I would like to remove my number from this list.  How do I do that?

Caller ID said "Toll Free Call." If this was from a legit charity like the Salvation Army (as some folks have said in this forum) why didn't they say who they are when they called instead of hiding behind "Toll Free Call?" If they posted their name on caller ID I might be inclined to answer the phone...

Salvation Army showed up on the landlady's caller ID. They must be in hard-sell mode if they have to go hitting up non-customers for money.

I agree.  I give to charities, I must have given to someone who called in the past, now every charity in the world has my number.  Now, I will never ever give to anyone who calls my house.  They (the charities) call my house daily.  I am so sick of the phone ringing with these beggars.  They shoot themselves in the foot giving my number out.  I will never give anything to anyone who calls me

Please give to the Salvation Army. There CEO makes $13.000 a year. Google it if you like. All the rest of the organization pay there CEO ton of money.

My solution to such callers who CID a name as " Unavailable " is to block the name " Unavailable" on my
block any name, any numbers type Call Blocker.

Yo ! dirtbag... I'm " Unavailable, " too, so my phone never rang when you called... you're blocked.

And, I'm calling such CID names as scammers looking to score.  After all, a real business has a real name.

I called the number back and you need to press SIX to be removed.  They will ask you for the number you want removed and they will remove you!  

I don't know where some people are coming up with a different number to call to be removed...I did not get that on the recording.

The Salvation Army is considered to be a charity and, therefore, they are permitted to call.  Charities, politicians and businesses with which you have a relationship do not fall under the DNC regulations.  Too bad about the politicians!

I feel the same way, I believe in supporting charities, but my name has been given to every charity that exists and the number of calls I get is unbelievable.  If you don't answer they continue to call you day after day, sometimes multiple times a day.  
There should be a way this can be stopped.  I get emails and snail mail from these people it;s not necessary to get annoying phone calls too.

So, now, no one gets anything from me anymore.  They ruined it for themselves

so many calls coming through now that are unsolicited but reading others comments makes me think this is one of the salvation army calls as well (someone did leave a vm recently stating that). i wonder how they are pulling my number since it is on the DNC registry...?

Call the number back, and enter 6 on the menu of options they provide. You can then enter your number, and they will remove it from their calling list.

Salvation Army solicitation. I have no idea how they got my number, and I have never provided it to them. They called from 800-958-7825. Earlier this the morning I got three calls from 800-583-4705. I suspect there is a connection. Probably the same boiler room making calls on behalf of different solicitors, just spoofing their number to fit the purpose.
I would never support a discriminatory organization such as the Salvation Army.
Remember that calling them back on any 800 number just confirms your number, and increases the chances of further solicitations.

Actually, you don't have to have made a charitable donation in the past to have them contact you as charities are exempt from the DNC list.  However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls on behalf of that specific charity.  If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.  I don't know if it's the SA itself who is making these calls or if they've hired a third-party telemarketer.

I agree  --  someone connected to the better business bureau explained to me that nefarious orgs have found a way to "spoof" legitimate #s to show as caller id, but you can still tell it's fake because the name will never show on a "spoofed" scammer call.

When I was down and needed a helping hand The Salvation Army was always there for me.  For Christmas they  gave me a turkey with  all of the fixins.  They did the  same thing  for Thanksgiving.  I  am now  more  able and am  on my feet.  Whenever I  see  The Salvation Army asking for money at Christmas or Thanksgiving I always give.  I  will never  forget  them as they remembered me.
