You are a very seasoned illiterate shill apparently.  You must have an IQ that is below freezing to show up on this board and reply to posts that are over 4 years old.

How on earth do you think you can even give advice about macroeconomics when you can't even spell simply words or compose a basic sentence?  Just asking ....

Way to give legitimacy to the claim that the company behaves in hostile ways, shill. Tell me, are your bills current ?

And speaking of inept, you really should consider a course in remedial English.

Do you have any proof Shill?  The law does require you to prove it..  And there's also the State Statues of limitations.  Phone, fax, nor email is legal either..

Section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires 3rd-party debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt (the key word is *shall*) :
"§ 809. Validation of debts
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing?
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer?s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."

Shill alert!  Nice job replying to a post over FOUR years old!  Just because the poster's husband HAD an old debt doesn't mean he has to pay it to any random person who calls!  Did the caller mail the legally-required debt validation letter, proving they are the owner of the debt and licensed to collect debt in the person's state?  I highly doubt it.   If the debt is so old as to be outside SOL, then the collector cannot sue to collect the money.  How do you know the money was a loan?  Either way, you have proved yourself to be a shill with poor writing skills who has only served to inform readers that those that call from this number are scammers.

And you're helping how?  By responding to a poster from 2009?  The only person playing the victim here, is you, the "seasoned debt collector".    Plus the poster didn't say anything about trying NOT to pay the debt, only that she wanted to be sure the caller was legitimate.  And you seem to be particularly "inept" yourself by responding to such an old post.

You say your husband  has an old debt....
I would strongly suggest he pays his bill by borrowing the $$$$$ or not get in debt he can't pay...
weather intentionally of otherwise ...the bottom line is he owes...
      So please stop playing the victim and pay your over due debt....

and that will surly help the economy  and by re- circulating the money from his bad debt :naturally
interest rates will ,drop....
   Again, please don't play the victim fort your inept excuse to not honor your loan agreement

I received a call for my daughter from a woman named Susan who gave 1-800-764-2214 as the call back number.  Susan claimed it was very, very important and to make sure my daughter called back.  I told her my daughter would expect to know who the call was from and why they were calling.  Susan stated that because of confidentiality rules, she was not permitted to give me that information.

However, several years back (2007) my daughter had trouble with her Verizon account.  Due to some new towers being erected, local residents were being erroneously charged roaming fees.  Despite months and months of calls to Verizon customer service, the problem could not seem to be handled so we cancelled her account.  In 2010, she received a call from NELSON, WATSON & ASSOCIATES, LLC.  This is a collection firm.  Despite our explanation, they insisted my daughter had to pay.  We told the caller we would not be paying and thought the matter was ended, but she then received a letter from them in 2011 warning her of dire circumstances if she didn't pay.  The call today was the third contact from the company, but they are no longer identifying themselves.

They left a message stating they were a law office, I found it odd that a law office was an 800# and a law office's name did not appear on my caller ID, there is no reason a law office should be contacting me so I found this quite odd. Also the # that they called from and the call return # they left on the message were two totally different numbers.

This company called me repeatedly and asked for some guy named Lee Gordon.  This went on for 2 months.  I kept telling them that I didn't know the person.  They got so aggessive with me that I called the local police station.  Ironically, the police station called them several times after I hung up with them and they NEVER answered the phone.  Something was very fishy about that.  This probably worked for me because I don't know this person nor do I owe anyone any debt.  I would highly recommend anyone call their local police station for harrassing calls such as these.  I think it's illegal for someone to make threats to you, even if you do owe.

I got a call today. He said his name is Ken Lopiano and I wanted to know if they are real dept collectors. My husband has a old dept. He kept lowering the price and knew me by my middle name and said we could pay 45 cent to the dollar and wanted to know if we had a  checking or debit card we pay with. He said he was collecting for capitol 1 bank. Said he was a dept collector.

4 calls over the last 3 weeks to my employers phone. I firmly told the first 3 that I do not conduct personal business on my employer's phone and hung up. Now they brought on one of their heavy-hitters who left a semi-threatening voice-mail saying that if I did not call back today, "it would not be good for me!" His tone of voice was intimidating and really p*ssed me off!! I am not calling back and will not engage him in any way, yet. The OC was Cross Country Bank who, according to the credit reporting agencies, wrote-off my alleged debt years ago. The CA's extention number is 2263

I got a call showing caller id # 1800-868-6401 I p/u and after i say hello for about 30-45 seconds a recorded message cmes on saying to call 1800-840-4786. I called and got a hold of ken lopian who said he was representing nelson watson and associate, When I told him he is looking for my sister not me, he told me to check out there website @ WWW.NELSONWATSON.COM and to have my sister call 1-800-764-2214. Then he asked me if she still resides at and quoted an address, I advised him as a collector for the last 7 years I know that is proprietary information and that according to FDCPA he can not release that information, he said "listen here don't get smart with me and think you know what the hell you are talking about this so before you start trying to quote FDCPA, go to some training." When I informed him I have been in collections for 7 years and have taking the training at least 5 times over that span he told me I don't know what I am talking about. I told him I will not be spoken down to and told him that point I told him I will not be talked down and he can stop calling my # or I will report him. he said go ahead and he will not remove my # again AGAINST FDCPA. Why Would They have at least 3 #'s ( one from caller I.D. 1800-868-6401, The # they said to call back 1 800-840-4786, and the # ken gave to have my sister call him back 1-800-764-2214) and in the background it sounds like a bar not a call center.

800 868-6418 called and said to call back at 800 764-2214

I called and they asked for my son. I asked what it was about, they said it was personal and sorry to be so vague. I said my son would not call back unless he knew what it was about. he said "Well I could care less if your son calls me back" then hung up. Very rude....I have no clue what this is about nor does my son.

Nelson Watson & Associates belong to the sleazebag Zenith Acquisitions Corp.
Aka/NorthStar Capital Acquisitions, LLC aka/Varde collection agency out of Amherst, NY. They are notorious bottom feeders who purchase old, worthless debts for pennies on the dollar and then attempt to extort payment for them from unsuspecting consumers.

Bud Says...

North Star claims they aren't a Debt Collector...

Federal Judge Refuses To Dismiss
Case Against Debt Collector & Lawyer

LOS ANGELES (CN) ? A federal judge refused to dismiss a couple?s claim that N Star Acquisitions barraged them with hostile phone calls to collect a nonexistent debt. Paul and Suzette Oei say North Star representatives called their house incessantly, trying to collect a debt the Oeis allegedly owed on an Aspire credit card account, though the Oeis said they never owned an Aspire card. Suzette claimed one worker called her at work, accused her of being a liar, and when Suzette asked him to stop calling, called another 23 times. When North Star?s attorney, Paul Carruthers, sued them, they fired back with their own lawsuit, which North Star moved to dismiss for a slew of reasons. It claimed North Star was not an actual debt collector and couldn?t be held responsible for the actions of its attorney, whom it labeled an ?independent contractor.? Judge Margaret Morrow rejected these arguments, as well as the Oeis? assertion that their emotional distress claim was ?akin? to a malicious prosecution claim.
