I got a very odd call from these folks saying that they were JC penny and they had to deliver a package..... and needed to verify my address for UPS.... then they asked when we would be home. Don't give these people information - they should know this already. They are NOT JC Penny and they are NOT UPS.

I just received a phone call from this number at work (1-800-798-5795). Not only did they have my direct work number but my cell and home number. They also had my birth date and SSN!! The man had a very thick middle-eastern accent and said he was trying to help a UPD driver find my apartment to deliver a package. He said that the UPS driver couldn't locate it and thought that the apartment number was wrong however he had my full correct address too. Stupidly I confirmed the address before I realized that he was NOT a UPS employee, but some random guy. The package that he wanted to deliver was a rebate check for $86 from a company that I worked for back in 2000 (rebate for what I asked...why would a previous company that I worked for want to deliver a check. Again I confirmed that I worked for this company without realizing it). So these people have all info to steal identities and now I am also concerned that I am not home and he knows that now... I called my local police department to make a report and she seemed concerned more that he had my SSN. The police dispatcher recommended that I run an immediate credit report and put a fraud alert on it to protect myself. I am calling ADT to reactivate my security system as we speak... What the heck? I feel completely violated and angry.

I got a call not long ago from this number and I got the same thing about them saying they were UPS and that they've been trying to deliver a package for my fiancee and wanted to me to varify all the information. She has had some credit problems in the past with college loans so after I got off the phone with the guy I was thinking and thought maybe it was just them but all of her college loans are paid or paid on and I started worrying so thats why I wanted to check this number out. After seeing this I'm a little freaked out! Also, what's even more crazy, we just got our home phone activated two days ago and they already have the number. And, they called asking for my fiancee and her name isn't even on the account! I'm pretty worried right now.

I have received several calls from this number today. They started calling my home about 7:15am in the morning. I decided not to answer since I had been receiving calls like this for the last two weeks. My first call came in at 7:20 and on my caller id it indicated that it was the UPS store. The lady was stating that her driver was trying to deliver a package and i had not responded to the call. I called the number back after not giving them information. It was a UPS store but it was closed. Once I contacted them during business hours, the owner stated he was the only one in the store. A call came in later.
Then on 08/28/08 I received a call at 7:25 am and the caller id had Kelly Services. It was a man and he stated that he was given my information from the county and was I still looking for a job. He had a work address from about 11 years ago. I did not verify it. He was asking what kind of work do I do and lets update your information. I then hung up. I did contact the Sherriff department in my area.
Just don't provide them with any information. They also contacted my brother on his cell phone in the middle of the day and acted as though he was used as a reference. Don't know how they got his number!!!!!
Just be careful. There is a fraud ring going on and they are persistent.

An asian guy calls my work to verify employment.  We don't give info over the phone so I asked him to fax over a request on company letterhead.  He seemed pushy and acted like he needed the info asap.  I never received anything.  I called the number back a few times and the mailbox is always full.  I thought it was a strange call.  Good thing I checked it out.  He said he owned a home and was renting his basement out and needed to verify employment for a guy who worked here that was about 23 years old.

They called my cellphone claiming to be UPS too... wanting to know when I'd be home so they could "deliver a package"...
When they asked my husband for my address and place of employment, (and he didn't give it to them) they rushed off the phone, claiming the so-called "package" would be delivered...
The package of course never came... but they called back AGAIN, this time claiming to have a Tax Rebate Check from a Student Loan to deliver..(WTF?) I'm NOT even enrolled in school!
I called and spoke to the manager at UPS Store, and they said they received several complaints about this...

Called me on 9/10 and said they were UPS and they had been trying to deliver a package to me multiple times.  The caller aid they left numerous notices and that the sender was Best Buy and the package weighed 7.2lbs and was sent direct on 9/4.  He verified my address and asked if they could leave the package with someone else, I told him to leave it at my management office and he said they would.  He then asked to verify my employer which I thought was very weird.  This scam is obviously getting more advanced so please beware-I will let you know if anything else funky happens

Today I received a call from someone stating they were from UPS.  They claimed they had a package for my boyfriend and had my address.  They said they had tried delivering it yesterday around 2:30 or 3:00 I believed him because nobody was home around that time, but I also thought it was strange there was no notice left.  He said it was an insured package already paid for and that I needed a password to accept the package. I asked if the password was a mother's maiden name or something like that, and he said it was a place of business, I said a name and that was wrong and he ended up giving me the password. I asked my boyfriend about it and he said he hadn't ordered anything.  No package ever arrived so I called UPS and they had nothing, but also told me that UPS does not require "passwords" to receive a package and they don't weigh their packages in ounces but in pounds.  If this is a scam I don't understand it, people need a little less time on their hands if you ask me!

