http://tnsos.org/charitable/CharitableOrgReports.php provides financial reports for all TN charities.  Search on Tennessee Police Federation.  The report for the last 8 years provides a picture of a charity that manages to pay itself almost 100% of the money taken in.  If I am reading this report wrong, please correct my impression that this is not an organization that I would support.

No one can make you give or do anything.  They are not in control when they call...you are!
I do not give over the phone.  I give to local charity through my church.  I do not give to any police, trooper, fireman's funds or anyone else.  They chose the job and they are paid to do it.  If they are unhappy about the pay,  work conditions,  benefits,  retirement,  or anything else,   they should do like every other American must do and go find another job.  I do not give thru them to charities.  Acceptable carities are available for direct donations with no need to go through a third party.

Non-profit Organization
They call pretty often and are persistent. If you tell them that you can't afford to give, they just quote you a lower donation. They try to make you feel bad if you don't give, and I feel like they try to intimidate you by following your call up by making you tell a superior that you have committed to give. I give freely to local groups, but I cannot afford to give to everyone. I have mailed out a lot of money over the years to this group and several more, but if I continue, I will never be able to retire. Real giving comes from the heart, and if they have to make you give, the only people it helps is them. I just wish it would stop. I am just glad to know that I am not dealing with this by myself.

Non-profit Organization
let me shed a little light on the situation the Tennessee police federation is a fraudulent "non Profit" organization they raise around 200k to 300k a year but what they do not tell you is that the "scholarships" they award is about 1000 dollars worth a year so they pocket 190 to 290 THOUSAND! dollars each year and they are NOT supported by the BBB if you go to the bbb website it will say they are not. don't fall into the scam of these people all they do is load you with BS and make you feel bad for not donating when in reality its just a bunch of fraudulent people trying to skam you out of money "legally"  yes 100% of what you give goes to the tpf but only .5 of a percent goes to the essay contest. Please spread the word!!!!!!!!!!!

i received a 'reminder notice' in the mail from the Tennessee Police Federation that i had not paid my pledge.  it all looks quite official, but we NEVER make pledges over the phone and instead ask for printed information about the group.
.
i have called the phone number listed at the bottom of their mailing 1.800.617.9693 numerous times and there is never an answer.

checked online with Better Business Bureau in Nashville about the TPF but they are not a part of the BBB.

i thought about sending the 'reminder' back, telling them i made no pledge, and send it with no money and postage due, but decided it wasn't worth the trouble.  i just wonder about the people who are caught in this scam and actually send money to them.

In the past we have made donations to TN Law Enforcement Officers Association, as well as TN FOP, but they are calling much more often than once a yr. and I do not appreciate being awakened at 8:15 on Sat. morning if I am trying to make up for losing too much sleep during the week.  I think these nonprofit organizations should find a way to limit their calls to once a year from either entity and not continually call when we don't have time to explain to them that our last donation was less than 6 mos. ago and we cannot afford to make any additional donations.  I understand you can call the TN FOP at 800-783-7591 to be placed on their internal do-not-call list, but don't know if this includes TLEOA as well or not.
In the past I have received both Nashville and Collierville, TN mailing addresses for the organization.

I do not answer toll-free number calls, so you'll never get me.  It would be more effective if you sent something through the mail, because you always call at inappropriate times ( dinner tim, etc).

HI i am a enployee for the tleoa (tennessee law enfocment officers association) we work along side the tennesse police federation we are not 3rd party callers or paid solictors we work directly for the organizations meaning all the money raised goes to the organizations cost the tpf acutally sponsers a essay contest for students in highschool to help prevent drugs and alchol and tleoa is sponsering the child id program meaning we provide children id in case they become lost or missing.  the organizations are not scams if you were to recive the infomation we send we have all are contact numbers are head of the organizations name number mailing address along with organization numbers and everything thats sent back is actually asked to be a check or money order with the tleoa as the payee or tpf sry to burst your bubble people that say were scams. your are just wrong or mistakin  as for those of you that get a call and there is no one there to talk (and i speak from both organizations on this part) we are very sorry to waste your time awnsering the phone and the frustration of no one being there heres the reason for that. we all call on whats called a dialer it choses numbers at random that we have stored on file and then calls them its self while we are ready to call unfortuanly it doesnt know how many people are going to pick up or how many phones are going to be busy so it contiunes to dial even if all callers are already talking so there for that explains the droped calls. To fix this problem it would cost lots and lots of money and we belive that the organizations need the money more then are equipment. and for the last thing i saw on this page people the dnc list for the u.s. does not apply to non profit organizzations and that is what both us are so it is not illegal for us to call you and the goverment belives it is inportant for us to contact residents because of what both of are organizations are doing
to contact me please

Received call from 1-800-609-0210 on 03/24/2009, no one responded when I said Hello, so I hung up. Tried to call back later, said I had no credits.
I don't mind donating to a charity, but I think I'll just drop the check off at my local police station!

These people have been calling me for years. Sometimes they identify themselves as the Fraternal Order of Police, sometimes TN Police Federation. The person who calls me is always the same guy. He won't take no for an answer and says he'll put me down for a $25 donation even though I say I'm not donating anything. He gets really nasty when I tell him I'm not donating "period", and to take me off the list, which he refuses to do. I made the mistake of donating several years ago when I got the first call, thinking it was a good cause, but the next year I couldn't afford to donate and he got ugly with me and has been just as nasty ever since. This last time I told him HE personally is the reason I will no longer donate to this organization. The way this guy treats the people he calls is causing the organization to lose money. They need to get rid of this guy!

Report these calls from 1-800-609-0210 to the DONOTCALL registry over and over if you have to, as once you call back this tele.# you start getting more calls where it displays all 000's as the number. If they get enough complaints maybe they will fine these suckers doing this to people.
Also if this persons info is correct and it is registered to these people (The T.P.F is a non-profit org. registered with the state of TN. as such) contact the state offices of Tn and make them fine these people and remove these no.'s from them

I just got the same call from 1-800-609-0210 (12-19-08, 11:25am) and I didn't answer and no message was left.  I get calls from TFP and other such named groups, real or phony I don't know.  I wish they'd stop even non-profits from calling because I don't trust the calls and never do business from someone calling me.  If the organization is legit I ask for them to mail me something that I can check out, then I decide if its something I want to give to, but never from a phone call.

Recieved call identified as TN police Federation asking for donations to be able to mail packet with decal. The wierd thing was that after he finished his monologue, he said that he needed to transfer me to a lady in the address department. I expected that the phone would change to another extention...NOPE!  He handed her the phone cause she was sitting right there next to him.  NO break in background noise, no hold call, nook I am transfering you.
