My cell phone's Caller ID showed (800) 560-1776.
When I answered, robo voice asked me to hold for the next available rep (NO identifying info given to me by robo).
I repeated "Who is this?" every 5 seconds until they dropped the call 45 seconds later.
My number has been on DNC list for YEARS. I have reported dozens of DNC violations via touch-tone (IVR) for years yet some habitual offenders still keep calling back.
. From my own experience, I believe the DNC is useless.  When I report violations via IVR, why does it even ask me if I have asked the violator to put my number on THE COMPANY's own DNC list?
Haven't I already fulfilled my duty by following the FTC's instructions to enter my phone # in the DNC list? I don't want the violators calling me in the first place, so why should I be expected to talk to them at all?

Yes, you should be able to successfully block the number on your cell phone.  On mine it will not ring but will record it as a missed call.

I cannot work and just started getting disability and sending money to the hospital, drs, rx, etc. Well, it is now the 5th month and the hospital turned it over to Firstsource Advantage, LLC (They bill says that they just changed from Firstsource Financial Solutions, LLC). I just started getting disability last month. I can only pay $50 a month, but they want $200/mo. Well, I guess I can turn off the phone now, I need elect & food. I don't know what else to turn off, hmm. maybe send a couple of dollars for a bullet.

These people called my work and left a message for me to call them regarding a debt.  The number they called isn't even in the same building that I work in.  That person sent me an e-mail saying I needed to call them.  How embarrassing.  They called my cell phone number which I don't know how they got it and as soon as they hung up they called my work.  Should I call them back to see what they want and how do I get their address to send them a letter asking them to quit calling me at work?

told me he was an attorney and that there was a warrant for me in califonia and that the police would be comming to my work to arrest me. When I ask why there was so much customer service call center noise in the back ground he got very rude. I am a legal student and was able to verify that there was no such warrant. He was using information that he got from a online load that I had taken

First things first---

They violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by disclosing your debt to third parties.

Second, they are not allowed to call and harass you at work--but you have to tell them this in writing. This is also your right under the FDCPA. Once they receive your letter they have to stop calling or they can be fined $1,000 per violation. Send it VIA certified mail with return receipt requested.

When they call back, let them know you will be filing a complaint against them with the Federal Trade Commission for violating third party disclosure under the FDCPA:

Can these collector companies call me at my place of employment on my work line. They told my co-worker who they were and I owe a debt. I do not know how they found my work number.  Now my employer and all my 50 + co- workers know about my financial problems.  Can they call you at work and harass me? Does anyone know?

It a debt collector and Dallas Presbyterian use them. They are extreamly rude and when they ask you a question they won't let you answer. They go out of their way to not let you talk, by yelling calling names and then tell you you have bills to pay and then they hang up. They were called United Revenue and they use this number too.817-640-4477.If you look that one up it gives you their address and locations

The 800-650-1776 calls me every day (7 days a week) and has been doing so since May. I do owe a hospital bill so I am pretty sure why they are calling me but funny thing is.. I DO NOT GIVE my CELL # to ANYONE but family.. I gave them my home #. And told them to use that as an emergency number as well. I finally did what someone else mentioned here on the link.. I Saved the contact with a name (wont mention what that name was ;o) ) And since I don't have the option of not having a ringtone I gave it the "Door Bell" Because it reminds me of Door to door sales men ;o) Ha/ha.. Anyway.. They do leave a message 99% of the time.  I noticed today they didn't leave one which is the first for them.  Good luck on getting rid of them.. I'm about to call my phone company and have them blocked.. Has anyone tried this before?  Does it work?

Whether it is a collector for a hospital or not, and I do owe but have been paying, they wake me up every morning. So I am setting this number as a "contact" on my phone, giving it a name like "800 Pest 1" and assigning it a "NONE" ring tone, so the phone does not ring. They do leave messages and the message tone does come on, but it is soft and does not wake me up.

Number came through on my hardline while I wasn't home, and what threw me was that my Caller ID showed it as WIRELESS CALLER along with the 800-650-1776 (/sarc got to love the use of the patriotic year). That was why I came to this site to try to determine if it might be legitimate...although I AM puzzled as to why the ID showed as being from a wireless number, but considering today's technology, they may have set up something to make it appear as if it is from a cell phone.

First Financial - this seems to be legit, as I do in fact owe for a hospital bill. However, I had called the hospital in question about 3 months ago and made arrangements to pay out the bill, and have been paying it on time.

The fact that they have turned me over to a bill collector is reprehensible.  First Financial called my work number about 2 minutes after they called my cell#, and then 'apologized' for calling me again.  I told them, when they called my work #, that I had already made arrangements with the hospital, and if they ever call me either on my cell or at work again, I will file a complaint with both the FCC Do Not Call and the Texas State Attorney General's office.  What the lady in question did not know was that I am in fact filing a complaint anyway.  You would think that these morons would Google their own numbers once in a while to see how abysmal is their conduct, and what people are saying about them.

Call everyday.  Finally left a message on answering machine--gave me 3 seconds to hang up if I wasn't the person being called (which was my name), then another 3 seconds to make sure no one else could hear the call because it was "a personal and confidential" financial call, and talked about debt collection.  I think they identified themselves as First Source Financial.

I don't have any uncollected debt.
