got a call from this number twice in 2 days.  Foreign accent so heavy you could hardly understand what was being said.  After many repeats, what we got out of these calls was that they were offering to help us with our "Windows Computer Problem".  After trying to get them to explain who they were and other information on them they call ended with their last words of "F... you you a..hole".

Bottom line.  They wanted us to give them internet access to our computers.  What a load of BS.

They called me too. I played with the caller for about 5 minutes. "If you're from Microsoft, what version do I have" Answer "any version". etc. Finally, I asked him "What does it feel like to make a living scamming people" Answer "What".

Then I got bored and hung up.

Same as above; a guy who seemed to have Indian accent and said he is from windows. He even knew my name and wanted my address!!! When I tried to refuse, he started cussing and threatened me.

Talk to your kids not to give private info away.

Isn't there a way to track this number and see where it actually coming from?

Received call from this number today, 9/2/13 about 1pmEDT. I stayed on the call (male with Indian accent) in order to determine the ploy. After getting me to run the windows event manager, displaying errors, he tried to get me to run a web address that I'm sure is designed to detect unprotected CC numbers and other sensitive information. At that point I told him to take me off his call list to which he replied: "I want to f**k you." I spent several minutes exchanging graphic insults with him, and I WON! It actually upset him.  He kept asking "why are you laughing?" He wasn't very good at The Dozens so I got bored and hung up.  People: if someone calls you out of the blue and tells you that you have a computer problem and they want to help you, they are lying. They are crooks. Don't do anything they ask, but DO try to annoy them more than they annoy you!

I just got a call from this number from an Indian-accented man saying he had to talk to me about my Windows computer. We're an all-Mac house but even if we weren't I would have hung up on him. Worries me that this group preys on older people like in the reply above this one.

'He' called my elderly mother. She manages email and some internet on her computer, but gets confused easily. So he calls, and he gives her the 'bad things on your computer' story, and she believes him! She is apparently following his directions when I happened to call her. She took it on call waiting. She explained that she was on the phone with Microsoft and the man was helping her fix a problem. It took a few minutes for me to figure out that HE had called HER, so I told her to hang up immediately. So she puts me on hold, and is gone for minutes. I realized she must still be talking to him, so I hung up and called her cell phone. She was so confused. She was telling him that her daughter was telling her to hang up (oy gevalt), and discussing it with him! And he was telling her that no, she had to stay on the line or terrible things would happen to her computer. What balls! I FINALLY got her to hang up and got her to call my brother, the computer wiz. He told her to immediately unplug the computer, take out the battery, and get the computer to Best Buy ASAP. She did -- the Microsoft had indeed gotten her to disable some security software! Best Buy repaired it, but the story doesn't end there. They called back the other day -- she hung up. Then yesterday he called back, and back again each time she hung up. She asked 'what do you want?' and he said 'Money'. She told him he wasn't getting any --- can't believe she's actually conversing with this guy! Hangs up, and he calls again. My father answers -- same thing again. FINALLY they take the phone off the hook. When I heard this I made them call the police. The police said it wasn't in their jurisdiction and gave her the number of the FBI. She called them, and they advised her to hang up then leave the phone off the hook for a while. If it didn't stop, she could call the Federal Trade Commission. Comeon! They got all those damn phone records! Why can't they use them to protect poor aging US citizens from scams like this!

They said the same thing that that others have said, that my computer was infected and needed me to turn it on. I said where are you calling from and he said Windows.... I said no thank you good bye and then he's says "Fu** You" I said excuse me! He then says "I want to "Fu** You" I pretended to hang up by hitting mute. He just kept saying hello, hello are you there and then after about 20 seconds he hung up. Definitely had an Indian accent. Should i call the police?  Super scary!

