It is M&T Bank. They bought my equity loan from Bank of America (who bought it from the originating mortgage lender)... and that was a couple years ago. After looking up the number on here (because they left no voice mail!!), I call them back and get re-directed to the insurance department. Now, keep in mind, my equity loan is not escrow (I pay the insurance and taxes separately). I have never needed to provide insurance information. But, apparently, after a couple years, they decide they needed proof. This isn't a big deal ... except for the efforts I had to make to even find out who was calling me... then to call my agent so she can fax the info... what a pain in the @#$&% ... Seriously.. smh ....
(I did give them a lecture for not leaving a voice mail ...but, I doubt it will do any good)

You cannot collect a dime. If these callers, trying to collect fake debts, are calling from foreign countries - how do you sue? You can't & don't. Best action, ask for proof of debt in writing, by US Mail.

Hello folks, I have been a Private Investigator for 15 years and have seen and heard of these a lot. First off if you owe money to one of these strange callers they maybe collectors. If I may please let me tutor you. According to the government website www.ftc.gov they have information on how to deal with collection agencies and trust me you could even win money for taking time to collect all their calls to you and placing a cease and desist on them, and if they were to continue you could win $1000 plus court cost.
Secondly you simply tell them that they are third party creditors and you will not be speaking to them, that you prefer to speak only to a registered agent of the first company.
Thirdly and most frightening is when you do call back and no one answers you could be being scammed by way of calling them back and your number is being trapped by a electronic quizmo that allows others to use your time on your phone. You should look into this.
Fourthly with all smart phones these days you can go into the LOG and see who called and long press that number and when you do there will be an option for blocking that number.
Fifth and last, a lot of call that you may get are companies that are out of Arizona, California just about anywhere, so if you do recognize the number don't answerm
Good luck and Godbless you, I hope this helps.

I have been getting calls from them for over 4 months. They consistently ask for Jose rodriguez. I am not him. I have told them about ten times "I am not him, please take me off the call list!" This last time (1/24/2013 9:00pm) Cory, the a***ole on the phone, said "I'll take you off the list." Then hung up on me. The next morning a***ole Cory called me again. I answered and he hung up on me. I seriously want to press charges for harassment. I called back and left a message with Cory stating this was harassment. They call me from several different numbers, including (866) 820-4038. Please any advice would help me. Thank you, I feel your pain.

They called me today and left a message saying, "hello, hello, hellloooooo." Lately they have called every month and I never have been late on my mortgage so I wish they would stop bugging me!
quinncreative 2012-08-06 20:11:06 Unknown
They didn't know my name and asked my my address. If they are my mortgage holder, shouldn't they know that? They then asked me if I am still employed. When I asked why they needed to know that, they hung up. It's the number of customer service from M&T bank, but it sure doesn't sound very professional to me.

Sooooo, THAT's who it is! I just refinanced with them! Too bad they are scummy. The rates were great, though. I'll let them know that they can't just call me like this. Sheesh. Thanks

I am so sick of this number calling and hanging up. Can you do anything sbout it or do you just log complaints?

My mortgage was also sold to M&T by Bank of America. I sometimes pay after the 1st, but ALWAYS within the grace period. Since the switch I have received this annoying call daily and they are calling it a "reminder" call. Do you really need my payment five days sooner? They never leave a message. I had enough of it today, so I called back and spoke to a rep.
If you want to get the calls to stop, you can request it via fax.
ATTN: Customer Service to 866-409-4642
Hope this helps someone else. They are engaging in a ridiculous practice and it needs to stop. Hopefully it will after I send this fax.

My husband and I have experienced the same thing for the past 2 months. Our loan was just sold to them. Send a faxed letter to 716.635.4800 Attn: Homeowners Assistance, and demand that they no longer contact you via phone. This will add a block to your account from phone calls. Good luck!

Great I am a new customer because half of my 80/15 my mortgage was just sold to them. Based on the comments I am going to be getting regular calls. I forgot that I could pay B of A only thru November 16 so I just spent 30 minutes on hold/being transferred at M & T trying to figure out how to pay them today so I would not have a late fee. I'd assumed there would be info in the notice but when I went through it they just have the coupon to be mailed. I finally figured it out and registered online but now I am going to take these complaints as a sign to refinance elsewhere since the rates are low.

My Bank of America Home Mortgage Loan was just sold to M&T in the past couple weeks and we've already made the first payment, well before the due date. Got a call last night just before 7 and when I picked up an automated message said something like: "We're sorry, but all of our agents are currently busy assisting other customers. Please wait on the line and the next available representative will be with you shortly".
Come on. First, don't call me when nothing's wrong and second, don't put me on hold when YOU call ME. Bad first impression.

