The message was for a name I do not recognize; no idea why our number was called.

This company keeps calling my 87-year-old father and harassing him. He's suffered multiple strokes, is paralyzed and wheelchair reliant. He's extremely hard of hearing, fixates on things and is very easily upset. He's never had a student loan and is in debt to no one. They relentlessly call him several times a week. He can only make out portions of what they say and can't communicate clearly because of his slurred speech. He is so frustrated and totally traumatized by this company. This is elder abuse! How many other elderly are being subjected to calls from this company or others like them. Why is there nothing we can do? Our legislators need to take protecting our elders more seriously and repay them for the hard work they put into making this country as great as it once was. Hard work, ethics and respect are out the window: they have been replaced by the entitled, greed and those who have no conscience.

They called me and it wasn't even for me -called my work- it is really sad because two people have the same first name that they would call me record me and then find out it wasn't me.....appalling!

It's 8:33 am Feb.12,2014 when the phone ring today and I am still sleeping. And that phone call is unknown when I check the number so I decide to Google who is the caller its unknown. And I read all the comments posted now I know that its a collection agency.

Got a call for my roomate from this number.  Man identified himself as Jim F something. I asked him to repeat his name and it was uninteligable.  I asked him to spell his name and it was gobbeldeegook. I asked his business and he said it was "Personal Business". He gave me a number for my roomate to call which was 800-745-2166. I recieved a call from this number a few days ago and when I answered a recorded woman's voice said to hold for an important call. Then music started playing, so I just hung up. I asked my roomate if she owed any money to anyone and she said no, so it is a scammer. I am going to report it to Do Not Call, that is about all I can do.

These people called trying to collect a debt from my girlfriend for a student loan. They called on MY MOM's CELL PHONE. First off, what does my mom have to do with my girlfriend's debt, and secondly, how did they get my mom's cell phone number?

They have been calling me for long time. I did pay all my student loans long ago. also I have receive mail from the b*****ds. I am about to file a law suit against the for EXTORTION, because that is what it is.

I got a call at 8:30 this morning asking for my daughter.  I told them that I have given her number to them many times and to not call me any more!  Again, they promised not to call me as they have in the past.  My daughter has a respite from this obligation because she  has a chronic illness and has not worked for several years.  Yet, they continue  to call me.  I am now going to the powers that be to stop this because I am suffering from chronic pain and was up all night last night - finally getting to sleep and then being awakened by this people.  I have had it!

If these people are calling your cell with an autodialer, and you did NOT use your cell as a contact number for the original loan, you can sue them for a LOT of money.

You don't have a lot of rights in relation to debt collectors, but you do have rights. Among them is not to be called at all, if you notify them in writing that "all calls to all phone numbers are inconvenient." That wording is due to the wording of the FDCPA, that calls that are "inconvenient" cannot be made.

A telephone recording device is your friend, if you are being harassed.

It is interesting that I  received a call from this agency.   First off I am the guy that makes a fair living and can afford to pay my bills.  Even my credit cards are paid off every month.  To date I don't owe anyone nor have I stiffed anyone by not paying what I owe.  Furthermore I have never taken a student loan.  I payed for my classes out of pocket.  So I ask the silly question how did these guys get my number.

I rarely use the land line phone and never give out the number.  Yet these people seem to know it and even know my birthday.   They are good, and I give them credit.  But back to my first premise, if they are that good, how did they pick a person who is debt free to harass?

I really would like to see these clowns in court over their pseudo and contrived debt.  A libel counter-suit could be profitable.

i signed up with Ecredit attorney.com about a month ago to help clean my credit and i have now begun receiving threatening calls from progressive financial regarding an educational loan ? they said that if i dont pay them they will garnish my wages? what do i do? should i be alarmed? i want to hire an attorney to help with this but i dont even know where to begin someone please help? i dont want my wages garnished?

After 2012 Obama is hopefully passing the new bill that student loans over 20 years will be forgiven. And anything less than that will have a chance to pay back much less. If you google Obama plans to dismiss Student Loans in 2012 you will find the info. So these vultures will have to stop the harrassment or they will be sued.

Called me, answered.  Says...  "All reps are busy, please wait for next available rep."  WTF?, you called me, BYE!

Call Multiple times within a 15 minute time span. Annoying!

