We had a power outage today and Socal Ed was supposed to call me back when it was fixed.  They called 3 hours after the issue was resolved.  They ARE getting better at calling back!

I also don't know how to classify this call, since the choices are limited, so I went with 'event reminder'.  I guess that's as close as I'll get to 'call back'.

Yup, Edison. Had an outage last night and they called 10 hours late.  They are getting better.

yes we had a BRIEF power outage on Tuesday and I requested them to call when they knew something.

On a Sunday morning at 11 AM I received a call that did not other leaving a message on my answering machine.  

The notation on the caller ID was "Visalia, City of" (a town in Central California South of Fresno).  I am in Southern California and my parents live in that area ... but no reason for them to call my number.

I had someone else call it and they said it was an adult chat line.

11/02 9:10 Edison calling to (I think) tell me that the power outage I reported last night has been fixed, about 12 hrs. after the fact.  What I don't understand is why they don't identify themselves so that folks like me can easily recognize who is calling.  Most of us use this site because we get so many scammers and unwanted call from various other sources.  I'm not sure what happened to the previous reporters but when I called number back it was SCE.  How do I classify this one?

11/02 9:07  Actually was Edison.  Had power outage last night, reported it and was supposed to get a call back when fixed.  They are only about 12 hrs. late getting back to tell me that was fixed by 21:10.  Since # shows as unavailable, didn't answer but after reading Raydean's note, decided to try returning call and it is answer by Edison Co.  I don't know how to classify this call type so will just show as unknown.

Two nights (mornings) before this call we  receieved a telemarketer call at the same exact time as this call, 1:30 am, I will be calling SCE as I am infuriated....we had a power outage during the day, they called us about an hour after power was restored, but what kind of moron calls during the middle of the night like this?! Glad our household was woken up like this twice in two day by ignorant companies.

tonight received 2 rec. messages from sce re: outage 581635, so I called the number back.  Rep told me I did not show on their records, & anyway SDGE is my provider.  Why is this company calling anyhow?  Thanks!!!

SoCal Edison calling to tell me my power is back on after the area outage yesterday.....DUH, the blinking clocks, and the cup of coffee I'm drinking tells me the power is on.  Hey, but thanks Edison for returning my call.

(800) 611-1911 is from Southern CA Edison, telemarketing division, soliciting people to sign up for a monthly flat rate charge to their existing electric accounts.

During August, September and October 2012 I got called almost 3 x per week, and my requests to not call me, I'm not interested, kept getting ignored.

I had to call Edison and speak to a supervisor to end the harassing solicitations.  The flat rate (same $$$ each month) for 12 months would have cost me more, than what I was averaging. Edison took the highest bill, times 12, to give the highest flat rate possible.

I had a power outage the day of this call. I reported the power outage to Southern California Edison who is my electricity provider. I googled the phone number that showed up in my cell phone and I found a FAQ page from Southern California Edison.  Here is an excerpt from that FAQ. I presume the call was to follow up on the restoration of power service. I did not answer as it was late at night.

Southern California Edison automated call about power outage being repaired...returned call to number left when originally reporting the outage.

Yep. This is, for me anyway, a REQUESTED CALL from Southern California Edison. I had a outage and they offered to let me know when they were done by sending a recorded message. As Ann says, my HOME PHONE is of course, hooked up to AC power, like most wireless phones are nowdays. So I gave them my cell. The work just got done and viola! This number popped up with a recording letting me know they were done. Of course I kinda knew already since my power had come back on, but I guess if you AREN'T at home, say at work or this is a relative's house or such, it's a useful feature.

No need to name call..... It's the power company number for power outages. They'll call your cell (if you gave that number to them) with outage information -  because many land line phones are out when the power is off. If your power is off, you can call this number, and they'll tell you if it has been scheduled and when it is expected to be on again. SCE mails notices of scheduled outages, but sometimes the maintenance takes longer than anticipated, in which case they'll call. They'll call the cell to tell you it's back on..... thoughtful of them, you may be at work- then you don't have to stop on the way home and buy ice for your refrigerator.
