A Mr. Allen called me from this number today and was very demanding and degrading to me.  He made me give him my ss# and told me I will be arrested by tomorrow if I didn't pay my debt.  He even told me to "sit my butt down and shut up and write a check" to him, and if I didn't that I would be showering naked with other men in prison.  I'm only 19 years old, and I do have a little debt, but I can't pay it right now.  I've been saying "yes sir" to whatever he tells me to do. But I'm kind of scared and don't want to go to jail. Someone please help me?

This message is clearly from the collection agency itself.

Here's a news flash... Many "accounts" sent to collection agencies are claims that the alleged debtor DOES NOT OWE. Collection agencies use intimidation and harassment to force good people to give them money they don't owe.

Always remember, there is NO honor in the collection agency business. Collection agencies either (1) buy claims (valid or invalid) from businesses at a steep DISCOUNT (i.e., pennies on the dollar), or (2) charge businesses a fee for the service of harassing you. Any "deal" they make with you is NEVER a savings for you. If the collection agency buys a claims against you for 10% of its face value and then offer you a "deal" by reducing the claim to 80% of its face value, the collection agency just made a profit of 7 times the amount they paid for the claim!

The best course of action is to categorically refuse to deal with or even speak to collection agencies. Deal directly with the party who claims that money is owed.

999 times out of 1000 they will NOT sue you because they don't have even the most basic documentation to support the claims they are making. The best weapon against collection agencies is to IGNORE them!

Refusing to be lied to, refusing to pay money you don't owe and refusing to allow others to abuse or harass you does not make you a "cheat." The arrogance of this post is shocking. It's also eerily similar to the same lies and deceit used by this collection agency which are reflected in the posts you'll find on this web page.

If ACS calls me with one of these c***-and-bull stories, or continues to assert their bogus claim, I will definitely sue them. That's one of the nice things about being a lawyer. It costs me nothing to sue a harassing collection agency (I've done it three times before and won each time) but it costs them LOTS of time and money.

Assigned Credit Solution or "ACS" is a legit company.  I was an idiot and completely forgot about a bill I owed to a financial institution and they worked with me on a settlement.  The man I delt with was very polite and not the least bit rude.  These guys aren't scammers.  They're very helpful with getting things taken care of for me.

I am getting phone calls daily that says it is very important that I return this call.  I wasn't going to return the call from my cell phone thinking that could trigger something.  I called the number from another phone.  She could not tell me why she was calling unless I gave her my cell phone number. didn't do it.   If this is a bill collecter, I have no bills to be collected.  If this is a telemarketer, isn't this against the law? There is nothing I will buy, or no one that I will cooperate with that does this to me.

The same thing has been happening to me. I just called the number back and told them that they had been calling my new cell number. She asked me if I was so and so. Told her no and she said they would remove my number from the system. But you have to call them to have that happen. If you have a home land line, try calling from there.

Receiving many phone calls from this number 1-800-677-8277....Asking for a person who does not live at this number...I ask to have my number removed and told that it is not possible to remove your number it will need to be removed by the lawyer who has submitted a contract with them.

This person calling refused to give me any information of who is calling, or what it is in regards to...I do not have anything in collections. They were very rude!!!   I don't like to be treated like i am a piece of dirt under there feet....If they are going to be making these phone calls to someone they think lives here then they need to understand it should be in respect, the frustration on this end of the line is horrendous. ....I am sick and tired of them calling day and night...This is harassment!!

I typed the phone number into the computer url...and it says this is  "ACS"  a collection company.  How do you get them to stop calling you????

I have gotten a phone call (recording) everyday for about the last 3 weeks asking for someone who doesn't live here!  I am so tired of the calls, I finally called it and told them no one w/ that name lives here & take my number off their list.  The lady said they would, but was very snippy.  I asked what the company is that keeps calling, she rudely said, "Why does it matter, you are not her?"  I told her because she's calling my phone number!   In her rudest voice says, "You try and have a good day!" Ahhhh!  I was in shock that she was so rude!

What is wrong is the misrepresentation of who the Company calling is when the caller id does not say ACS, but "Legal Medical"? ACS is neither a law firm nor a Medical practice of any sort. The FCC, and the Attorney General office of NJ, will certainly get to the bottom of this, I'm sure. I also love the "I have a file on my desk...just want to hear your side of the story..." without leaving the name of the company being mentioned once. Failure to properly identify who they are and for leaving personal information regards the collection of debt is where this ACS is gonna have issues.

Most importantly I have a720 credit score these same people have called a bunch of my relatives in the same way I did call them they wont give there company info or explain what exactly you owe or what its for I say if they can't do that don't pay them. Do you know how easy it is to open a business with an 800 number pretty easy actually file for a license and po box or whatever address. There are so many scams out there better to be safe then sorry if they don't identify themselves or give specific legitimate info don't pay. So what are you saying"Annoyed" ,is that all the hard working, honest , tax paying americans should just stop paying their credit cards, and after 7 years they just go away magiacally. NOT!! Get real. They have a right to sell your debt, and the owner of the contract can collect on the full balance, and reserves the right to sue the account. "Bottomfeeders" are people who rack up credit cards, and never pay on them , then years later expect pennies on the dollar settlements. I wish I could spend my days sitting in court when you fools get sued. I've seen people wind up with Civil Judgments for credit cards all the time! Try getting that cell phone or appartment with your credit rating, and judgments on your public record. You'll run out of co-signers soon enough.

