Called me at 8 PM CDT. Left a message to call back (800-604-0064, no extension). Tried calling back 5 minutes later, and got the message that their normal business hours are until 5 PM today.  If you're already closed, why are you calling me now?  Message did indicate it was a collection agency.  I don't have anything in collections, so I was not about to leave them a 'detailed message'.  

I don't even have an association with Verizon, I have AT&T so I'm pretty sure it's a scam.

So I got a call from this exact number saying they needed to speak with me about some debt. They didn't say my name or anything, but the number they called was on my text me app so it wasn't even a real phone number and I never have given out that number to anyone except like 3 people who are my best friends. It's probably a scam. I would call like a lawyer or maybe even talk to a reporter about it, maybe they'll figure it out and get a good story out of it. Anyways, I've never bought anything with credit yet being that I am young and have not gotten around to building my credit score so I know I owe nothing. So I wouldn't trust it! Next time they call, I'd report them to the police or something.

these scumbags buy up old old debt for a few pennies on the dollar and hope to god someone will pay them. if they don't have a judgement against you tell them to kiss your a**.and if they have a judgement good luck collecting on it. does anyone answer there phone these days when it's not someone they know? there job must suck the big one

I have received nearly 2 dozen "verified" calls from Diversified Consultants just in the last 2-3 weeks alone. Turns out they were looking for my father, who I haven't lived with in nearly ten years. When I finally had the opportunity to speak with them, they were agreeable to removing my number from their list. I say "verified" because I have only verified that one of the numbers calling me is indeed Diversified Consultants. That number is 401-536-9836, out of Providence Rhode Island. What I find MOST interesting about this phone number, is a google search pulls up the number as a Plumbing/Heating company.... seems sketchy! I have also received another 2 dozen or so calls in that time period from another 2 numbers with the same area code... I haven't had a chance to pick up for either of those yet, but I am assuming they are also DCI.

USPS prohibits delivery of anything to your mailbox which did not bear postage. The FDCPA does not prohibit personal visits to your door, but violations could occur within the content of the notice or if the notice was not discreetly folded or sealed, thus revealing your alleged debt problem to others. It would not surprise me to learn that this agency fears postal inspectors more than consumer complaints.

Personally when I've had to post notices on homes, for an entirely different purpose, I would try to avoid adhesives. As a last resort I carried gaffer's tape, a staple of media production crew toolkits, which unlike duct tape has a very low chance of leaving residue or pulling paint when removed.

Verizon, huh?  They left NO message, called back immediately after hanging up on my answering machine, and the number is not a good callback number (well gee, if they left a dang MESSAGE maybe I could call them back).  I don't deal with third-party creditors to begin with, so if I can talk to them I will be sending a Cease and Desist Letter.  Second, both of our Verizon accounts are in good standing with no balance currently; so if they try to tell me otherwise, they WILL be schooled.

What you are saying is not true, collection agencies have no right to call your cel phone without your permission, not before 8 am and to after 9 pm, they have no right to call constantly, that is considered harassment , the " do ot call " list is for telemarketers, but there are laws protecting us from being harassed by rude collection agencies, and you think most collection agencies will apologize if you tell them they have the wrong number, are you crazy? That is laughable.

These people taped a notice on my front door! This was a scare tactic for money! The worse part is they didn't put it in my mail box...the dummy used duck tape and stuck it on my door!!!

My son paid the verizon bill, in full and they want more money.  They call and call and when you pickup it disconnects. They call several times a day and when you explain the account was paid, they say they have no record and the calls keep coming.  You can't go through verizon because they sold the account and this is no way against my son, but his brother cancelled the phone, and figured he would pay the termination fee, but he didn't so rather than letting us know he did this verizon let the account rack up to 800.00 and then turned it over to DCI. Now it is paid in full, and although one son was negligent in this bill that his other brother cosigned for him, the bill is PAID and hopefully the one son learned a lesson because the older brother never lets him forget.

No collections agency has the right to harrass people who are behind
in paying their bills.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act [15 U.S.C. § 1692] provides
clear statutorial protections from phone harassment and other abusive
debt collection practices.  

Moreover, DEBT COLLECTORS DO NOT EVEN HAVE THE RIGHT TO CALL people
who have requested that they not be called.  

If they do not comply MAKE YOUR REQUEST IN WRITING, (write something
simple, no need to provide reasons, one clear sentence should suffice),
and send it by certified mail.  If they persist, sue them. You might be
able to collect more money than total the amount of any overdue bills.
Or you can file a complaint with the FCC and get them fined.

