Whoever said that they called NSLSC and was told it was legitimate is probably a part of the scam. Don't give out your personal info to them. Just deal directly with NSLSC to protect yourself from fraud. I received a call today from this number, the msg was half cut off saying I needed to call them immediately. A bit suspicious that we all receive only half messages from some 3rd party company wanting our SIN number and personal information?

I contacted NSLSC immediately and they stated that the number is legitimate. It is a courteous call for individuals who have applied for the repayment assistance program.  

I called this Number, they are i guess 3rd party be half of OSAP. they asked me to mail them my prove of income, so i guess its OK.

Got the same call on my cellhone. A pre-recorded message also told me to call them back at 1-800-668-9398. (I'm in BC)

Weren't sure if it's about my Repayment Assistance Plan application, so I also called National Student Loans Service Centre directly (1-888-815-4514, number found here: https://nslsc.canlearn.ca/eng/contactus.aspx). They checked the RAP status for me and told me what to do next.

the number's legit.  its because your info was on the hard drive that was stolen.  but instead of calling that number, call 1 866 885 1866 and they'll confirm if your info was on the hard drive and they'll set up everything: some credit protection thing free for 6 years.  the 1866 number is an actual government number, i just called them after talking to osap who gave it to me

I got a call today (Jan 29, 2013) from 1 905 306 6249 at 8:30 this morning claiming to be the National Student Loans Centre.  They told me to call them back immediately at 1 800 668 9398. This number does not match any of the Nat'l SL numbers. This is the second time they've called me, and each time they leave me a different number in which to contact them.

My info had been stolen because the hard drive had gone missing so I am really extra wary of this.

Got a message on my answering machine from someone claiming to be from the Canada Student Loans Service Center.

They've called twice and left messages on my answering machine asking for me to call back at 1-800-668-9398.  The number didn't match the real government loans service center.

Today, they called just now (Sat 8:38 am) and asked me to call back at 1-866-303-3503 (I pretended to not be me, since I was expecting them).  And they asked me to call back between Mon-Fri 8 am - 8 pm (yet I get this call from them on Sat morning?).
