keep getting these calls but no body talks so I hang up  we didn't have citi we had HSBC they turned us down for home mod so they sold to caliber loans they lowered our payments to include txes and insurance so far no problem so sorry obamas refinance didn't work I guess they weren't made for the average person had to have a high mortage

Receiving calls from 800-621-1437 (United States) was below number. Previously with HSBC (HFC) mortgage. My house was in foreclosure. Put up for auction by HSBC due to foreclosure on January 10, 2014. Yet at the same time they sold it to Caliber Home Loan and stopped receiving payments after January 31, 2014. HSBC had my house in foreclosure and sold it to another loan company at the same time.

Caliber bought my loan from the only company that could be worse...HSBC.  I spoke with them yesterday because I hadn't received my welcome packet.  I was advised that I needed to apply for a loan modification.  I provided all of my information and am now awaiting a packet.  I missed a call, listened to the message, called back and spoke with a woman who was helpful, but couldn't offer any help with the unwanted calls.   I hope they aren't as bad as HSBC, but I've got the feeling that they are.  Maybe I will just walk away from the house.  

Have called 4 days in a row, same time, no message. And yes, our mortgage was just sold to them.
We have already received paperwork from them saying that they are debt collectors and information
collected will be used to satisfy that debt.  We're 15 years into our mortgage and now we have to deal with this crap....

I received a call from this company, (Veriquest) also known as Calibur, there was no identification on the caller I.D.  The woman calling began asking me personal information, she claimed it was to verify that she was speaking to the correct party, however, I told her I had no idea who SHE was and that I would not give out any personal information.  She would not speak to me unless I told her my address etc. etc..... I told her "then I guess we don't talk, you called me".  She was rude with her tone of voice and said "fine then". I hung up and called my husband at work.  He said that our mortgage had been sold in May, I sure hope it was not sold to this company.  We are not behind, we are early with payments and always have been.  Not sure what they wanted, but sounded fishy and unprofessional for sure.

Better check who your mortgage is with ..if your lender sold your loan to them.  This is Caliber Home Loans  which is just the new name for Vericrest Financial.  Probably changed their name due to all the negative responses about them. But make no mistake they are the same people

I will keep this thread up to date as things unfold.
I was notified today that Chase sold my loan to Vericrest.   I am currently 90 days late on the note and I expect to lose my home if I don't make a payment soon to keep under 90days.  Just an FYI to Obama, If I can't come up with the cash, I won't be hollering about how the government should tax my neighbors to pay for me to get a second deferment or some other hand-out.  I will simply lose my home and somebody else who has been more financially wise than I will buy my house at auction for a steal.  Good for them.
As of today I have the following observations about my experience and concerns with VeriCrest
1. My Insurance company knew about the loan move before I did.  Apparently vericrest dropped them as providers when they bought my loan.  I assume VeriCrest is going to try and push their insurance product on me.
2. I got the letter today,  May 1st and it says I am supposed to be notified 15 day prior to the loan transfer which will take place April 15th.. the letter is dated April 23rd.  Not a big deal but seems like a bad start.
3. I did have to spend about 30 minutes on hold to reach a person. He seemed very helpful and knowledgeable.  I had a 17 minute conversation and did not get the feeling that he was just a bill collector.
4. The packet that arrived today indicates that all my private info will be shared with third parties and "our family of affiliated companies".  Again, this seems like another opportunity for monetize their customer database.  I am opting out, but I hope they make a killing of you other suckers.

Also, I read the above reviews and they are pretty sobering about people losing their homes.  But the fact is if you fall behind on your mortgage you are going to lose the home.  If the bread winner kicks the bucket or a teenager gets pregnant- life is going to get challenging.  VeriCrest doesn't have the balls to openly say that to your face- but that is why your loan was sold to them.  They are a meat shop for dead animals carcasses, that is why they are calling you.

We are another victim of the scumbag company :  Vericrest Financial.  We got screwed over by them. They would NOT agree on a loan modification. They lowered a 8% loan to 7.9% saving us $17 per month. That did not work, so they said if we agreed to "short sale" they would forgive the debt and no foreclosure would be on our names. So we went along with them and we got an RE and got 5 bids on the home! Then they tricked us and sold it at an auction date they said was cancelled. Totally ignore the bids and the RE agent. They sold it back to themselves, 5 minutes before 5 PM on the auction date for $585K,  then 2 weeks later sold it to Union Bank for $544K, then sold the extra $225K debt to a Cinco Financial and we have a "forecloser "on our credit report. The RE agent was furious!, in all her 25 years  as a R.E. agent, she has NEVER seen a bank be so ruthless!  The $255K debt was u-collectable in CA, so we lucked out there.  Conclusion : VeriCrest Financial  is nothing more than a "rotting carcass"

vericrest is a monster returned payments, payments applied to disputed and untrue late fees, forced placed insurance ,pre paid taxes and false credit reporting/ so on, make there live miserable and do what i have done don?t let them bully you report them to your local congressman and state attorney general its been a long battle but we are finally winning stay strong and you also can beat the BEAST but remember to fight its not easy stay strong and keep all documents for future records this will help in fighting them.