I got a call from this number yesterday, 5 times. They never answered! Then they called again this morning! This time I talked to a woman and man from India. They stated that they were from Micro Soft Windows technical department. They had a report that there was a warning about my computer having a mal ware and spy ware virus. They wanted me to bring up my computer so they could show me what file was infected. I told them no, what is the name of this so called file. The man told me the file name was p**sy. All along I knew this was a scam for them to hack into anyone's computer that they could get to fall for this. I told him if he dares to call me back, I will report him to the authorities. I called my phone carrier and told them about this number and how I wanted it blocked from my phone and for them to run a trace on it. They told me they can't block 800 numbers and I would have to contact my local police department and ask them to run a trace on the call. I am posting this in hopes of helping the public and not having anyone become a victim of this crime.

My guy, who barely spoke English, said he was from "Windows" calling about my computer.  I asked how he knew I had a computer and what made him think I had Windows.  He said he had my name and registration number (all our stuff is registered in my DH's name).  He said Windows has been monitoring my computer and it has problems.  I asked why out of all the millions of Windows users in the world he had picked me to call.  He said I wasn't the only one.  I told him I was impressed that Windows was going to ensure that every single user in the world received a personal phone call, with sarcasm virtually dripping.  Then I told him he was a lying, scumbag, SOB who should be ashamed to draw breath and he should lose my phone number.  I hung up and he had the audacity to call back.  I let it go to voicemail and he apparently declined to leave a msg.

I had the same situation, female caller with heavy accent. She kept saying 'hello, can you hear me?' Once she realized that I was on the line, she continued to tell me how my computer had major issues involving errors as well as viruses but I couldn't see them. When I asked her how she could see them, my question didn't faze her. She simply kept talking about going to a web site so I could see the errors. She was oblivious to what I was asking her so I simply hung up.

You have so many facts wrong that I don't know where to begin.  Still, I'll try.

The vision you have in your head of how the telephone system works is obsolete.  These callers don't have landlines with a traditional telco.  They are using one of thousands of VOIP providers, scattered about the world.  Some, like CallerID4U specialize in these callers.  But if you wiped all of these callers from the face of the universe, it wouldn't alter your phone bill.

No one offered a million dollars.  The government offered a paltry $50,000.00 .  If you would read the forum articles here, instead of hanging out on crazy conspiracy web sites, you would have seen it discussed in detail.

I realize nothing is going to change your conspiratorial world view, so I suggest you ignore me, and to make better use of your time, go outside and wrap your car engine up in aluminum foil to keep the engine hot enough to ignite di-hydrogen monoxide. Then use your garden hose to fill the fuel tank.  Nothing like getting 500 miles per tankful, running on nothing but water.  Just remember, di-hydrogen monoxide (the secret substance contained in water that the oil companies don't want you to know about) can be dangerous.  On average, roughly 3500 people per year die from inhaling it.

I have come to the theory that the phone companies are not working with the Do not call registery because they make money. Just think about it if we took all these phones down I bet our bills would increase.  And when you look at your phone bill it has taxes on it so its a win win for everyone but the us the phone owners.  I heard someone was offering a million dollars to anyone that could come up with and idea that would stop these and robo calls.  Nothing else looks like its gone the way of the 60 miles per gallon of gas car.

Got a call from "MicroSoft"-this guy could barely speak English-asked if he was calling from India or Bangledesh-replied "calling from MicroSoft." Said my computer had been infected due to a satellite malfunction. I said odd-I have fiber Optic, no satellite. Asked him how the weather was in Mumbai, told him he had called NORAD.l He hung up. Douche.

Woman called this morning and said she was with Microsoft.  She wanted to talk to my about my computer.  I told her that I wasn't interested in anything she had to say.  She insisted that this was NOT a scam call!  I hung up on her.  I am so sick of getting these types of calls!! Also tired of getting someone from  616 area code about my credit card interest rate.  Where is the National Do Not Call Registry?  I have all my numbers registered and turn in such calls but to NO avail!!!!!

I received a call from this number, Indian woman saying she was windows from Windows Tech dept. she tried to get me to make changes to my computer. (At least that was the impression I got). I asked for a website within MicroSoft where I could go to learn about the supposed issue and asked for the name of the virus. She would not provide either.