Received a call at work from a man claiming to have an urgent UPS package that was undeliverable at an employee's home because they needed a signature.  He wanted more information about how to get in touch with this employee.  Claimed the package contained some sort of rebate check!

First they leave a voicemail message at my home saying to call them back because they had a package for me. I haven't ordered anything. When I tried to call the number back, I got a recording that all of their customer service associates were busy & to leave my name, number, and address and they would call me back to get a better time to deliver my package.
Today they called my work & asked for my formal name. How in the hell did they get that?? AND my work number?? I tried to call the 800 number back but the "mailbox" was full

Was first called by this number and then paged by 866 233-4368 and called back and got a Nationwide Courier.  So I left a message.  A second call from the same 800 798-5795 number at work by this number about a delivery that was for me and the lady said that it didn't look like it was being delivered at work but she needed my home address to verify. I told her that was personal information and that I hadn't ordered anything or expecting anything from anyone.  She got really pissy and I repeated that I was not giving her my home address - as that was personal and confidential.  She hung up on me.

I received a call today and three yesterday (didn't answer)...he said he was from UPS and had a letter which required my signature. He asked for verification of my employment which I stupidly gave...and within 15 minutes had called my employer. I also had three calls from a local UPS store and when I called there the owner said he hadn't called me.  I explained that his number showed up on my cell id. I am going to follow this up with the local police and with my cell phone company...and further as the need arises.

A man called stating that he is from UPS at a call center in Seattle, WA. He said he has a parcel for me from "ACI" and that it requires a signature because it's a check (how he knew that, I haven't a clue). He wanted to know when I would be around so that I could sign for it. I checked this site while on the phone for him and instead.

The man recited my address, and asked if it was correct, I didn't respond. I asked for a hub that I could pick it up as well as the tracking number. The tracking number he gave me was 5589999, I know for a fact that UPS tracking numbers are not 7 digits.

At first he started giving me a PO Box when I asked for a location, I called him on his BS and let him have it. He persisted, and gave me the following address to pick it up tomorrow between 10am and noon:
20021 Clarendoin St. Fountain Valley, CA 92567

I hope someone else has the sense to check the number out first, before giving out their info.

Call received at my mother's house, they identified themselves as UPS looking for a good time to deliver a package to my boyfriend at a totally separate address.  My mom, not thinking, told them after 6 pm.  I received a call from a different number about 3 hours later stating the same thing.  I questioned when they had tried to deliver and they said earlier that day and Tuesday.  I basically called him a liar because someone had been home all day and there was no note from Tuesday, he said maybe the driver had the wrong house.  He said someone would be there within 20 minutes.  Of course no one came. I called UPS and we had no package. It seemed to me like someone was trying to figure out when there would be no one home.  Did anyone have anything further happen with these calls?  I am just trying to figure out what kind of scam this could be, the whole thing doesn't make much sense.

Recieved a call from a very persistant person stating they got my name from a neighbor with a job referral. They used my maiden name from several years ago, a phone number that I haven't lived at for 7 years, but they did have my birthdate and SSN. Even after I said I had a job thanks goodbye they called back. They were not very willing to disclose information and of course neither was I. This has SCAM written all over it!!!!

I now have the same number as a mans old number. I frequently get calls from people, lawyers, ect. looking for him. I got a call from them today, they said they were UPS. I was supposed to get a package from UPS that same day so I talked to him, when I asked if I was the man, I said I had his old number. Then he started being very rude!
Me: I don't know who he is!
Him: So you're getting a divorce?
Me: No! I have never meet him before!
Him:So after you guys broke up he changed so much that you don't know who he is?
Me: I have never meet him! I don't know who he is!
Him: So you broke up and he changed?
Me: Who are you?!

My neighbor said he received a call on 6/27/08 from a "Ralf Michels" who was looking for me.  The caller said that he represented the "United Job Service" who was looking to contact me "regarding employment" since I supposedly never answer my phone.  The caller stated he was calling "from Seattle" and gave a bogus return number for call-back that did not match caller ID for the number he was calling from.  The caller ID number he was calling from is 800-798-5795.

This out fit called my daughter telling her she was with UPS trying to deliver a package. I have notified UPS somebody is scamming using their name. and I have also notified the States Attorney General as well. They have assured me they will look into it. What they are doing is illegal in every state and should be reported as soon as you get a call.
