received many messages from this company (Jennifer etc.. as detailed by other bloggers). today I called right back and got through. They asked if there was a James McBride at my house (no such person here). They then asked if they could speak to me and identified me by name which was odd considering i have call blocking on my phone. Said they were from National Recovery the largest debt collection agency supposedly. I told them to remove my name and number from their list and not to call again - they said they would.

National Recovery Agency ia a debt collection agency. They (Jennifer) only leave a phone number and file number on the answering machine with a request for a call back.
If you don't call you will get repeated calls. Call the free number and don't let them suck you into answering questions you don't want to answer. Find out who they want to talk to. If you tell them the person does not live there and it's not their number and you don't want them to call back; then they have no further right to call you.

Keep getting calls from the NRA, it used to be a different number on the missed call, but never a message. They say it's an old debt of my wife's, which she sorta remembers, but it's never been on her credit report, still isn't, and they won't send her any bill or any proof at all that they are authorized to collect.
legaladvice 2011-06-06 20:58:27 Unknown
if you know its your debt PAY IT. they send out ONE letter. its against the law to show anything on any kind of communications that can be seen by a third party that it is a collections agency. therefore the letter is in a plain white envelope from harrisburg pa. 99% of people assume its junk mail and throw it out, if you do. its your own fault

This "group" called my home several times asking for someone with a very common name that is not even close to anyone who ever lived here. I told them they were harassing me and the guy hung up but they called again today. I think they try to find suckers who they can rip off.
Joe 2011-06-06 20:58:27 Unknown

I paid my $75.00 bill with this company & requested a pay-off letter and was told that I would have to send a self address stamped envelope in order to receive a pay-off letter. If you pay a bill in full why should you pay for 2 stamps to get a pay off letter that I still have not received.. This company is full of you no what.

This company called me asking for someone else and refuses to stop calling my home no matter what. I asked what company this caller worked for and a call back number. He refused to identify the company and gave me a bogus call back number.
I have blocked the number on my caller ID, called my phone company and filed a complaint and called the Federal Trade Commission and filed a complaint. If they get enough complaints about this company's tactics, they can do something about it.
As for this being some type of mix-up, they were calling for someone else, not even looking for me. They have no business calling me and harassing me in any manner.

Received a call from this number earlier recently which was from a company called National Recovery Agency which is a "dba" (doing business as) of another group called NRA Group LLC http://www.nationalrecovery.com/

This company is a scam.

BEWARE, they ask for your social secuirty # and all kinds of things that make me believe they are trying to get your information for IDENTITY THEFT purposes.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION !

Jennifer X calls me everyday with the same message to call back using master reference # blah blah blah. This is a recording that I have memorized since they have called me close to 99 X's in the past 3 mos! I am a Veteran that goes to the VA when I need to see a butcher, sorry I mean Dr., so my medical care is covered. I don't see how I owe money for a medical bill. This is blatant harassment by these bozo's and I'm gonna end up in the Coo Coo's nest if there is no way to stop them. It's come down to calling the phone company, changing my #, and paying to keep it from being given out. Ya right-the internet does not keep peoples lives private.

Same exact message as this, chick said her name was jennifer too. Just got the message on my voice mail.

i am only 16 years old and i have no unpaid bills. no bills, period. this is really pissing me off and after reading some of the responses to this thread, i dont know if any legal action should take place.
lucy 2008-06-23 19:00:03 Unknown
That same chick called and I called back and the said they were looking for someone that was not living here so they said they will take us off the list, hopefully no more calls!
blc 2008-06-18 20:07:40 Unknown
Here's a positive suggestion.
I've also been plagued by calls from them for some time (always from "Jennifer").
Today I called them back. The man who answered explained they were looking for a certain construction company ("BL Construction"): had I ever heard of them? I said no, but it's interesting that my personal initials start with b.l. He laughed, and said, "Well, ok, I'm going to take your number off of our list. And thank you."
So my suggestion is to just call them back; IF you're quite sure that no-one is trying to collect some $$ from you that is past due, it's probably a mix-up similar to mine, and you'll clear it up right away -- and go off their list. No more calls!

generic computer repair business 2008-05-02 19:56:57 Unknown
got called by them, computer tells me "please wait, all operators are busy", but was quickly connected to an operator who was asking for the wrong person. As I was asking for clarification as to whom they were calling, I was able to get their attention enough that I could reply (and be clearly heard) with "fair debt collections practices act". They told me that they sometimes get wrong information and then hung up. I doubt they will call again.
Tobes 2008-04-21 20:19:31 Debt Collector
It is just a collection call for a bill you have not paid. Mostly medical bills. If you actually speak with them it is legit and you can check them out with the BBB. They will work with you on collecting the debts fairly and I have had no problems with them. Sometimes you just need to stop running from the problems you created and face them head on instead of reporting a number that you beleive is spam...

NRA company keeps calling my work asking to speak to my mother, who passed away 2 months ago. She never worked at the company I am at and I don't know how they have her name on file combined with my work number.
I spoke with a lady who refused to tell me any information because I was not my mother - who I already told her is deceased; nor would she tell me how she got my work number.
All I was given was an acc # B99706 but there is nothing I can do about it because I am not her. Unfortunately she is no longer with us and that is not going to change - so please do not continue to call - especially my place of employment.

I have also checked their websites and nothing comes up. Why is that. I also clicked on contact and nothing came up. Someone please help.