Thank you God, finally there are people like me, I am and have been in the same 100% situation, I have my documents, I was on trial with CITI and then they sold it to  the Loan Sharks    VERICREST FINANCIAL,  someone needs to do something, they are trying to foreclose on my house this Friday the 16th, I am filing chapter 13 to buy time, running out of bullets, they have violated the home mod. they denied before the giving  30 days to complete my document and put me to foreclosure, they have ignored the HAMP GUIDE LINES, they are doing what ever they want to do, and please some one help, contact me :  202-320-1832

Me too!  Been dealing with CitiMortage since last November!  They keep stalling, switching me to new reps, require new documents that I ALREADY sent them!  I am looking into finding a class action suit against them.  Does anyone know if my state attorney can help?  I am so sick of them giving me the run around!  These people used my tax dollars for their bailout and say on their website they are here to help?  What a joke!

Ditto here. in the middle of filing my 3rd set of modification papers and citimortgage sold to veriquest. I'm disgusted with the whole thing. Ready to tear up the house and tell them to come get the keys!

Hey I was in the same situation in Denver.  I got a loan modification when I got 6 months behind on my mortgage.  CITI approved the loan modification via my attorney Option Mediation. I made the three payments, but when I sent in the 4th one they never cased the check and then said, "We have sold your loan to another company."  I now forget the name of the other company, but when the forclosure started, I got legal papers from CITI.

Do you have any suggestions?  Should I hire a local attorney to sue CITI or join the class action suit.  My email is Alangay999@gmail.com

We recently lost our home from the same exact situation, I got approved for my loan mod from Citi, paid the 90 days trial period all on time then next thing I know I am getting letters from Vericrest stating they bought my mortgage, they said they didn't DO loan mods through their company and they werent aware of my situation, I faxed all my final approval paperwork from Citi to them and they still wouldn't accept it, I am upset, frustrated and confused and would like to know how I can get involved in the class action lawsuit??

My husband is a police officer and was hurt on the job back in May.  He suffered a broken leg and many tears in his knee.  We went without his overtime pay for many many months and got behind on our mortgage.  Citi finally approved a modification, and our three trial payments were going to include our taxes and insurance, which we were so happy about.  Two months into the trial period, we received a letter from Vericrest about the sale of our mortgage.  We called them and they said they would not honor the modification and we would have to figure out something else.  Now, remember we had already made one payment to citi under our trial period, but for some reason Vericrest has not record of that.  Vericrest then told us we would qualify for a refinance, so we went through that process only to be told No, by the company who first said we would qualify.  Now we have a HAMP packet, and we know this too is a joke, especially after reading what everyone else has gone through.  We don't know what to do.  Do we just walk away from our home, do we stay until we are forced to leave or do we get an attorney, which we can't really afford.  We can now make our payments, but we can't pay the $9,000 they say we owe them, which we know we don't owe that much.

PLEASE notify me if you find one against Vericrest and I would LOVE to file with Citimortgage also.

My sitation is almost identical to yours!! We agreed to a forebearance with Citimortgage and the next month I was notified that they sold my mortgage to Vericrest. Then Vericrest would not take my payment because the did not see I had a forebearance after three months faxing verification of the Forebearance to different departments and getting very loud and angry, they agreed to take my payments and allow the previous payments.

The same week that they agreed to take my previous payments, Vericrest filed for Foreclosure against me. I then called Vericrest and they said the Foreclosure is on hold until the Forebearance amount is paid in full.

After reading your email below, I feel that they purposly delayed taking my payments so they could foreclosure on me.

I am contacting an attorney and will start looking for the Class Action Lawsuit against Citi mortgage and will do what I can to get Vericrest Mortgage.

I just started getting calls and the reps I speak to always seem to have an attitude. This loan is on a property of which I am an executor but I don't make payments, they are drafted from a fiduciary account and have been since 2004 but now all of a sudden i'm not receiving calls concerning payments. This loan was originally started out a CIT Group account.  So I guess i've been sold to Vericrest too. . What can I do?

This number is from Veriquest mortgage company who will hide their name if you owe them money
and disguise their name on caller id.  When they call me they come up as "National Drug info center"
so I dont answer!  Why are they being so sneeky?? I never chose them, my old mort. Co.

economy, who hasent??  I think they are really a collection agency!!  Their custmer service is awful!
