800-727-1167

These people call me daily, twice a day. Give a story that I owe on a credit card. Problem. I don't have any credit cards. Even after I tell them I do not have any credit cards. They continue to call, so I quit taking their calls. What I think is they charged something to an old card number, and now they want me to pay for it. This falls under scam. The phone company should disconnect these people, because it is real clear to me that someone running this phone scheme is "crooked". 1 800 727 1167 needs to be disconnected. I even signed a paper, that I did not have a credit card. The calls continue. Driving me bonkers. But one thing is certain, I am not sending any money anywhere, so they need to quit calling.

I called back, it was Nationwide Credit Card Services. The guy I talked to was pretty nice, I would suggest just calling to figure out what they want and then they will leave you alone.

Number 800-727-1167 calls me everyday, all day. It is to the point of harassment. How can we make them stop calling? I'm registered on the do not call list, just updated a few weeks ago.

These guys call me 7-8 times a day every day for the past 2 weeks. I called back and got the same BS response many others have - wanting my name (ok, I gave them that) my Date of Birth (no) or my last 4 of my SSN ( uh... HELL no). The guy was a real a***ole that I spoke with. I asked why do you keep calling me? he said I cannot discuss any thing without you verifying your account. I said what account. He said your Citicard. I said which one? Give me an account number." He said no, I cannot do that. I said and you expect me to give YOU an account number? I think not. He said Ok fine then we will just keep calling you all day everyday. What a dick! Thank you "reject list" on my phone!

If you answer the phone in any other way except a sleepy hello they will hang up without identifying themselves. Very bad business practice. It's credit card services for several different companies, the person who answers is told to lie that they have no idea what card is being called upon until you verify information. Don't fall for it. In my case, I was told it was for Advanta, which made me believe it was definitely a fraudulant zombie debt collector trying to throw something against the wall and seeing what sticks. They also handle Nationwide. They handle a lot of cards. Don't bother talking to these people, call up your credit card company to talk to someone who's actually employed by them, not a third party outsourced party. If they get insistent, write a cease and desist letter. If they get really insistent, hire an attorney. They will attach someone else's debt to you without a second thought.

If u have a credit card and have not made your payments...this would be why your recieving calls from this number

Hi All -
PLEASE READ - This is not a scam call, however it does come across as one... Something they need to get better on.
I was ignoring these calls, but finally called them back. The lady asked for my credit card number, which I did not give her. She said the company contracts out with a lot of credit card processing companies as a notification service for late payments.
Important! You can give them other information for them to look up your account, such as your phone number (which they already have), name and last four of SSN (which isn't going to do them much good without the other half if it was a scam).
Turned out that my credit card company was using them to get in touch with me. The billing address for the cc company changed and it was not reflected on my bill pay, so payments were getting there late.
After talking with them, later in the day I got another call saying they were Card Services calling on behalf of my credit card company, which they used by name. This made me feel a little better as well.
I contacted my card company, got it squared away, notified them that the service they are using to notify customers is coming across a little 'shady', but got everything squared away.
As always, play it safe - Don't give out too much personal info, ask if there's other info you can give them, and find out what it's regarding.

They are a phishing company who tries to get you to give personal info. Do NOT give them any information.

Do you work for them? They are a phishing company, period.

This is a phishing company. After constant harassment and requests for personal info (which I did not give them) I reported them in the past (about 10-12 mos ago) to the FCC and FBI. They just started calling my cell & home phone again this past week. They pretend to be from ETrade Bank, but when I called ETrade in the past (using the number on my credit card) they stated that there are NO problems with my account whatsoever & that this company is not legit. What I cannot figure out Is why they are still in "business"! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO!!!!

You may want to check your credit history. Had that happen to me ... wound up with accounts in California - never lived there. You could be the victim of ID theft - good idea to check. Good luck.

Wanted me to give them my full name, DOB, last 4 SS, Mother's maiden name, etc before they would tell me who they were calling for. I refused to give them the information and they refused to tell me anything about why they were calling

Calls come in early morning and afternoons. I don't know who they are but I told them to stop calling but the calls still persist. I reported to the Do No Call Registry. When answering machine picks up the call no message is left they just hang up.

It may be a legit company however, their business practices have many people assuming they are not a legit company. I have no past due bills, I do not own a credit card. I have a mortgage and a car payment that have been paid in a timely manner since I had them. The car has one payment left and will be paid off. I have never owned a credit card nor bought anything by mail. When I call this number back they swear I have a credit card. They refuse to give me an address associated with the account or the full name associated with the account. I have asked them repeatedly to remove my number from their list if they are not willing to tell me the bill I "supposedly" owe and they refuse to. I then called the consumer protection agency. After following the steps provided by them this company stopped calling me. I don't now if they are legit or not but I do know the information they claim to have associated with my phone number is a joke. They are rude and unprofessional. Either provide me with the information needed if you expect me to pay a bill that is "supposedly" mine or stop calling. What a joke.

After seeing so many different responses here, I decided to check this out, plus I'm pretty good at not taking people's BS. So I called this number back, they said "what's your account number?" I said, "for what?" Then they said "don't know, we deal with several cards (from my research later on, they deal with Newport News, Eddie Bower, and Spiegel)." So that asked me my name or phone # so they could find my account. They asked for my last 4 of my SSN to verify my ID (which scared me a little, but at least I didn't have to give them the whole thing). Then they said, 'okay, I see this is your Newport News account and it looks like you are one payment past due (which I am)." So I knew they were legit, but I said "I'd like to call them directly" and they understood. So I called the number where my payments get sent (which I only have through my bank's billpay system, the way I send payments). After dealing with my account, they confirmed that the number above is also legit, and basically their hands are tied for security reasons (can't leave messages, and can't help you until you give them a way to look up your account).