Guy called Dan called us and left a message to return call. This company has been harassing us for a debt, that belongs to my husbands deadbeat dad has, for the last 8 years. We always tell them we have no contact with him and have not for over 25 years. We have repeatedly told them to cease and desist, stop calling, take our number out of their systems, stop, stop, stop. They never do. It gets quiet for a few months then BAM!!! It all starts again. They always start with "I need to verify your SS#". WTF!!! I would never ever give that out to anyone. Now they are threatening court. LOL Keep Dreaming. I would love to see that happen. The Judge would have a field day with them. Suddenly it is ok to sue a person for a debt that a different person made in 1976. Before we even were born. So pathetic that this company can keep doing this.

In this day and age of rip off artists and identity theft it is amazing how ongoing scams are still taking unsuspecting citizens for a fool with all of the publicity advertised on the internet, TV, billboards, magazines and newspapers on the topic. This company has contacted me at work, at home, on my cell and all that is left is for them to visit my home. Wishful thinking so I can let them have it face to face and tell them where they can all go if they try, but I've opted to simply ignore the calls from a so called Mr. Humphrey and voice mails left on my cell that I simply decided to delete. It is an attempt to collect a debt requesting to confirm the last four of your SSN, but short of being legit, not very friendly to say the least with their annoying persistance. Not interested and have a nice day...click is what I've had to revert to, but they can take a hike or a very long walk off a short pier.

These dirtbags just called us:

1) Over student-loan debts that do not exist, when ALL of our college loans were paid in full nearly two decades ago, and

2) More than two weeks AFTER they received a I letter I sent to them Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested, telling them in no uncertain terms that the debt is not mine, and that they are to CEASE and DESIST these calls IMMEDIATELY. I have the Return Receipt, which was SIGNED and DATED Feb. 22 by a company representative.

My wife and I would like to thank Progressive Financial Services Inc. of Tempe, AZ, in advance for the thousands of dollars we're going to win from them once we've hired an attorney to file a lawsuit for relief from this debt harassment. Further, we're sure Progressive Financial Services Inc. CEO Louis P. Valerio will be just thrilled to know we'll also be contacting our representative and senators in Congress TOMORROW to ask them why the federal Department of "Education" hires private companies to harass innocent citizens over non-existent debts.

1-800-745-2345 A man named steven bell -  Called looking for Other Wirsching, he ignored my request to tell me who he was, or what he wanted. Checked Caller ID called and asked for a Supervisor. Got a man who pronounced his name so fast it was indecipherable, he did this 3 times, then when asked to slow down he put me on hold. Sounded like,  jan ensurey,  jansen hurley, jen senchery. Called back asked for a Manager got michael, asked his last name, he hesitated and said reesser  Asked if he could see my number on his caller ID. He said incoming or outgoing. Repeated the question and was asked something similar. He then asked why, and I told him to check the number it?s listed to MyName Wirsching and has been for 35 years. Asked again if he could see my number and he asked me if I knew the Other Wirsching and that he also KNEW I was related and addition relationship blather. I said, there is no way he could know of or show a relationship between me and other. He said he?s been doing this for years and he knows. I said, I know it?s not possible, so, I called him a liar.  Why won't I answer his question? I said, I asked my question first. Why won?t you answer me? Can you see my phone number. He said no. I said, call me again, I'll report you to every agency I can find,  federal, in this state and the one you are calling from. He offered to remove my number from their list. Now how can he do that if he can?t see the number.  Another lie.

Agreed. Send them a cease communication letter and tell them you will press charges if you continue these calls.  

The sad thing about this is... so many people will not keep records of documents like yourself.  I've personally collected hundreds of thousands from people who did not keep good records.

The Student Loan agency led Nazi agency into harassing all they could, and telling you that 25% of their costs are repayable by you, yet you did not enter into any contract with these leg breakers, so get a good lawyer and settle with them for far less than the principal and tell the the best I got form  my education is over qualfied and jobless.... and then tell these fraudulent leg breakers to go fish for it (it was another 4 letter word I was thinking) and file bankrutcy if you must.

But call the authorities and buy an airphone for future calls ....no one likes that in their ear

This loan was written off due to a disability clause and companies like this one will keep hounding you even without proof of a debt owed. I will tell them to come over and I will cash them out. Then they will fall down some stairs and land on a pitchfork :)
Yes they will harass your relatives and call your job nobody protects you from these dirt bags.
Loan scavenging needs to be outlawed.
