It's not a scam. It is OptiumRX and I was waiting for an approval! Asked about the caller ID, was told because of HIPPA they do not show their name. It does make sense, most drug and medical companies do the same thing.

For once, this actually was a legitimate phone call from a 1899 number! I was frankly so surprised I almost fell out of my chair! The call was from AARP, who manages my medicare and they were calling to let me know that I had received a preauthorization for a prescription I had been waiting for. Amazing!

Thanks for the info. I was waiting for a "Prior Approval", but when theuy said "press one" and didn't respond, I began to worry. It would have been nice if they would have mentioned Medicare part D, or my Doctor, or insurance company, or the pharmacy that submitted the request.

This is Optum Rx the specialty pharmacy for United Healthcare

They left a message saying they're "Optum Rx" and my prescription had been approved. I have no plan with Optum Rx; and I didn't recognize the phone number, so I thought this was a fraudulent telemarketer trying to take advantage of seniors, but it turned out to be a message from my Medicare Part D insurer telling me that a very expensive drug that just went generic had been approved for coverage. I know this is because my pharmacy called me moments later to tell me I'm getting a refund. Hallelujah!

It's a switch board through United Health Care. I just missed a call from them only to call back and get re-routed through to one of my doctor's lines.

Thanks Phoebe for the information. Normally I just block such calls but this one had a modicum of legitimacy to it especially because a message was left, however unrecognizable. Going to 800 Notes has been a real bonus for me thanks to the blogs left by people who have been harrassed by telemarketers.
whoever keeps the site up needs a lot of thanks. Especially because "free" really means "free" All those other "free" info stations are totally bogus and they need to be FRIED.

Thank you so much for explaining this. I would have never picked it up if I had not read this...I still may not, they really need to work on that caller ID name, but at least I know where it's coming from now and don't have to think it's another scam caller.

This is the prescription division of United HealthCare(AARP) that handles MedicareComplete Part D.They may also cover other medical plans, but I'm not really sure about that. If you are prescribed a drug(especially newer, more expensive ones) by your doctor, Medicare may question the use of this drug if there are cheaper alternatives that will work for you.You usually get a letter from your insurance company detailing the steps you need to take to get the drug approved. When the drug is approved or denied, you wil get a call from this number. It's all legit.I just wish caller ID would list the company name instead of "Toll Free Call".

left message to call 8662407070 about being approved for medical script. I doubt that.

Call went to answering machine or it wouldn't have been answered. Annoying message about my approval coming in for something.

Another annoying automated message. Hung up quick, didn't wait to find out what company it was.
| Shelley 2012-02-10 20:27:32 Unknown |
Automated message said something about a prescription being approved. No company name. Didn't ask for one of us by name.

Missed call, did not leave message.
