MacMail left a message on my voicemail saying that I had to call the above number regarding a purchase I had made from them. Problem is I had never heard of them and had not made a purchase....what they wanted was for me to verify my address. Sounds like some type of scam to me.

Similar experience: the phone messages were heavily garbled - but the problem was signal quality, her Asian accent was not difficult to understand. When I called back (after reading this page), got someone with a Mexican or South American accent - again no real difficulty in understanding them.

All they wanted was for me to confirm that I had placed an order w/ MacMall and my shipping address, no credit card info or anything. MacMall maybe has had some kind of problem with people ordering stuff and having it sent to a different address from the CC billing address.

Placed an order with MacMall (using AmEx) - got this call - thought it was a scam but they had the order number correct - I had received an email from MacMall with the order number and then another email telling me they were going to confirm the order via phone - then I got the sam call as everyone above - real strong accent - hard to understand - but I then called them and they did NOT ask for my card number - apparently I had given them my delivery address and the billing address was not the same (we use a different address box for our payables which AmEx uses as our billing address) - once that was corrected they approved and processed my order. All legit.... so far...

I got a voice mail message, woman with Asian asking me to confirm transaction that I had made that day at MacMall. When I called the number, the automated voice said it was Finance Services Group. It said there were no agents available and to call back, which I did about 15 times. Same thing every time. The people at my credit card company said that the transaction had been approved, and that they had not called me.

I got a call today from an Asian (very strong foreign accent) regarding an order on American Express for MacMall from Alexandria VA.    I do not know anyone that lives in Alexandria VA, nor do I have an American Express Card.

Like Matt, found this to be a credit card transaction service.  In my case, it was a valid contact.