Mr. James seems to have the mentality of a debt collector. Debt
collectors prey on people using intimidation. Often they get away
with thugish illegal tactics only because often people DO NOT KNOW

They have called here several times asking for someone that does NOT live here! The number they use is 614-360-2924--Columbus phone number.

Well, they are NOW calling from 614-300-3852.  They called me at 8:32 p.m. and, when I answered, I got a voice saying to "please stay on the line." I hung up and went home and looked up these people on the computer.  Frankly I DO owe bills but am working them out Chapter 13 with a 100% payback so I usually just tell people the case number and to jump on the wagon.  However; it's getting old because I see that this is Verizon and they were already notified and included.  Since the payback is 100% (even if it will take them 5 years to get all 100%), I don't feel that I am really cheating them.  And I have health problems and was out of work for almost a year.  I get TIRED of talking to rude bill collectors...so I just blocked this number....they can figure it out.

I called the number and asked if they would be able to remove my number as the person they are asking for was not at this number, the man was very polite and said he would note that this female was not at this number (my number) anymore, he had caller ID and was able to confirm my phone number.  I don't expect them to stop calling, but who know, miracles do happen.  The name of the company is Diversified Consultants their toll free number 800 604 0064 worked ok for me when I called.  They are out of Riverside California and yes they are a collection agency.

blocking the number doesn't do any good.  They are still able to call through even if you block their number.

These folks called my home phone and left a message looking for an individual by a similar name. I believe that they were skip tracing because my number is listed with my first initial and full last name. Regardless, they weren't calling for me personally but were trying to collect a debt.

By the way, the number listed on caller ID was for "Arrow Title Agency" at a Columbus, OH number: 614-360-2061 but the number left on the message was for Diversified Consultants. As mentioned in some of the other board messages, these people LOVE to enter fake identifiers.

My advice is to pick up the phone when these people call whether you owe a debt or not and excercise your rights by telling them to stop calling you.  If you owe them money, you are permitted by law to request that they only contact you in writing by mail.  It doesn't excuse the debt, but it will stop the phone calls.  If they don't stop calling, you can report them to your state's Attorney General for harassing you.

Caller named "Mark" called and asked for an employee. Told them they are not available and can call you back. Nasty attitude, but left phone number and extension: (800) 604-0064, Ext. 1080. He has called on other occasions and asked for different people, a couple of whom no longer works here. Definitely a collection agency - I called them back on my cell-phone (private) and no one would answer questions about what the company is or anything. I totally disregard all calls from DCI or the (800) 604-0064 number; they are using a multitude of extensions.

Who are you to judge all of us as if we owe the debt.  I assume you are one of the scumbags that wont even bother to verify if a purchased debt is indeed valid.  All you care about is the commision check you may or may not receive.  If I dont owe the debt and can prove it I will do everything in my power to make sure you are in the unemployment line!

I have filed a cease and desist letter with Verizon and copied the FTC. If this is indeed what I am being called about, then they can deal with the FTC.

I was left a voice mail for someone else with a similar name. Was told to call Jennifer at this number at extension 1168. When I called it was Diversified Consultants but never gave me a chance to enter extension number. It rang and rang. Finally I called back and a guy picked up. Of course Jennifer was gone for the day. I explained to him they are calling the wrong number and he starts asking if I know this person. I have one of the top 5 last names in the country and they expect that just because we have the same last name I would know this person. I try to tell them to put me on their do not call list and he basically says have a good day and hangs up.

Just received a call from this collection agency have no idea how they got the number I am using this is not even my phone number its a family phone number that I have never given out.

I agree with you..I tried to contact Verizon regarding my bill, but after I changed my phone provider I can never get through to anyone.  Sent letters with no response back.  I would have paid my bill but they tried to charge me for 2 months bill when I only owed 1 month.  They won't call back now that I have gone with another provider.  Oh well, there loss.  Call me back to fix the bill and I will pay.  Not going to pay for 2 months.  Contract was up.

They also call from these numbers: 904-647-2720, 904-647-2699 and 904-425-5048. Called back 425-5048 and it is Diversifed Consultants. Told the lady who answered that I do not know who the person they are looking for but the number they are calling is my 10 year-old's phone. She said she'll take it off from their list. We'll see...

Verizon collection call for ex-boyfriend with whom I have not been in contact for years. Good luck getting THAT money back, dudes.
