I am not sure what these people are up to. We got a letter from Bank of America but never said why and stated that we should now mail our mortgage payments to SPS.  We still get a payment coupon from Bank of America and have received a random payment coupon from SPS for the next payment.  My father in law who owns the house next door to use\ received a very accusing phone call from a Rich DeRoma.  He would not state where he was from and could not give him any information. He just kept accusing him of owning our property after he tried to explain that he did not own it his son did.  The man would not let up and told him he was lying about owning the property. In turn he would not give him any information. WTF  They claim to have our mortgage now would they not have the right contact information.  The worst part is  my father in law has a cell phone under someone else's name. So how did they obtain that information  Thanks you for all of the information we will be calling Bank of America and an Attorney.

Yeah, these guys falsely identified themselves with a slip on the door just today.  Somebody came by and dropped it off on the door handle, it claims to be "R R R" instead of SPS for some reason.  Guess they're getting desperate to claim on people they have no legal grounds on.   I labeled this as debt collector, but honestly what are we supposed to call somebody who is trying to collect on a debt they have no legal backing for?

Too bad for them you are not legally liable for your father-in-law's debts.

Get the attorney handling his probate to go after them.

My father in law passed in December and they have been sent the death certificate 3 times the property is in probate and they have had the balls to tell us that they will take our stuff because my wife was the power of att. before he passed and since the judge has not granted a personal rep yet they still want us to pay his bills and this was said by the person on the phone that our bills can wait his are the ones we need to pay. If you can stay away from SPS       DO IT  and save yourself a lot of headache

My dad is in a battle with these Select Portfolio Servicing buffoons. These people say you're days behind on your mortgage payment and keep trying to milk more money out of you like you're some kind of money cow. These people need to be reported to the FBI and the BBB. My dad said that his credit is now ruined thanks to the SPS people. These people need to go to hell and messing with my family. Sorry for my language but I hate it when people mess with my family! It's slowly tearing us apart. :'[

I have had an account with SPS for years...account was sold by previous mortgage co....heard they were bad, but once your mortgage is sold, what can you do....unfortunately I was laid off, then put on medical disability when I modified my mortgage with them twice....unfortunately I had to take what I could get to keep my home....now like everyone else, I am under water with my house and my mortgage....got myself a real estate attorney who is now handing my case.  Of course his first step was to contact SPS & file a cease order, they are not to contact me, only him....so one day neighbor informs me that someone comes to my house, takes pictures, & leaves something on my door.  Of course it does not say whom it is from, but has this number on it....first thing I did was look the number up online & low & behold it is tied to SPS....next thing I did was contact attorney.  Thank you for this website, I will direct him here if necessary.  I wish everyone the best & suggest a real estate attorney to either keep your house or get out from under it.  You can't worry about your credit though, remember, thousands are in this spot & have been for years, this why we had land contracts years ago, & why they are coming back...Lenders are going to have to make accommodations for people who found themselves here or there will be no one to lend to.  I have been keeping everything else on my credit clean so this will be my only black mark.  It was hard, against what we were always taught, but when times are tough you have to do what you have to do.  Bless you all.

They collected 96 thousand in interest and this loan was for 67 thousand dollars back in 1997. This company is a scam...im looking on how i can get away from this mess,,,its a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!  hate this company so bad.  I wish my old mortgage had not sold my loan to SPS....it's terrible. PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION!!!!!

Please, read this carefully!
They were onece called Fairbanks Capitol sued by the FTC for fraud. Go to FTC site to read about them!
Go to MSFRAUD.ORG and read up on Mortgage Servicing Fraud. Videos and latest news there too.
Go to youtube and look for videos on "Produce the Note" with atty Yanchunis & others. Other videos in there by Attorney Neil Garfield. Look for videos on Mortgage Servicing Fraud. Garfield has list of attorney's that can helpon his living lies blog site...some are good, some not, but weed thru them. Few Attorney's know this area of law or some don't care (in bed w/banks) so, be careful in attorney search.
Go to Neil Garfield's site and read up on Mortgage servicing fraud. Also, read up on Loan or mortgage securitizationto see why you have this. You must study this in order to fight back.
Send these Bas-turds a certified letter telling them that under the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act to stop calling you. Sign it, keep copies of mail sent, track it. Keep proof in file. Then if they call, go ahead and answer and refuse to talk to them about your loan case. They LIED to us on every level. Mortgage servicer that are wrapped up in fraud want money they don't have a right to and still want to foreclose on you.  If they get you on phone..Just tell them they are violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act! Do not engage in case details NO matter how they try to draw you into talking about your account! Tell them you wrote them telling them not to call you and they are violating Fair Debt Coll. Prac. Act law. THEN, HANG UP!  Best to record call as they are recording you too. Go to Radio Shack for recording device. Tell them you are recording them near end of call after you remind them of breaking law, etc.  They will try and con you asking for some update...that is their ploy to break the do not call. They train in psychological methods to scare you. DO NOT ENGAGE in ANY conversation with them regarding your account. Do that by certified mail ONLY. Send the a QWR or RESPA. Look that up online too. . Do ALL correspondance by mail. Take them thru the BBB UTAH or your state to make them answer you.  They have 10 days I believe on Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) to answer your mail and respond. Look up FDCPA Law to see rules. If they call you, file a claim on them for violation of FDCPA which I think is $1000-$1500 fine. Gotta keep records, phone bills, etc. They are a debt collector! THEY ARE NOT YOUR LENDER! They are supposed tobe collecting for your lender which may be long gone? must have a securitization search done to find your lender! May be dead account!   Look up this term: PRETENDER LENDER!  Some servicers lie anyway by phone so, get everything in writing. Some of these fraud servicers want your home to foreclose because it could be wrapped up in the Wall Street loan securitization fraud with insurance policies to pay them when they make you default. They scam co's insure the fake loan note copies they made on your house. So, for example: one $200,000 home could be worth millions to some of these servicers in foreclosure. NO TELLING WHAT they have done with your original IOU, blue ink w/your finger prints on it loan note IOU! Get a forensic loan audit done to find fraud in your closing documents. Garfield has forensic loan audit info. Find locally if possible.   In many cases the fraud servicers copy off your loan note (MERS for ex)  and sell the fake copies to investors who also get screwed. They don't pay them and pocket the money from you. You have to study this. There are some loan securitization charts on youtube..watch them.
We created a FB site to chat. We are not experts, but homeowners also screwed so, spread the word and come chat with us. Together we must go to our politicians and fight back. Elections coming...only time they listen! We are called, Homeowners Against Mortgage Servicing Fraud" on FB.  God be with you all!  The pretender lenders want your home and you on the street!

Yes.  It is Select Portfolio, and yes, they ARE corrupt, and yes, they are under investigation.  That, unfortunately does not do any of their mortgagees any good at this point in time.  I wish that there was something we could do about it it, (assist in the investigation, et cetera ) but I have not come up with any ideas as of yet.  They are truely horrible people.

Its the damn mortgage company wanting their damn money. They will start calling you if you're 5 days late. Tell them if they take your house, they will inherit an empty damaged box that they will only get less than half of what you owe because of the market and all the work that it needs to make it livable. ;)
