They identified themselves as a debt collection company and wanted me to identify myself with my SSN and home address. I said I don't give that information out over the phone and she said all debt collectors are supposed to request it before sharing information. Then I said they could send a bill and she said they already had, but wouldn't tell me for what. No thanks.

After talking to The Billing Dept. Supervisor at Kaiser about the letter I rec'd from this company, she confirmed USCB IS their collection agency and has used them for years. When I tried to describe the way I was treated and USCB not having any details on the bill THAT I HAD ALREADY PAID, she said she didn't care how USCB dealt with me or what they told us in order to get the debt paid. I said she should for this is a face of Kaiser who already has a bad reputation for lax care, faulty systems, horrible communication, bad followup, etc. USCB has no information on what the debt is for, just date and amount, so could not mail me or email me a copy of the original charge but expected me to whip out my credit card to take care of this. My bill was from May 2010 and it was now May 2012. Kaiser said they mailed me 5 consecutive bills to collect this but I didn't get one of them until this letter came 2 yrs. later. But I did get USCB's letter @ the right address plus test results and Doctor's letters from Kaiser! How does that happen?

Good Luck all of you who are encountering this same problem! It took me half a day to get to the right person at Kaiser to discuss this. I say call Billing Dept. @ Kaiser to let them know what your experience with USCB was and prove that you already paid the bill. They then will call USCB and have them remove this from your record. Say something, though, for that is the ONLY WAY THINGS CHANGE!!!

total scam. If you go to their paynow website, it looks like a 15yr old made it. The parent site is still underconstruction. They called me asking for 34 bucks from a medical lab which was billed in 2009. I called the lab & my insurance; my insurence doesn't track payments from that lab. And the lab is now closed. I told them that and "to the best of my knowledge the debt was previously settled" I ended the call with, if you ever call me again, i'm suing you for harrassment. I haven't gotten a phone call since.

called and had my name asking for my address, she said "this is alicia from uscb, can i have your address for identification purposes?" i asked what her company does, she replied that she could not tell me unless i verified my address. so i said i'm not comfortable giving out that information to someone that i don't know. she replied ok goodbye... funny. i do have an outstanding medical bill maybe it's real... odd though that they don't want to tell me what it is that they do. i suppose if they had said "i'm a debt collector calling in regards to "this medical bill" and i need your address to send you your bill. i would have given it to her...

This number has called me saying they are trying to collect payment on something that is delinquent.  I have nothing that is past due that needs to be paid.  It appears to be a scam.  They left 2 different numbers.  855-233-6432 and 800-720-6570.  I looked up both numbers and it appears many people have been contacted by them.  I am blocking both numbers!

Yes they are a debt collection agency and they collect for Kaiser.  Kaiser gives them incorrect information!!  They've had me in collections for 2 years now due to a worker's comp accident where my job sent me to Kaiser.  They finally stopped calling me though!

Berkeley is NOT in Southern California, it's in Northern California, across the bay from San Francisco. Can understand confusion with UCSB (University of California Santa Barbara). Berkeley is called "UC Berkeley" (University of California at Berkeley) or UCB.

Regardless, they called my husband's work and just said it was important. I think they are a collection agency for Kaiser Hospital. I'm pretty sure I dealt with this very same company. Kaiser isn't providing them with accurate information, and there seems to be no way to stop the cycle.

They tried to get thru by saying they were looking for my sister, the USCB had me for a second, because she is looking into online courses, and most of the references to USCB had to do with univ. of southern cal/berkeley.  Glad I was patient and found this when I searched the 800 number, many thanks for posting this!

Received a message on my phone this evening from 'Patty'. She said she was from USCB calling on a "business matter", and I was to call 800-720-6570.
I called the number and got a taped message saying they were "USCB" and their office was closed. Their hours were 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
I left a message saying I had received a message from 'Patty" and would try again in the morning. I did not leave my phone number.
Note: I am on the National DO NOT CALL list.

I got the same message just today on my home phone.  A lady by the name of Kathy called and left a message with my husband stating that it was URGENT that I returned the call to 800-720-6570 so I called and they wanted me to give them my SSN.  I asked them what was the purpose of their call and this Kathy lady declined to give me any information until I gave her my SSN.  I told her I'm not giving my SSN to any company that I don't know and told her to NOT call me ever again and hung up.

Only the the nice male voice's name was provided along with, of course, the 'phone number.

I'll call from a pay 'phone just to cost them, whoever they are, some money.

I got a call from some lady from USCB stating that I owed 600 dollards to Penn Foster from 2006 which I paid off and had the proof. They called me and didn't tell me much about them and were rude and almost demanded money. I talked to the same lady twice and she told me that they had sent me several letters and that this collection was already posted to my credit reports. I finally called back and asked for a supervisor because the lady was so rude. they told me I could do a settlement for 300 dollars and it would be done with. The lady also told me that they actually only sent me two and I asked her to re send those letters to me and I have yet to receive them and I have not heard from them again. TOTAL SCAM!

This people has started calling my cell. I never answer calls from 800 numbers or blocked ID's. When the call goes to the voice mail they dont leave a message. I called back from another line since they have ways to recognize the number your calling from even if you block it as well.
Based on what I heard when i called, it is in fact a collection agency called USCB (http://www.uscbinc.com) based in California(L.A & Sacramento) mostly working with medical billing/debt.
As far i am aware I do not owe any medical bills so either they keep calling me in error or its part of a phishing scam

Thanks for the info Bjornboy.  I paid an outstanding debt of $25 from Kaiser to this company many months ago via phone.

The guy helping me confirmed payment and indicated that he would call if something didn't post correctly.

Never a call until now.  They have communication/record keeping issues!

I have bank statements as proof though.

They handle collections for Kaiser Permanente.

Problem is, Kaiser doesn't keep them in the loop on payments made towards deductibles, and they don't always pay attention to Kaiser.  Case in point, mine...met deductible in March 2008, and am getting notices on "debt owed" from April 2008 dfor $40.  Kaiser withdrew the debt; UCSB is still trying to collect it, and is now threatening my credit rating.

This is going to be fun.
