it is legitimate. And the lack of web URL or clear company name doesn't help.

From searching the web for about a half hour I found that they are "legitimate" since some schools and associations use them to build an up-do-date alumni database. There is no cost to the school, so that is a good thing for the school, but they make their money selling the directories.

Some think the directories are high priced, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. It costs money to have humans answer the phones and take time to gather your information. I declined to purchase a directory (hardcover $80, softcover $60) and they didn't pressure me at all. For my school they said the directory covers many years of graduates, so if you want people who buy it to have some valid information about you, then give them a call. For me, they had most of my info anyway, and I didn't give them anything beyond that.

Update:

I looked into it and it is legit. NESA and Phi Theta Kappa are both working with a research company known as Harris Connect Inc. They are an upstanding company that works with over 300 businesses, helping connect people like alumni and associations like these. I found nothing to indicate that this was any kind of scam. The National Eagle Scout Association even has information about the Roll Call on their website. So I was worried for nothing. :)
