Same story, same scam. Used the phone in London Heathrow to the States. Reached voicemail so I hung up and was charged $29.65 and a $.95 validation fee. Called the 800 number and talked to the rep.- was only able to get back half the amount to be credited in 1-2 weeks. Even though I had used a Master Card, I think the days are gone in which they would give you a full refund.

This company is a complete scam. They essentially take your money and then claim it's your fault for not double checking the rates. I had asked the hotel where the pay phone was located what the rates were, and was told it was 99 cents a minute. Clearly, that was not the case because I was charged $40 each time I called for 5 minutes. When I called to dispute these charges, the customer service rep only agreed to give me back $33 of my $80. $50 for a 5 minute call? RIDICULOUS.

These guys are ripoff artists.  Post your complaints at: http://800-608-0855.blogspot.com/  If they have stolen from enough people a class action lawsuit can be filed.

Hi, I got the money back from them one week later after I called them by 800-6-8-0855.They put all credits back into my mastercard. I will never use credit card to call at airport! So all you guys can try to call back to this company to ask for money back, you just tell them the rate is abmornal, if I know the rate is so high I won't call by credit! If they don't aggree, you ask your credit card company to dispute it.We shouldn't pay such bill.

I used this company to make a phone call from a public phone at the Sydney airport to Canada. The call was only 6 min and they charged me $36.00
I called Master Card and they said that there was nothing they could do, since I willingly gave my credit card information to the company. They cannot dispute the charge; the customer is responsible about finding the rates before they authorize payment. They gave me the Customer Protection number 1800 889 9768 so that I could file a complaint.
I called the phone company and they said that these are the rates and I should have talked to a live operator to find out about the rates before I made the call. Except it wasn`t indicated anywhere that you could call a live operator to find out about the rates.
They said that they would give me a $10 credit since it was my first time using this service. I kept arguing and asking for an invoice, and they changed the credit amount to $14. But this is as far as I could get.
Yes, basically they`re a rip off and there are no international laws to protect customers from such thief companies, who should announce their rates up front, and who take advantage of emergency situations.

I called home from Cabos (Mexico) for less than one min and the charge was C$48.55. After checking this forum and learning about the company's bad rep, I called them and complained. They basically told me that if I was stupid enough to make a call using my credit card then I should be able to pay with no problem. The rep (Jane Maya) told me that next time I should ask for the rate before making a call (as if you have a choice when you have to make an emergency call).

Anyways, they told me that as a first-time customer I'll be credited for C$15 only. Still this company is a rip off.

I Recently was in Italy over the past 2 weeks and before leaving I made a less than 1 minute phone call in Rome International and I just saw a charge for $41.91. I called the number and they said the only way to review the charges if I give them my Card number. I refused because I don't like to give my card number to companies unless I am completely aware of the company. Thank god for this forum because it makes me feel better that I did not give them my card number. My advice to people: NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR CARD NUMBER!!!! I have instances that could have costed me a great deal of money and security. I am going to through my credit card company to collect my funds as I think it will be more successfully. Good Luck to Everyone!

When I called the company,  I was told that the connection fee is 13.95 + 3.95 a minute, however there is a five minutes minimum. When you call back they credit you $15 dollars as a one time curtasy. BIIIIIGGGGGGG scam. Don't use your credit cards. No one reads this until too late.

I called Canada from Mexico when our flight was cancelled. The info by the phone said it was $4.50 a minute, so I made sure to keep under a minute. My Mastercard was charged $48.93 for the call and $0.95 for the credit card validation. Phoned the 1-800 number and dude-o said I could have half back. I didn't push it as I am also complaining to our tour company who put us in this hotel of dodgey-ness.

Mastercard says there's nothing they can do. Thanks for the info!

I was charged $42.32 for ~5 min LOCAL CALL(!) from Prague airport on December 11 2009.
Called 1-800-608-0855 and the rep promised to refund $16.92.
Still believe that $25 is way too much for a local call - going to dispute with my credit company (Citi Master Card)

I called home from Aruba to tell my parents that I'd gotten engaged! There was a sheet at our hotel that said the charge was $3/minute, so I figured hey, you only get engaged once...After trying 5 numbers and having NOBODY answer their phone, my credit card got declined. I called my cc company and they told me that I'd just made 5 charges of $49 EACH.
Um, what? I'm trying to call this 800 number first, but then I'm calling my cc company if it doesn't get resolved. Talk about a buzz killer.

I was in Denpassar Bali and had to make a phone call because my flight was going to be 2 hours late and I was going to miss my connection. I used my master card in what looked like a regular phone and got billed $53.99 and $53.91 Canadian for two calls that lasted a few minutes each.

One call from Barbados BGI airport, where there was no information on billing posted on the phone, 2 minutes, $29.10 plus $.95 connection fee. Called my bank, who gave me the phone number of this "company", 1-800-608-0855.  After taking my credit card number again to look up my specific charge, Tom Hernandez (in Los Angeles, CA) told me they could offer a one-time refund of $11.64. Took it, but still furious.

Same thing happened to me. Two calls from Madrid airport using a public telephone and swiping my card. Maybe one minute each, and got charged $46.92 for each call, plus $0.95 "card validation" fee.
I also called 1-800-608-0855 and got the same explanation of charges (min 5 minutes @$6 each, plus connection fee of $15), but unfortunately was only able to get them to refund 1/3 of the charge. I guess it depends on the person answering the call...
Still very mad about the rip-off...

Made two phone calls from Sweden's Arlanda airport, about a minute each.  1st one was $36.91 and 2nd one was $36.94.  And of course, I only see it on my Master Card bill.  I called the number as was recommended by other users, and it worked like a charm.  Thanks so much!  The customer service rep (Kevin B) was very clear to say that the company, Int'l Satellite Communications, has a special relationship with Master Card and is willing to make a full reimbursement of both calls as a 1-time courtesy, and it will show up in 1-2 weeks.  It was not even necessary to be hostile at all... it was almost as if it was just routine business.  He explained that it is $10-15 for connection fee and then $2.50 per minute, with a minimum of 5 minutes.  And he recommended that before making such phone calls again I check the rate by pressing '3' in the system or talking to the operation '0'.  Thanks to everyone for your comments beforehand!!!

A 2-minute call from airport in Belgium totaled $55.97 + .95 card validation fee. I was given no way to get the rates ahead of time, or any warning what the cost would be.

As suggested in the post here, I called and had the cust. service issue a full refund. We'll see if it actually comes thru.

My husband called from Ireland on the way home from Iraq as well. Our charge was $58.23. Just got off the phone with them and they are refunding the charges. He told me next time my husband needed to be more careful. I told him (Brian C.) maybe next time they needed to be more upfront and not such a fraud.

Husband called home from Germany on his way out of Iraq, the call came to 54.83!!!  I called the company and they told me that we should have requested to talk to a live operator, but they would do a one time refund because we had Mastercard.  Definitely call and complain, and if they won't refund it contact your card company!  This is not right, and they should be up front with their charges.
