I know it sounds like I'm working for the scammers but this does work, and no I am not smart enuf to be a scammer, but if you listen to their pitch, especially recorded ones, they will may give you an opt out option at the end of the pitch. Use it.

She (sounding of idian decent but was trying to sound like she was which i noticed right away) called from microsoft saying I had a virus and she asked me to turn my computer on. I said I dont have a computer cuz I dont and she said really? And then hung up on me. When I called the number back it was a recording saying I had won a free cruise....really folks?

Claiming to be from Microsoft. Saying they have detected viruses on my computer and that it will crash soon. They want access to my computer to clean it up.
Definitely scammers trying to get access to a computer to retrieve personal info.
Microsoft does not call individual people.
