What are you supposed to do when you do NOT owe them anything. My Consumers Eneregy bill is up to date and always has been paid on time. WHY then are they harrassing me????

Consumers told me that they would remove my number - seems that my number was once the number of someone owing Consumers Energy money yet despite them saying they will remove the number, the calls persist.

I spoke with Consumers Energy and they dioscovered that my phone number was attached to a delinquent account which the operator said she will action immediately especially when she discovered that I had never been delinquent in payment and it was clearly not my debt!

They call my cell phone number several times per day and never leave a message. When I answer, all I get is a recording.

They are calling me several times a day trying to get information on someone else I once rented from.  It's a computer generated call and when I try to get rid of it, it puts me on hold with no one ever getting on the line.  I called them and they tried to get personal information on this person, which I believe is illegal. When I called to confront them about calling me and using up my cell phone minutes, they hung up on me.

Watch out for these folks, they are bad news.

They call me sometimes 10 times a day, every 45 minutes, but sometimes they call only 5 or 6 times. I have also tried to connect to a person and have failed. I don't know how to get rid of them. I have had my number for years, but would like to change it so that the harrassment stops!

Yup, it is comsumer energy. They are the company that scams people into paying a low rate for gas

If it were a normal person attempting the wrong number, you would smile politely and say "Thats ok" or verify what number they are calling. Being that it is a company and everyone these days wants a quick buck, they want to scream harrassment.
I worked for NCO most of the calls that call back screaming remove my number do not verify with the collector the number. Either they refuse, or scream and hang up. How are they suppose to just know the number. Here is your sign.
The second item I would like to address is to those who do have a debt with them. If you do not pay your bill do you expect it to just go away. It does not work that way. There credit report saving options, either have the bill transfered to you using account. Doing this removes NCO from the equasion and reports it as a paid account. Then call Consumers and make a payment arrangments.
The other option is to set up arrangments with NCO. They will work with you if you work with them.
The best option of all is to not get into debt trouble to begin with. There are times all of us are short on cash. Call Consumers and set up arrangments before it hits the credit reporting stage.

After reading Chief Inspectors post makes me wonder what's up between them and alltel.  They always call my cell (Alltel provider) and have never called my land line.  Never once has there been an actual person on the line when you do answer.  VERY ANNOYING.

This firm keeps calling my cell tx stating they are trying to collect a debt & that any information obtained will be used for that purpose. Then it is asked that the call be returned @ 800-748-0052. Since I have only had this cell tx for the past 2 months AND that it is under an AllTel contract thru my employment (a Michigan Sheriff's Office), these requests for response are amusing to say the least. More importantly, they appear to be quasi legal at best & if determined to be fully illegal, whomever is interested may rest assured that full prosecution will be brought thru both the criminal & civil courts.

They keep calling 8 times a day (which i have logged) and not even a real human answers, you get placed on hold to wait to speak to an uneducated person on the laws of collections. I have asked them to take my private cell number of their list numerous times oh ya and the kicker; I'm NOT even the person they are looking for and have no clue who the person is they are. Going to take legal action if they call one more time.

This number call's all the time and it should be illegal to harass someone as much as they do ....it is not getting them anywhere maybe they have a quota number of calls to make per persons name? I mean IF this is a collection agency do they **REALLY** think they can bully anyone this way, I would not pay just because of how much they pester me, I sometimes pick up and press 2 2 2 2 22 2  over and over! oh well call away these people have problems more than ANYONE who owes a bill and quite possibly has fallen on hard times and lucky to keep their phone on to get a new job ....wonder if the line thingy radio shack would catch these callers?

I got a new number and started getting these calls it is the Nco group. I went to the website and call 800-220-2274 and got them to remove my number. Hope it works cuz I don't owe them a thing.

This company harrasses and harrasses people. There are blogs all over the net about them. You can't shake them no matter what.

It's a bill collector. they call on average 10 times a day. usually once an hour from 9am until 2pm and then again in the evening.
