Most charities with "police" or "sheriff" in the name are fake.  They keep at least 95% of your donation to cover expenses.  And if you give them any money they call for more.  The calls will continue for years.  

Do not give them anything.

did get VA State police supposed solicitation yesterday from this same #, they knew my name.  i hung up on them.  would love to be rid of these guys.

Same thing here, Va State Police scam. I only got ONE call so far. But I assure you, if I receive any more calls, each one will be documented and then reported to....The VIRGINIA STATE POLICE!

Too funny! Yes, I will call the State Police and complain from now on. I will probably end up calling the Richmond headquarters and work my way up. If I get annoyed, I will phone the Attorney Generls office as well. This needs to stop folks....and NOW.

I have been getting calls from this # 1800-670-4908 and i never happened to pick up the phone except once; i did not say nada. Then after a few seconds somebody came on the phone saying Hello and i could hear  people's noise in the background, usually that would be either marketing/scam or charity/asking for money call. Later i googled it and here i am updating info. Also i am bit careful nowadays because first it was 434-549-8038# asking for money for VA troopers and i stopped picking up the phone and now this 1800#, these guys may or may not be the same but surely i am not picking up either one of'em. Its very annoying.

Most calls asking for money for a police charity are scams.  They keep most of your donation.

Phone numbers are easy - use an auto-dialer and call them all.  I do wonder how they got the right name to go with your number.

Talked with these people saying they represent Virginia State Police fund wanting a donation and tried to talk military talk to me.  Only had the number 2 weeks but yet they knew my name and number.

I've rec'd 2 calls.  "unavailable" leaves no message.  I've been told these types of calls are usually sales/charity requests or bill collectors.

Got a call at 11:22 pm Sunday; As it was an 'unavailable' phone number, I didn't answer it; nonetheless, the phone ceased ringing after 3 rings, which typically rings as many as 8 times before it shuts off.  I am on the Do Not Call Registry as well as having an unpublished number.  Boggles my mind how these companies still get away with their lawbreaking behavior.  Performed some research & saw the 'unavailable' was 800-670-4908, but nothing more.

At least once a day,at least, I get a call from this number and the caller says nothing. Its becoming rather  anoying
