This is for suspicious activity on a Shell card. I have an RV and so with the limits, need to use it three times in a row to fill the tank. They called me from this number to verify those transactions were legitimate because it does look strange. I like having this fraud protection service but I agree they should say it's Shell calling and not just this is not a telemarketing call.

Call asked to call them back in reference to my gas card which they correctly identified. Call came three hours after I gassed up.

It was a LEGIT call from Shell.  Wanting to verify transactions (son stops there every day to either fill up or buy a water/juice/sports drink).  They were able to give me MY information.  Were concerned with several small transactions being made daily.  No problems once everything was verified.  Got everyone's name and wrote down time of day of call.  Also department number (Fraud Department).

Thats wise.

Call the phone number on the back of your credit card or on your statement.  Do not call the number that called you.

(Garbled) Automated message left on my cell saying my credit may have been compromised. Based on these postings and the info from my husband, it sounds like it may have been a legitimate call. The same day I received the call I had changed our zip code on our Shell card to our new address. My husband did not know this and then tried at two stations to pump gas and entered in our old zip - and was declined. I don't plan on calling the number back as I don't give out personal info to third party vendors, which is obviously what this company is. If I thought my credit had been compromised, I would contact my credit companies directly.

No way do I think this number is legit because the number that they called is a brand new number automatically generated from a website so no name is associated with it.  Therefore, they cannot possibly be calling ME about anything because they don't even know who they're calling.

I had a missed call from this number( I changed it 2 years ago), so I returned the call. First, the automated message came up, repeated my phone number back to me, then asked for the last four of mt social (which I gave erronously.)  Second, the message for my account number
( which I don't have), so I waited until a rep came on the line. The first rep informed me that my zip code was put in wrong twice while attempting to pump gas. I quickly informed her that I don't have an account with shell ( this is the company they identified they were) she sounded slightly alarmed that I didn't have an account, then transferred me to' Becky'. 'Becky' could not verify any information on this account ( not even my name!) So I asked to be transferred to a supervisor, then 'Gail' got on the line, she ask me to re-verify my name, phone number, and social. THEN, I repeated everything (including my social) and she told me that she could not pull up anything in reference to any account with the exception of my phone number. She explained  that occasionally there are customers who don't update their info and that maybe it was just a case of and old number on file. I informed her that I have had this number for 2 years and she says " You have no idea how many times we try to impress upon customers to update their info" ( I'm paraphrasing).  After, she asked me for the phone number that called me and listened in on the conversation as I went step by step through as I had previously. As I waited for a rep to come on the line, I said 'hello' just to see if she was still on the line, but there was no answer. Just then, the hold music stops and some one named Daniel with a southern accent comes on the line, saying that he is form the fraud department and he needs me to verify my account info.  I brought him up to speed as to why I didn't feel comfortable to give out my info  once again by telling him of my plight thus far. He sounded empathetic but informed me that he would not be able to give me answer unless I verified some info. After complying, I was told that there was account in my name and that the only thing that this account and myself had in common is the phone number.  He informed me to check my credit file just in case something has happened, then I, in turn, informed him that I will keep his name and everyone else I spoke with on file and that if I have any problems that I will be contact him back.  I pray everything is well I really don't want to have to take any unnecessary steps.

They said it was about my Sears credit card.  The electronic recording asked for the last four digits of my card number.  I gave them the wrong 4 digits, but when a person finally came on the line, they knew my phone number and the correct credit card number.  I still gave them no information.  He said my card was compromised, and they wanted to send out a new card.  I said OK.  This seems like a legitimate fraud hotline, but I still don't trust anybody who contacts me by phone.

fraud task force...call your card main customer help line first to validate, then have them transfer you to the fraud unit; never give out/validate your # if you don't know who is on the end of the line; regardless of how legit they sound.