Yeah, "hazel Nut" you sound like a real stand up person. So let me get this right. You take out a credit card, max it out, buy say a "FLAT SCREEN TV" , and watch it everday but never pay the bill. Then after several months of non-payment, the creditor exhausts their efforts trying to communicate with you and hires a collection agency to collect on it.  The collection agency calls to try and collect and they are now all of the sudden "SCAMMERS"??? What a joke. The repo guy who comes to get your car is a SCAMMER TOO right??? Your just a loser who doesnt pay their bills. Grow up. If you owe $8,000, and they settle for $3,000.00 I'd call that help. If your minimum payments were $200 before and now they'll let you pay $50 a month, then yeah , thats definately HELP!... Collection agencies didnt make the bills- YOU GUYS DID! And you wanna string them along... pathetic. Try skipping a house payment. You'll end up in forclosure or evicted. Skip a few car payments , and you'll be walking soon enough! Cheers

"Another Free American" builds websites, then gets spooked b/c someone is inquiring about getting a site built?? Are you serious?? Looks like he didnt pay a bill, and his account was sent to collections with ACS. If you research the BBB, you'll see Chris Brad is the owner of Assigned Credit Solutions(A Collections Agency), and if anyone had the authority to negotiate an agreement to resolve a bill for possbile website designed, it would probably be the owner. DUH! What could the harm have been in talking with someone calling for you?? I dotn get it... Obviously "Another Free American" was reluctant b/c he clearly has some unresolved financial issues, and doesnt want to be burdened with having to face the realtiy of paying those obligations. How free are you??? A slave to contracts you willingly agreed to, yet failed to make good on. Listen, If someone is calling for me, sending me emails, etc and is saying it's important .. only a dummy would ignore those things, unless of coarse you are a "professional debtor" and make a living dodging creditors. Most people who want to scam you- dont call you directly to expose themselves. Why dont you try building a site for someone, and then delivering it, and then not getting paid on it! How would you feel??

This ACS will work with people. Low Settlement, and monthly payments. They will put arrangements in writing before you pay. Nothing fishy about them. I'm just tired of seeing all these people bad mouth collection companies, while hardworking, bill paying people like myself do everything to keep good on our committments. GROW UP!!!!!!!

How about you try calling him directly to figure out why he's trying to reach you if you "know for a fact" you have no student loans. Calling people idiots? Most collection accounts have social security numbers , w/payments history and such, so If you are concerned it may not be you, then address it so they can update their records and remove your info. Amazing how some people ignore it, but then waste time going to sites like this to write senseless posts and give people the wrong impression about a company. ACS is a COLLECTION AGENCY.

ACS is indeed a Collection Agency "Assigned Credit Solutions". They do handle "pre-legal" accounts where the client has every intention and right to sue the account. Calling you to pay your bill isnt a scare tactic, nor is it harrassment. Leaving messages w/relatives and associates when they cannot locate your information is allowable under FDCPA. Most people who complain about collections agencies DONT PAY THEIR BILLS!... Thus, they would'nt be hearing from company's like ACS in the first place. ACS will work with you to get you a LOW SETTLEMENT, or a PAYMENT PLAN. They have a right to call you if you are in collections. They also have a right to be persistent. These things are NOT harrasment.

Its a collection agency called ACS. (Assigned Credit Solutions) in Cherry Hill, NJ. If they are calling than that means you probably haven't paid one of your bills!! Seems like you ("perturbed") had a pretty good idea it was about a bill since you refused to give your last name. Yeah, you sound like a real stand up person. Why not give her your last name?? I don't understand. Why not just own up to the fact it was you?? What do you have to hide?? What could this lady really have done with your last name that she hasn't already. Apparently they already had all of your information anyway. How did they get it? Pick it out of a hat??  NO!!!!!!!!! You gave it to them on the application for credit!  Remember!?! If you moved or changed numbers, than they will track you down. I'm sure the PA Attorney Generals office did nothing because there was nothing to do. There are laws in place that BILL COLLECTORS cannot DISCLOSE YOUR PERSONAL INFO TO ANYONE OTHER THAN YOU, so IF YOU WONT ID yourself THAN they "CANT" TELL YOU WHAT ITS ABOUT!!! DUH!! It's a phone call about a BILL YOU OWE!! Own up to your responsibilities people! You agree to take loans, and credit, and know they charge interest and penalties, and will refer them to collections agencies etc. Why act so shocked when they call? That's what they are supposed to do. Take care of it because they can even sue you! I've done the research and I know this company will settle for a lot less or give you monthly payments. THEY ARE NOT A SCAM! They are a LEGIT COMPANY. Get your credit fixed.
