I got billed on my amex several times -- a charge of $9.94.  I never called that number, never used their services.  I remember I had to call amex in the past to revert these charges.

yes, happened to me. I was at Heathrow Airport, and I called my home town (300 miles away) and had to use my credit card.  Luckily, I was only charged $8.68, which is outrageous, but compared to some of the other amounts listed in this blog, I came out lucky I guess.  BUT, never again.

Call AMEX- like everyone else says they will dispute the charge right away and it comes back immediately. Tells you the company that is charging you is rift with FRAUD. None of the calls go through or if they do, it is for 2-3 minutes max and they highway rob you!! Calls made from any pay phones internationally anymore are a rip off - bottom line. There is no other word for it.

Same thing happened to me.  Made 5 calls from Barcelona airport to a local number, none of which went through and was charged $25 for each.  I did not attempt to call the company since I had read in previous posts that they only give a partial refund.  I contacted AMEX instead to attempt to get a full refund.  The first representative was very unhelpful and said "I wasn't standing next to you while you were making the call so I have no idea that none of the calls went through".  Then I talked to a supervisor who filed the dispute for me, but told me there are no guarantees and that the result of the dispute may take as long as 2 billing cycles.  Anyone have a similar situation and did you get a full refund?  Or did everyone who called AMEX get an immediate refund?

Thanks for any info!

Went to Costa Rica. Stayed in a friend's condo. He said to use the phone in the condo & just put it on a credit card. Called home a handful of times. Left 2 voicemails & spoke with my wife twice for about 5 minutes each (didn't even talk to the kids). Calls were $74.84 $39.91, $39.91, $59.87
Calling AMEX now!

I made an 800 (Free) phone call from the San Diego Airport to a cell phone provider and was charged $10.57 for this call. I wrote to the to the Airport Commission who told me that the service was provided by International Satellite Communications so I wrote to them. After 6 months of getting the same letter over and over again I contacted my credit card and sent the correspondence.  Within a few days I had a full refund.  I have followed up with the Airport Commission and advised them of the Internet posts on this phone number and asked them to cancel the ICS contract as a provider as it does not represent the City properly

Had the same experience as everyone here. If you call the company directly they will offer you a partial refund. Do NOT accept it. CALL THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY THAT YOU USED AND HAVE THEM DISPUTE THE CHARGE. It will go through automatically and you will be refunded in FULL (if you accept the partial refund you waive your right to lodge a further complaint).

I called in California from Detroit airport by a public phone.
I payed by credit card AMEX.
The duration of the call was 1m 30s.
The conditions appeared on the screen when they redirect th call.
My AMEX was charged 9.45 USD.
It's a real fraud and a shame for the airport of Detroit.
Be careful !

This number appeared as a reference denoted PAYPHONECALL on my AMEX billing. I expected these charges, as I made 2 phone calls while I was staying at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. The charges are under $10 each. It would be nice if there were some detail (length of call, number called), but the charges seem reasonable, so I won't bother.

Same story as everyone above...

On July 2nd I made a call from a PIT Int'l payphone to a place in FLL - it turned out to be the wrong number. I was on the phone for 10 seconds max. I found the charge today on my AMEX - $26.96!

This is terrible - it is basically fraud. How in today's society can an illegitimate service be offered in a seemingly legitimate setting - A US AIRPORT PAYPHONE!

I filed a complaint with AMEX - for now the funds have been refunded, hopefully this will be the end of this matter.

I made a credit card payphone call from Heathrow for about 1 min and was charged $35 on my Amex.  I called the company three times to get a printed receipt faxed to me.  Each time they said they would send it by a certain time later that day, but the receipt would never show up.  I won't do business with them again.

Two calls were made from Costa Rica to Canada using my credit card.  Both calls were just to inform family how when to phone on their calling card, one minute would be the extent of each call.

One call is being billed to me for 40.51 and the other one for 56.16

Can you please tell me first what this 8006079470 is and why the cost of this one minute call is so high.

Thank you and hope to hear from you as soon as possible.

I had to make a 1 minute phone call from the DFW airport in Texas to a a home number in Illinois.  I got charged for $8+ against my AMEX card for each call even though it was less than one minutes each.   DO NOT use any pay phones at the DFW airport using a credit card.

I made 2 calls from UK (Brussels airport).
1 call to US for less than 1 min
2nd call to India for 1.28 sec.

The company charged me $50 for first call and $100 for second call.

I called AMEX and have disputed the charge.  Will post the results once the credit card company gets back to me.

This is a totally fraud company and I hope more and more people post so that this can be stopped.

I've placed call from UK to India for total 4 min and this company charged my CC for $ 95. This is fraud, when I called them on 1-800-607-9470 they have given me $ 37 credit.
I suggest never use payphone for international call by using credit card.

I called five times from Dusseldorf airport to Holland. All call were under 1 minute except of one which was about 2 minutes. After four call the Amex stopped usage of my card; I was in emergency and used other card. It shows on my statements as call to San Isidro California and each call is around $59, the longer $75. What we could do to stop that?

Same here.. Made a call to India from London Heathrow. For 7 minutes, at $15 connection fee and $6/minute for a total of $60 charged to my Amex.

Called them and they gave a waiver of $22. They mentioned that the fees would be mentioned if pressed 0 before making a call in one of their prompt.

Buyer Beware.

I was in Mexico and used the in room phone at an all inclusive Resort. In all the literature we read it said there would be no extra charges if you used your Credit Card. So we called home (California, USA), using AMEX CC, got voice mail and left a quick message, less then a minute. Amex bill showed:
CALL LD*MexicoNov28 8006079470 CA $39.91
800-607-9470
I will call them and see what happens, worst case I will dispute the charges with AMEX. AMEX like's to know about these scams so they can suspend the Amex account charging these fee's.  They are very good at resolving these kind of issues.

I was charged $37 by this company for making a less-than-one-minute call from a payphone in Detroit airport to a number in western Pennsylvania. It appears that the organization running the Detroit airport signed a deal with a company that charges extortionate rates to install payphones.

I was charged $40US EACH for four less than 1 minute phone calls calling from my Mexico Iberostar Paraiso Beach resort to Canada.  I called the company and they would waive only half the charges.  Beware - this comnpany is evil.  I am filing a complaint with the hotel as well since the hotel card made it seem like there were no extra charges - the card said 'No Service Charge'.  Very misleading and dishonest.

I was charged 40 bucks for a minute call from Aruba to the US.  Amex couldn't do anything, the company did waive 16 bucks.  The gentleman didn't appreciate me telling him his company was a scam though!!