1-800-724-2224 has called my house at least 3 times a day for the past 2-3 days. I finally answered the 1-800 number. It was M&T And they asked for me or my wife by name. told them speaking. Then asked for my mailing address to confirm they were talking to me...lol I told them I wasn't going to give them that besides you called me and I told you who I was so ya must have the right person. and if this was something important. they said yes. Tell me what it is they said no not till i give my address to confirm it was me. Told them I guess I'l just stop at the bank Thursday to see what is so important.

I have a 15 day grace period on my M&T 20 year mortgage now in year 16. I've never missed a payment or have had a late payment for the last 16 years. I always pay the mortgage in the middle of the grace period. Over the last 8 months they call constantly after the 1st of the month. They are trying to get me to pay earlier but I don't have to, legally, and I won't. Pity they were a good bank to deal with 16 years ago. Also over the past 3 years, every year, they screw up my proof of insurance. My insurance agent doesn't like them either... I should march down to my LOCAL bank and kiss them goobye...
Mick 2011-06-06 20:58:19 Unknown
They call but there is never anyone there when you answer. I believe it is M & T Bank.
TR 2011-06-06 20:58:19 Unknown
Called at 8:02AM, Hung up when I answered, have called previously and left no message. If this is M&T bank why do they hang up when I pick up the phone?
baltobikeboi 2011-05-16 21:50:12 Unknown
Same thing as above. We took out a residential improvement loan. They call if you've not paid by their expected date, even though they grant you a grace period... Oh, and even though they can't seem to f-ing mail your statement until the 1st of the month. I called them to complain - which is hard to do because the number is a deadend number basically - so I called their loan servicing. Thing is they told me "Gee Mr. X, you're correct! You've NEVER been late and been paying your other loans on time! We shouldn't be calling you. We'll take your number off that list." And lo and behold today they called again (May the 16th - I made payment on the 13th, immediately it came out of my MTB checking account btw - so WTF is going on). Now my pissy point is this - my spouse then says to me "Why is MTB calling? Didn't you pay the mortgage?" That's what they don't get. If I'm on time I'M ON TIME - STAY THE ____ OUTTA MY BUSINESS thank-you very much. So what to put this call under - it's not telemarketing - can we please have a category for HARASSMENT?
pa 2011-03-04 00:37:21 Unknown
Same thing here.. no message left.. you know my mortgage was just sold to them.. My last mortgage company for 13 years....NEVER.. called me. Dont tell me that this company is notorious for this telemarketing garbage.. I have only had them for 1 week total.. Not good... I do know that telemarketers are known to not leave messages... Plus when I called them back I was informed that they are closed..since 7 pm. and I received a call from them at 730 pm. Bad bank..
Dale 2011-02-16 15:13:12 Unknown
The said it was M&T. I called and got an automated phone system, with no obvious choice that pertained to me.
cessa 2010-12-16 11:46:15 Unknown
This stupid place has called one of my phones numerous times, each time either hanging up, not leaving a message or when my husband asks to have our number removed from their call list because we have no affiliation with them, they do not do so. . . my turn.
Tom 2010-02-18 00:36:36 Unknown
Said she was from M&T Bank and called me by mistake.
john 2009-06-22 17:36:28 Unknown
M&T hold my mortgage, payment is due on the 1st but has a 15 day grace period, they start calling on the 10th demanding payment. If I am not home they call my house 10 times a day and never leave a message. I think its a little out of hand.
Mark 2009-04-22 20:51:21 Unknown
they call us and there is nobody there. they call about every 3 hours. if we hang up on them they call right back-and when we answer, there is no one there. they are getting so annoying and time robbing.the calls need to end.
2much 2009-01-22 14:02:37 Unknown
Same here, been calling for days, anytime from 7:00 AM till 9:00PM, when answered they hang up, not sure why a bank would do this but it is quite irritateing when you work nights. going to send an email https://services.mandtbank.com/customerservice/email.cfm and tell them to stop calling, here is their main service number 1-800-724-2440. what if we all swamped that number with a few thousand calls per day, maybe we can waist some of their time and money payied to their employees,as they seem to think its OK to call and bother people so lets return the favor. =0)

800-724-2224 called me twice (so far) today; I missed the first one, and the second one rang only once. I'm not an M&T customer; what's up?
George Jungle 2009-01-14 16:42:44 Unknown
Same thing happens to me M & T bank calls and when you answer they hang up. Maybe they're trying to see if the number is still active. My account is up to date with them. Telemarketing ???
Bob 2008-06-16 23:30:53 Unknown
M&T Bank, left no message.
